I don't see anywhere in this document any positive reference made by me towards el8. What I do see is: Me ircing as vmy, talking a little shit at jobe who is a confirmed retard and who enjoys quite a bit of innocent needling from many, many internet users, and A user with the nick b_ thanking me for hacking aempirei, an action with which I was not associated. I support in el8 in no way. I have made no public comment about el8, nor do I have any place in a document detaining the workings of the anti-whitehat struggle, since I have no place in the computer security industry. I'm not a 'friend of el8'; I happen to irc from a machine from which their members irc and serve web pages from, and I have no more connection to them than you do to the people who share hushmail with you as their provider. >Remember, all association in the who's-who of whitehats is made >through the reference of names in public forums and documents >and makes no claim of membership or association with the forums, >document writers, or groups except the association of 'mention within'. I really don't htink it's particular clever or amusing to hack a bunch of people because they have jobs, and I certainly don't think it's very nice to try and smear my reputation on the basis of logs which appear in a humorous account of a computer intrusion. I dunno how long you've been following the 'hacker scene' or whatever, but you may wish to keep in mind that it's traditional practice to publish fake logs in the spirit of humor or as an attempt to divert attention from real culprits. I think it's cool for people to try and understand the sociology of the events that happen on the internet; I think the ephemeral nature of the medium means that people like you who try and chart any segment of the internet are doing a valuable service just by watching and remembering. The future's history belongs to you in a way, and you have a pretty lofty responsibility as a commentator and journalist to at least try and avoid propagation of information that is false and damaging to reputations of the people involved. I really hate to have to explain to my next potential employer why my name is associated with a known active hacking group who attempts to sabotage the reputations of companies by hacking their employees. It would be bad enough explaining this if my relationship with el8 is real, but it's tough to swallow when I don't neither know who is in el8 nor in any way endorse their actions or views. p.s. - you misspelled Chief in Mudge's title, dude. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
