   Re: MESSAGE BASE EXPANDED

Sorry, folks. So many folks have joined our BBS now that our message
base fills up rapidly. I've expanded it dramatically, so enjoy!

I will be at O'Connor, Cavanaugh giving my deposition today at 2 PM.
Don't miss this week's new Tom Fitzpatrick column in New Times (and the
great cartoon that goes with it), as well as today's (Wednesday's) piece
by Bruce Christian in the Tribune in which I give some information about
a bargain that Fred Weber tried to strike with me to sell out my
listeners. (Don't worry, I refused it, of course.)

Many folks have been anxiously awaiting responses from folks who
couldn't leave messages due to a lack of room. They will be logging on
again to do so.

Thanks so much for your continued support.

Tom Leykis

   Re: ANOTHER NEW PERSON

Well, while I'm awaiting validation (sounds like a Government procedure
for the 1990's, eh?), I just wanted to drop in a line, and introduce
myself to all of the active users. My name is Daryl Westfall, and I'm
sure a lot of you long-term BBS users probably know me. I've been into
BBSing for several years now, and I always find it nice to encounter a
unique BBS such as this one (especially when it is operated by my
favorite talk show host!), as well as one that promotes active, mature,
and logical thought.

I've been interested in entering the radio field for just about as long
from the time my father brought me home my first record player at age 3,
I knew it was the job for me. No mind that the record player was an old
beat up machine he bought at a yard sale, it still played all the
records he brought home for me. He used to design stages for nightclubs,
and knew all the jukebox maintenance people. Nearly all the records he
brought me home were jukebox singles. While others were listening to
"Little Red Riding Hood," and "The Three Bears," I was rockin' to the
sounds of James Brown, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, The Beatles, The
Mamas and the Papas, and many others.

Well, I didn't mean to babble on like this, I just wanted to throw in a
little greeting, and to thank Tom & Christine for the use of their BBS!

Could someone please reprint the Tribune article here?

   Re: (R)THANK YOU

Dial-A-Date was forcibly taken off the air? This is the first I had
heard of that (since becoming a Mr. Mom I hadn't been listening much).

I found Dial-A-Date to be extremely entertaining and a real gem to
listen to on the long drive home from whereever I was on a Friday
evening. I found it so entertaining that I took my walkman out with me
a few times so I wouldn't miss it.

I was *hoping* it would be back with your return, but no. Now I see
why... Is there any way to find out how the show did in ratings?

Curious Steve

   Re: (R)THANKS AGAIN

Tom, I've been wondering something ever since seeing Geraldo...

Was that, by chance, your wife that mentioned your opinion about the
housewives that sit at home? I found it hard to believe that Geraldo
would know that the particular lady was from Phoenix if she did not
travel with you... Know-what-I-mean?

   Re: AIN'T IT AMAZING???

Just an observation to Tom and any others...
Isn't it amazing that so much time and money is being spent by The
Broadcast Group for the purpose of muzzling their most popular, and I
would assume money-making, talent? It isn't any longer a matter of
whether Tom's personal rights are being trampled, although it is
certainly clear this is involved. It is now an interesting test of
whether people -- any people, but in this case simple radio listeners --
can be restricted in their right to speak to other people about anything
they darn well please.
Sponsors -- regardless of their power of monetary persuasion -- are
nothing more than people offering other people -- us -- a product or
service for sale. We should have the right -- inherent in the First
Amendment -- to tell them what we think of their product or service, OR
how they propose to provide that product or service to us.
This is just "unbelievable", to coin a phrase. Good luck, Tom.
(By the way, I completely missed the "editorial" which was run a few
times yesterday. Can someone fill me in on the gist?

   Re: (R)FRIENDS OF TOM LEYKIS

I tried to reply, but the board was full. This is the first time I
could leave you a message. The "attached list" was simply a print-out
of some of the messages on this BBS. One of the messages was from you.
Unless you were served, you need not appear in court, unless you want to
see what is going to happen. If you want a copy of the various court
papers, they are public records now and can be given out.

You are asking a legal question and I am not an attorney. All I can
tell you is that the people listed are Bill Dougan, Jan Doe Dougan,
Friends of Tom Leykis, and John Does and Jane Roes. My name does not
appear, yet I was served. I am not a member of the group "Friends of
Tom Leykis", but someone must think that I am. I did send out letters
with my home address and with copies going to Fred Weber. I wasn't
trying to hide anything. Maybe that is why I was served. As for anyone
else, I cannot answer....

   Re: (R)FRIENDS OF TOM LEYKIS

Sorry, I forgot to answer one of your questions. The attachments
(exhibits) were copies some of the messages on this BBS. There is/was
a "mole" on the BBS. However, if you have read a message from the
SYSOPS the mole may or may not be gone and if I understood another
message from the SYSOPS, copies of all of these messages were ordered by
the court to be turned over to Fred Weber's attorneys. You would have
to check with the SYSOPS to see if I understood that correctly.

   Re: (R)TRIBUNE

I have a copy of the article, but would not be able to reprint it here
without using up my full time, plus. If you want to call me at home
(937-0563), I will arrange to send you a copy or read it to you.
