According to good ol' Aster Scott, this device was used as part of a
procedure called "patterning." A wheel with different colored areas of
translucent plastic is mounted to a motor, which slowly revolves
and thus presents changing colors to the patient. Apparently, this is
supposed to somehow get the brain back in synch, as it is used on patients
with various neurological disorders. I don't think it works very well --
nightclubs use similar devices for special effects on the dance floor, and
most of the people I've encountered in these places are brain damaged.

Subject: Cliff/Bush speech
Date: 09/07/89 Time: 05:45:49
As for a drug free America, I am as supportive of that as anyone, but I do
think that Bush's speech was just so much more BS, that will wind up
becoming totally unrecognizable once it gets through the legislative system.
Simply throwing good money after bad is not the answer. Millions to the
producing countries will do little if any good, since the leadership of
those countries is corrupt, and in abject fear of the drug cartels who
really run the show down there. Any effort by the Columbian government will
be less than a bandaid at best.
Prison overcrowding could be resolved overnight if this country were to
return to a system of justice instead of just punishment. That means
immediate carrying out of the death penalty for those accused of capital
crimes, and th immediate release, on supervised work programs, of those who
are not a physical threat to others. THese (the white collar criminals come
to mind first) are not being rehabilitated sitting in a cell, nor is justice
being served. Justice would include total restitution to the victim of
whatever was stolen, embezzled or whatever. If these people, who are of no
real threat to society, were on electronically supervised home arrest
programs, with supervised work programs within the community, they could
become productive members of society again, their ill gotten gains repaid to
the victims, and a tremendous relief would be realized by the overburdened
prison system. As to the penalties for drug dealers, any and all
profiteering from the sale of drugs should be a capital offense, and the
death penalty swift and sure, since they are responsible for more deaths
than any rapist, murderer or whatever. No prison overcrowding there!

WHere does the merry-go-round stop?
Bush wants to throw somethin like 9 BILLION dollars into the drug war. Out
of our pockets. Arizona's latest committee, Fiscal 2000, predicts a billion
dollar shortfall in the next 10 years, and guess where they suggest it be
made up? Income and property taxes, of course! The city of Phoenix is now
going ahead with Zef Bufman's $35 million amphitheater, in spite of the fact
that it was exactly that project that gave impetus to the voter's initiative
that will, if passed, prohibit the concil from doing things like this
without our specific permission. Now the same council expects us to approve
yet another $100 million for a baseball stadium downtown! Also to be backed
in a large part by property tax increases! To say nothing about the big hole
the grand prix put us into, and guess where THAT oney is going to come from!
Stop the world! I think I wand to get off!

Re: allergic reaction to aspirin going away in a couple of days: - I'd had
it over a week and it was miserable with no signs of departing. Besides, I
did not know what was causing it.
No - I did not stop taking it. They do not recommend it - but they want
patients to have a say so in their own healing and I was adament about it.
With the type of Arthritis I have, if you use inflamatory drugs at the
onset, there is a good chance there is no crippling or deformity. I have
none except for a slight bow in my little finger. I did do what they
recommended re: diet and hot sitz baths for six months - along with the
aspirin. I don't know if the diet worked or not, but I sure lost weight!
(no red meat and sugar!) After 2 years I had to stop taking the aspirin and
my reg. doctor put me on a powerful inflanatory drug that worked fine. Took
it two years - he checked my blood and told me I could quite taking all
drugs! Now, I only take it occasionaly.
I have faith in the clinic because they listen to YOU! They tell you the
treatment and YOU choose what you want to do. If you need an operation, they
will tell you and recommend a doctor that is sympathetic to the 'Cayce way'
of healing. This would mean a personal relationship with the doctor, hugs -
chats - and attention. I.E. my mother in law had a very serious heart valve
replacement several years back - she never saw the doctor before or after
the operation - but she sure paid him handsomely! You can have that! If the
Cayce clinic is quackery, then give me quackery anytime! -=*) ANN *(=-

"Religion hasn't done a damn bit of good." If you believe that, you
have had your head in the sand. You refuse to really read and absorb Mikes

starters. Jails are full of Atheists that have killed and raped. There
goes your brother hood dogma... Oh yes, you will tell us that most are
Christian who do this... That is because their Lawyer told them to say they

It has been said many times that religion is the basis for
morals, and even that morality would be impossible without it.
This view assumes that values must be imposed upon men externally
in order to be shared and acted upon. If mankind consisted mainly
of irrational beings this would be true, but the values
consistent with survival and advancement through specialization
reveal themselves readily to rational people and become a basis
for a common system of ethics.
Threats and promises from beyond this world may work to impose
order on those who believe in such things, but they go too far
when they declare that this is the true and only morality.

One doesn't need to be found guilty of anything to be put into handcuffs.
The powers that be need only decide that you are a danger to others, to
yourself or that one could reason that you might try to escape. Since
Bakker is becoming mentally incompetent, it is not unreasonable to keep him
under tight control.

Subject: Ann/Gambling
Date: 09/07/89 Time: 21:13:55
There are probably several reasons that the city is trying to do away with
social gambling. One of them many be that the lobbyists in Nevada are
powerful people. If people can gamble here then why go all the way to
Vegas. Besides the odds here are better at an individual winning than in
Vegas.
Another reason may be the old story about them so-called moralists. If it
feels good then you can almost bet that it is against the law.
Reason three: The city has not found a way to get a cut of the big bucks
that are flowing through the gambling halls. The odd are better at winning
at blackjack (much) than at playing the Arizona Lottery.
I believe the reasons are basically economical because there has, to my
knowledge, been no wholesale murders, robberies or fights from same.
My final reason is that I really do not know, being far removed from the
action. -Rod

If Christians did not have the ten commandments, especially the one
that says, "Thou shall not kill", just think: Our murder rate would be
ten times higher. It's a damn good thing that this particular
commandment does not apply to wars, eh! It is also a good thing that
it doesn't apply to 'blowing away' an armed intruder. Because if it did
then just having those intentions, according to the Christian Bible,
is a crime in itself.
It is good that God was not more specific in that commandment. The
interpretation has been left up to humans. And like everything else
that, thus far, man has devised, is imperfect. However I was
impressed by our recent pictures of Neptune. -Rod

Actually, the "powers that be" had nothing to do with it. Bakker was in leg
irons because his lawyers suggested it would engender sympathy. If you look
closely, they aren't even regulation irons. They are the theatrical type,
and came from Bakker's well furnished "Rumpus Room". Word has it that
Bakker was planning to shave his head, but decided that unkempt hair would
produce that "pitiful wretch" effect more easily. It was revealed that he
spends an hour and a half before each court appearance being made up to
provide that "I don't care, my life is a nightmare" look, and takes weekly
lessons from an acting coach who gives seminars on "Bombastic Facial
Grimaces".

According to the Mayan sacred book, Popol Vuh, after the Makers created the
Earth and the plants, they created animals, because they wanted their
creations to praise them and call them by name. When they saw that it was
impossible for the animals to speak, they got pissed off and condemned the
animals to be eaten and sacrificed. Then they created an animal that could

Date: 09/08/89 Time: 01:19:34
I decided that we weren't getting anywhere over this "Thou Shall Not
Kill" discussion. Therefore I took it literally to the top. I
invoked a 'chat with God' over the issue.
He was a hard Man to reach but a 'special prayer' did the trick. I
would, in all fairness, have to describe this Man as rather shy,
doesn't like to communicate much. He would rather send the messages
through the Madonna or some other minor, but well known, Deity.
In any case, I did manage to get Him to hear me out on this important
issue and here is what He said: (NOTE: I have it all on tape recorder
so anyone who doubts me can hear for themselves.)
Rod: "Would you please clear up Your Commandment, 'Thou Shall Not
Kill', Please, Simon sez?"
God: "Yes. I sent that to Moses three, maybe four thousand years ago.
That was my V .01 of The Law. It means that you or anyone else can't
walk up to a total stranger and take their life from them. Nor can
you plot and carry out a murder scheme on someone that you know. And
in haste you cannot kill another human being.
But it is perfectly okay, and I understand, if you have these big (or
small) wars and chop each other into little pieces. (Why do you think
I allowed you to have those marvelous weapons? Napalm was one of my
better ideas, don't you think?) You can also kill, by any means, any
soul that you believe is going to take your life. It's okay, no
punishment at all. Of course, all animals other than man is killable
at your discretion. Do whatever you like there. As far as traffic
fatalities go, well, we just let them slide. Those don't get put on a
persons record unless they are on purpose.
Well, I'm a busy person so I hope this clears the matter up. Bye-bye
Roddy."
NOTE: It is now my understanding, per the conversation, that 'it is okay to
kill some of the people, some of the time but not all of the people, all of
the time'. Makes sense to me. -Rod
