1:Yes, it is the electronic age answer to the old, water prayer-wheel. It
2:would totally get rid of the flucuation in water-current rate. The gods

Like wow! You have lumped a whole bunch of popular misconceptions into one
post there, gal! Don't know if I can answer all of them at once, except to
say that, rather than follow the doctrines and traditions of men, look to
the Word of God, which is consistent and the ultimate truth, and follow it.
If the Bible does not address a certain subject, then it is up to you to use
your God-given sanctified common sense and good judgement to adress th
subject in the most Godlike way you can, walking always in the light that
God has given you.
As to the age of the world, since all the "believers" cannot come up with
one scintilla of actual evidence to support their 8-9000 year old theory,
and since there is plenty of room between Genesis 1:1 and 1:3 to allow for
millions of years of development, and since there are valid tests that can
date matter to millions of years, we have to go along with the idea that the
world is much older than some would have us believe. If we then can read the
Genesis record with an open mind and from a slightly different angle, it
tells us quite a different story. True, but different.
As to those who think that "the devil made me do it", or that "God gave me
some horrible physical problem to teach me a lesson", or that the fallacy
called reincarnation has any validity at all, all three are totally
unscriptural, man made falsehoods. The first is a Freudian copout from
personal responsibility, of which the Bible speaks frequently, the second is
a misapplication of the fact that God is able to turn that which would be a
negative in your life into a positive, but does NOT cause those negatives,
and the third is easily disproved by one scripture. Hebrews 9:27.

I recently received an offer to convert to MAP from my mortgage company.
If it wasn't for the fact that my house is on the market, and for the fact
that I am on a limited, once-a-month income, it sounds like a pretty good
deal. It's not for me, but for someone on a weekly income with a long time
left to pay on their mortgage, it could amount to a significant savings.

On C-Span this week the 1989 Libertarian Convention is being held. It has
thus far been very interesting.
On another note, it looks like taxes are going to be going up quite
substantially. Perhaps this will be 'the straw' that breaks the taxpayers
backs. Should be interesting.
Of course we need the money to fight the drug problem, ha,ha, and then again
we need it to support Israel and some other foreign interests.
Another Arizona bank went belly-up this past week. That makes three for the
year so far, not to mention the thrifts.

But some of us have HOUSE payments and CAR payments and OTHER
things that we PREFERR to do with our money.
(When there is any to spend).
I have found the prices for these gun courses to be somewhat
prohibitive. FOr the $1500 , I'd rather get my commercial pilots
ticket and *make* money.
Insinuating only "pansies" don't attend gun courses is like
me stating or insinuating that only geeks don't have their
ham-radio ticket.
But you didn't mean it that way. I know. But you simply must
refrain from adding derogatory terms .

This has been a widely known fact for many many years to
home-owners. I'm not curious enough to call, but
one thing I'm wondering about:
Is this some business? If so, why would anyone pay $$$ to
do something they can do all by themselves?
I know....
Like most of my "worldly" friends have said at one time or another;
"The only way to make big bucks quickly these days is through
a SCAM"
True, but unfortunate. DISCLAIMER: I'm not suggesting "MAP" is
a scam. O.k..you've been disclaimed.

ON THE ORIGIN OF MAN
Creationists believe that man was instantaneously created
by God, based on an account in a book called, "the Bible."
Several thousand years ago, a small tribe of ignorant near-
savages wrote various collections of myths, wild tales, lies
and gibberish. Over the centuries, these stories were em-
broidered, garbled, mutilated, and torn into small pieces
that were then repeatedly shuffled. Finally, this material
was badly translated into several languages successively.
The resultant text, creationists feel, is the best guide to
this complex and technical subject.

Hell is an outrage against humanity...Every step
which intelligence has made in Europe from the edge of darkness
has been in spite of the church --- Victor Hugo (1802-1885)
If religious people are so happy, why do they pray
so much? -- Anon.
Religions die when they are proved to be true.
Science is the record of dead religions -- Oscar Wilde
(1856-1900)
Truth is the poison of religion. When it is
discovered religion dies. Truth is the food of science. When it
is ingested, science evolves. -- Zak Woodruff
What ever knowledge is attainable must be attainable
by scientific methods; and what science cannot discover, mankind
cannot know. -- Bertrand Russell, 1935
Science can only ascertain what is, but not what should
be, and value judgements of all kinds remain outside of its
domain. -- Albert Einstein, 1950

Oh, I almost forgot. Today I read in the paper (it was on CNN, too) where
that old guy who does Quaker Oats commercials, Wilfred Brimley, secretly
runs a whorehouse in Nevada. He also belongs to Santeria, a cult of animal
sacrifice mixing elements of Catholicism and African heathenism. As a point
of interest, Santeria worshippers can be identified by the symbols they use,
the most universal of which is that wooden, cigar smoking indian that used
to sit outside general stores across the nation. I'm not sure why they use
this, but I swear it's true.

I called the toll free number on page 64 (in the box containing the
drawing of Dr. Gene Scott) one night a couple of months ago. It was about
3:30 am and I was reading in bed, and just decided to call the number. To
my astonishment, Dr. Gene Scott answered. He was apparently running some
sort of TV show, because he asked me whether I was watching on satellite or
cable. I told him, neither, that I was reading a book called "Science Made
Stupid", and on pg. 64 there was a drawing of him, with his phone number.
He said something to the effect that "Well, that's mighty interesting. You
save that book, because it's a collector's item." and then he hung up.
I also tried calling "Loschmidt's number" (in the glossary on pg. 75), but
that was apparently an invalid number.
Weller's other book in the same format, "Cvltvre Made Stvpid", is also
uproariously funny.
