No, you're quite correct, it isn't a sin and wasn't. Adam suddenly
had this accused feeling...embarassment would be better.
Imagine living all your life without ever seeing a mirror. Then suddenly
one day you find that your nose is the equivalent to the bill on
a toucan.
Everything was normal up to then. People accepted you up to that
point for who and what you are. Then you became
*self* concious.

I realize that your post was addressed to Mike, and I'm sure that he will
answer it appropriately, but I just had to put my nickle's worth in here.
Nakedness, while not sinful in and of itself, is used in a representative
way on several occasions in the Bible to indicate carnal knowledge. Outside
the bonds of marriage, in which all things are honorable according to
Hebrews 13, carnal knowledge is considered sin. Still is, as a matter of
fact, although you would hardly know it by looking at the mores of today.

I see what you are sayin, but admit to still not understanding. You say Adam
was embarrassed - self concious. These both are 'social things' and lets
face it, they didn't have a very big society then. If you took a child and
raised him in a society that didn't have those things - then he wouldn't be
either of them - even if he had the nose of a Tucan! In other words, if our
society touted the Nose of a Tucan as being the most in thing - the most
beautiful thing in the world, the person would never be self concious or
embarrassed. Social, see? So is nakedness.
I assume you do not believe in Evolution but believe in the Bible of how
mankind got started. If so, how do you explain away Evolution? Darwin's
theory certain makes a lot of sense. No argument here - just interest.

Please define 'Carnal Knowledge'! Marriage is only a legal contract. Are you
saying that because people may want (sexualy) other's even though they are
married is a sin? I've come to believe it's human nature, not a sin. And
speaking of that - where does it fit in in this discussion? I.E. - we reach
puberty and want sex. Yet not only is it bad socially, but is considered
sinful. We are born that way - it's NOT social. So, please also define Human
Nature. Again I say - no argument - just interest. -=*) ANN (*=-
P.S. I am not for cheating on a spouse. If you supposedly dedicate your life
to that one person through marriage and there's love involved, cheating
would come under the heading of hurting another. No religion is needed to
figure that one out. Just wanted to add this in case you got the wrong
opinion.

The paper seemed to indicate the reason for finally passing a paid holiday

As a point of historical interest, Buddha never claimed to be anything but a
man. I'm not sure exactly what his position on religion was, but I tend to
think it may have been atheistic. In any case, the modern form of Buddhism
has degenerated from a spiritualistic philosophy designed to end the
individual cycle of death and rebirth, into the rather silly deification
of a philosopher and the subsequent superstitious nonsense.

Being self concious doesn't require a society. It requires only one other
than one self to be self concious of what one does and how he she/interacts
with them. Adam & Eve to that point lived with God. I'd say that's quite
a society. Satan was there too, as were the animals...for which they also
had a respect for. If society declared a tucan nose was beautiful it
doesn't matter. The point being not that Adam had the nose of a Tucan,
but that he became aware of his own selfs condition. IN our terms they
were the idol of naivetie' (sp). Adam ate first, GAWKED at Eve like (wow)
and then realized "Hey, we're bare-a$$ed." Wouldn't you be a little
concerned realizing after waking up that you were naked and your DAD was
comming down the hallway?
Sure, there's some credence to Darwins theory...adaptation. Thats all.
Adaptation is the only thing he proved and we can duplicate. The rest
is in the words of another here "religious dogma." Faith in ones own belief
of what he/she holds true. Aside from some very serious shortcommings in
evidence, I don't believe there was anything in the way of external stimuli
to cause monkeys to turn into mankind. AFter all, we still have Monkeys
and they aren't turning into humans. Darwins' theory must be regressive as
well as progressive to be held true under any count. What came first?
The chicken or the egg..and what laid the egg? What did protoplasm come from
to make ameobas? Where did "Random particles colliding" come from?
We know nothing can come from something, but something cannot come from
nothing. Entropy is the governing force on Earth. God was the Alpha and
Omega, the first and the last. He said; "I AM". -Mike

There's really no need for a definition of carnal knowledge here. I think
you have a good handle on what it means.
If marriage to you is "only" a legal contract, then I'm afraid that you are
missing the best part of yours. Marriage is a spiritual bonding of two
people into one unit, the basis for our entire social and familial
structure. To violate that marriage by engaging in sexual activity with
another person is called adultery, and that is spoken much of, both in the
Bible, which is God's law, and in the courts of our land, which is man's
law, based for the most part on God's law. Not only does it violate those
laws, and not only is it called SIN (not merely a social event), but it
tends to destroy both the individual who commits it, through guilt and
remorse, and the individual against whom the offense is commited, through
the destruction of trust, faith and love, but it destroys the entire family
unit, children, in-laws, parents, etc.
Yes, the desire for sex is a natural desire. God created it to be so, and
He created the union of marriage for the satisfaction of that desire, as
well as for the propogation of the race and the individual's need for
companionship. To satisfy those desires outside of the bonds of marriage is
called fornication, and that, too is against the laws of both God and the
land. No matter how much you want to talk about it, no matter how much you
may argue against the facts, they still remain so.
Hope that answers your question.

I feel as I have always felt. I have no problem with a holiday in honor of
those who labored so hard in the field of civil rights and equal treatment
for people regardless of race.
I just think that they could have picked a better role model, since there
were literally thousands of good people just as involved as was King.
The holiday should have been in place a long time ago, and to use the hope
of a future super bowl game in order to get it through the legislature was
disgusting.
On a related topic, I also feel strongly that NO public funds should be
expended on such profit making ventures as stadiums, amphitheaters, races,
etc. Those things, if we are to have them, should be privately funded by
those who will profit from them. Vote NO! on 106, and YES!!! on 200!

Just because we cannot see things evolving, does not mean they arn't. Change

more than man ever thought they were capable of. These animals are capable
of actual thought and reasoning. How do you explain that? BTW - who knows
how God created mankind - the world? Why could He have not created them in
an evolution way? What's 6 days to God? It could have been 6 billion years
as far as we know. How do you explain the cave man? Was he an animal or

I agree with your post 100% re: marriage. That is exactly what it means to
me - but the marriage has nothing to do with that little piece of paper that
is only a legal document at best. That is what I meant! I can see no reason
why two people could not mutually consent to a life together and it be
considered marriage without the piece of paper. So I see no sin to it if it
doesn't exist. Why would God demand a legal paper? Marriage is in the heart,
not in the government. I only believe in it to protect the wife. A woman can
commit herself to being a mother & housewife for 30 years or so and then the
husband want's out and she has no legal way of getting what's hers if the
state doesn't not recognize common law marriages. He may be made to pay a
little child support, but doesn't own her a thing legally. -=*) ANN (*=-

the mail yesterday that might be mail fraud or at least bordering on it.
A few weeks ago we received a magazine called Farm & Ranch. As far as I
knew, it was just one of those things they send to try to get your
subscription. I did not read the literature that came with it, scanned the
magazine and threw it away. We got this statement that says in part ....
'2nd NOTICE. Amount due - $12.98. Please return this portion with you
payment. (this looks completely like a late notice - it was attached to the
top of the page)
It went on ... Dear subscriber, A few weeks ago you received your first
issue of .. etc. etc. However, along with that issue we sent you an invoice
and our records indicate that up until today, it has not been paid.
As you'll recall, we've asked you to write "Cancel" on your first invoice if
you decided not to subscribe to our magazine after seeing the sample issue
you requested. (I DID not request anything Paul!) Since you did not tell us
to "Cancel", we assume you are enjoying the magazine. So, won't you please

this subscription was brought up and I found out she fell for this and sent

ordered it.
Isn't these sort of tactics against the law Paul? I looked through the page
carefully and nowhere does it indicate that it isn't a legitimate bill. In
fact, it fooled me for awhile into thinking that perhaps I did indeed order
it. But what do I want with a Farm & Ranch magazine in the heart of Phoenix?
Ha. Anyway - should I report this to the post office? Should I wait to see
if they send me another bogus bill and perhaps threats? Thanks.

The same thing happened to me about a year ago. I just kept throwing the
invoice in the trash. Finally I got a nasty letter from a collection agency
making threats of legal action if I did not pay for the magazine. That
really got my attention. After writing several letters to both the magazine
and the collection agency, it was straightened out.

law abiding, tax paying citizen, It seems you are guilty until proven
innocent.

them with "did not order, please cancel" written across it.

Look up the number of the Postal inspector in the phone book, and tell them
this very interesting little story. It could be that some fly by night
subscription crew is at work in the area, sending in phony subscriptions to
build their business. If so, there will no doubt be other complaints filed.
At any rate, the law states that you neither have to pay for or return
anything that was sent to you unsolicited. Let me know what happens. If you
need a few further hints, and the inspectors don't help, I have another ace
up my sleeve, but it's final desparate measures. Good luck!

James Hawley has uploaded an ATARI ST program that will convert
Atari ST pictures to the GIF format. It will also let you view other GIF
files.... such as the ones Ann Oudin uploaded to Apollo.
The File is: ATARICNV.ARC and can be found in Apollo's [L]ibrary.
If you forget the name use the [S]earch cmd and type in GIF as the search

Last evening I dreamed that I knocked on the door of James Hawley's

unfortunately I have been hired to kill you." Then I shot him.

Did I die? When I shook your hand I pricked your hand with a slow acting

noticeable reaction will be the total loss of all sexual desires. Next you

Nick's bed was drenched is sweat after his dream. He sat up quickly and the
morning sun made him shut his eyes against it's piercing rays. His dream had
made his mind muddle, but as it started to clear, the jarring thought came
to him. "My god, I have been hired to kill James. Was this dream a warning
that he will poison me?"
He jumped up and headed for the bathroom. He looked at himself close in the
mirror. He didn't look like a killer, but the money had been to irresistable
and his car payment were extremely high. He tried to shake off the feeling
of impending doom, but it wouldn't go away. He went back into the bedroom,
got his black shorts, black T-shirt, black socks, black pants and shirt and
swiftly put them on and glanced at his form in the closet mirrors. "Gads,
but I look like a killer now!" He chuckled to himself.
He shook off the thought and went into the bathroom again and opened the
hamper where he had hidden the gun. He picked it up, rubbing his hands over
the cool black metal. "I must be careful and not shake hands with James!
Perhaps a hug, but no hand shakes or kisses!"
Feeling confident, he headed towards the door, getting another brief glance
at himself in the mirror, then he closed and locked the door. His black
gleaming car waited for him in the garage but when he got in ..........

Suddenly, a banging at the door caused Cliff to come out of his reverie.
Since it was very late at night, he un-snapped his holster just in case it
was an unsavory charactor behind that door.
He slowly opened the door. Before realization set in and he could make a
move toward his gun, a hugh axe came down right in the middle of his head,
sending gore and brain matter all over the north wall and his china cabinet.
From the downstairs computer room, Dandy Sandy heard the noise and she too
un-snapped her holster. She slowly climbed the stairs and before she knew
what had happened, she slipped in the gore. But before she hit her head on
the china cabinet, she saw who had done such a deed and knew she'd never
