Subject: Rod on drugs
Date: 09/15/89 Time: 00:57:39
I have not been drunk in years.... When is the last time you took
drugs? Or better yet, when is the last time you sold illegal drugs (poison)
and added to the problems of the world. Talk about Caitalist PIG, off the
misery of other people no less.
Hypercrit!
As far as I know, a brandy now and than is perfectly legal. But if
it were to be made illegal, I could give it up in a second! And let me
correct you on a small fact... cigarettes have killed more people than
brandy or booze in general. Neither one taken to excess is any good for
your health.
P.S. Unlike you, I do not need a drink or a smoke as a CRUTCH! The only
thing I get high on...is LIFE and my love for Sandy!
*=* the 'Mighty' Apollo SYSOP *=*
P.S.S. Rod, you had better screw your head on straight, and have a rational
talk with God before it is too late. We on Apollo care for you, but we
can't make you see the light... let lose of your hate and anger, it's all in
your mind.

If they made all guns illegal tomorrow, could you also give it up in a
second?
Everyone has something that they believe is morally right or wrong. You
think that Rod is wrong and you are right. There's nothing wrong with that,
but you have to understand that Rod feels the opposite.
You obviously don't agree with much of what Rod says, but I do think he has
the right to express them. Everybody keeps accusing everyone else of hate
and anger. I think if Rod and Cliff just kiss (french?) they would be able
to debate each other more calmly. I know that Rod would enjoy it.
I think Sandy might be jealous.

Rod undoubtedly has the nicest bunch of kids I've ever met. I'd be happy to
have them as my own.
Kids shouldn't be made to be overly polite -- they have plenty of time to
become adults who are afraid to speak their minds. Anyway, if Rod's kids
kicked you or whatever, you probably deserved it.

You're right, Dabney, all test results are phony. As a matter of fact, I
just drank some Drano as an act of defiance. The label says to call a doctor
if ingested, but I know it's just because they get kickbacks from the
hospitals.

I didn't say all test results are phony. I merely pointed out that
manufacturer sponsored tests are suspect, and that, if Slick-50 were the
miracle product its makers touted it as, it would be embraced by the car
manufacturing/repair/maintenence/consumer advocacy community, which it has
not.
You may be on to something, however, with regard to the Drano. Did you know
that floride causes cavities? Ask Rod Williams: his sister's uncle's
step-daughter, or something, was once a dental hygenist, and can verify
this.

Subject: Frontal Lobotomies
Date: 09/15/89 Time: 04:09:44
From "The Browser's Book Of Beginnings, by Charles Panati:
The origins of modern psychosurgery can be traced to a research report
delivered by two neurologists at a London conference in 1935. Drs. C.
Jacobsen and J. Fulton reported on an experiment in which they rendered a
violent chimpanzee docile by surgical removal of the frontal lobes of the
cerebral hemispheres. A Portuguese neurologist, Antonio Egas Moniz, rose
after the talk and asked: "If frontal lobe removal prevents the development
of experimental neuroses in animals and eliminates frustrated behavior, why
would it not be feasible to relieve anxiety states in man by surgical
means?" Within a year, Moniz and a surgeon, Almeida Lima, had performed
several such operations. Hearing of their success, two American doctors,
Walter Freeman and James Watts, adopted the proceedure in the late 1940's.
A surgical instrument called a "precision leucotome," a blunt knife, was
inserted into small holes made in the temples at the side of the skull. The
blade was then swept up and down to cut the nerve fibers that run between
the frontal lobes and the limbic system, or emotional center of the brain.
Violent patients were calmed, but usually at the cost of chunks of memory
and gross alterations in their personalities, so much that they became
"different people."

Subject: frontal lobotomies 2
Date: 09/15/89 Time: 04:20:30
The dapper, charismatic Freeman, in his eagerness to bring the relief of
lobotomy to the largest number of sufferers from mental anguish, introduced
this "blind" surgical proceedure to the United States in an even simpler
form. The patient was merely stunned by an electric shock to the head, and
a sharp metal icepick was hammered up through the thin bone directly above
the eye, then swept from side to side to cut through the frontal lobes. The
main complaint Freeman heard was that patients got black eyes. Freeman was
something of a showman, touring the country, performing operations in front
of lecture halls of students and on close-circuit television, often without
sterile precautions. Each side of the brain could be "done in a couple of
minutes," he boasted, and "an enterprising neurologist [could] lobotomise
ten to fifteen patients a morning." One day in 1951, in Spencer, West
Virginia, he operated on twenty-five women in a single workday. Though
Freeman's critics deplored the lobotomised patient's dullness -- "It does
disturb me to see the number of zombies these operations turn out," wrote
one fellow physician -- Freeman himself argued that "lobotomised patients
make good American citizens . . . the operation has potential for
controlling society's misfits -- schizophrenics, homosexuals, radicals..."
By the mid-1950s more than 19,000 Americans alone, including prisoners and
children, had been lobotomised. Finally, a storm of protests in the latter
part of the decade virtually halted Freeman's proceedure.

Wifey is doing fine, and I expect to be bringing her home this morning. She
will be off work and in need of a lot of TLC for the next 6 weeks or so, but
at least the house won't be so darn empty.
We are selling the house because the two of us don't really need 1500
square feet, and this place still has a few too many memories, at least for
my kids. We hope to be going into a secure mobile home park, where we can
put the key in the door sometime in May and come back in Sept. or Oct. when
the temperature gets reasonable again. I've had abouut enough of Arizona
summers.
As to the city council, where personal ambition and greed for self
aggrandizing monuments seem to have taken control of good sense and fiscal
responsibility, about all we can do is vote them ALL out, but what do we
have for alternatives? Kruglick it the only real opposition to Goddard, and
he's a recycled Mechamite. Johnson has no opposition at all! (He's the one
who expressed the opinion, when I shoved a petition under his nose and asked
him to sign it, that such a perfectly legal action was anarchy.) Maybe we
ought to wait for one of their "back room" meetings, where all the real
decisions seem to be made, and then burn the back room down.
Anyway, we will soon get a chance to express ourselves at the voting booth
again. 200 - YES! 106 - hell NO! Downtown stadium! Double hell NO!! Double
the mayors' and councils' salaries? Guess!

Subject: Cliff on sweet and .
Date: 09/15/89 Time: 07:33:09
That list is some of my 20% sweet! But most that you mentioned are material
things. I was talking mainly about the afflictions that hit us all ---
--- dying and death. (Usually not very pleasant. I only know a hand full of
people that just dropped over dead at an old age - no suffering!)
Illnesses that can worry you because they can cause the above. You can cut
your finger and die from it even in this day and age.
You get old and infirm no matter how well you took care of yourself over
your lifetime. The old Ticker starts to play out - you are constantly short
of breath and are confined to a chair.
There's Alzimer's desease and senility that can and will rob you of even
thinking when that may be all that you have left.
Theres - toothaches, gas pains, depression, constipation, bad backs, sinus
problems, allergies, Glycoma (sp?), losing your hair, bunions, halitosis,
etc. - the so called little affictions. There's the big league stuff like
living an intire life time with someone you love and they die on you,
leaving you alone and miserable. We all lose our parents - some will lose
their children. There's old age in general - you lose the elasticity of you
skin and it becomes wrinkled and dry. You become forgetfull and cranky.
According to society, you become un-useful and are put out to pasture. All
you end up with is your material things but they might not help if you end
up in a nursing home, sitting in your own pee! This is what I mean - the
bitter list is longer if added up. I'd reather have more sweet and not have
to learn so much appreciation for it. Just my opinion. -=*) ANN (*=-

I also liked them very much and none bit me. Ha. I liked everything about
Rod's house and hope to go back one of these days. It is comfortable and I
felt right at home. His kids are cute and bright and I chatted with many of
them and they talked like adults. I thought Jasmine as attractive and
interesting. I like all kids unless they are brats - I saw none there nor at
Cliff's house. I do admit to knowing Travis and Tyler more because they have
been here a lot. They beat the heck out of my spoiled grandkids. It will be
nice to watch them grow up into handsome men.
Cliff: I will have to say, my grandkids were bought up in a Christian home
and went to a Christian school until the eighth grade and it didn't help
them much - ALL got completely away from it when they got old enough to
choose. A parent can only just do so much. It's up to the kid at some time
in life. Who knows? -=*) ANN (*=-

Rod, I was wrong on that.. It seemed like two days but it was just
over 29 and 1/2 hours. I should have said two logins, and NOT two days.
To answer James Hawley... of course Rod can post his thoughts
here... But can't I do the same? I have not kicked him off and when I have
a minor problem with his wording...I ask HIM (Rod) to fix it, so it stayes
in his own words. It just gets kinda hard to sit here and get bashed by Rod
all the time calling Christians "Un-Thinkers"... "Stupid" and so on. I do
not think Rod is an Un-thinker, I just think he is confused and his whole
argument is wraped around a false notion.
Nick... Just maybe I deserved to be BIT and kicked now and then.
But I still think Children should be taught manners and to respect the
adults around them. This is just my thoughts on this and I do not force
this idea on anyone else... Adults should also respect childern in return
if the child earns it. Children are our future.... Note that I don't call
them 'Kids' (as in goats), though some of them act like it.
If people RESPECTED other people, we would have a better world.
Is there a better place to teach respect then at the home?

Subject: Rod on DRUGS..?
Date: 09/15/89 Time: 11:22:54
Rod.. I don't want to attack you on drugs.. but you seem insistant
that you are going to attack me on drinking, even though I do NOT drink but
a very few drinks over a very wide span of time. I hate beer.... I do not
go to bars but I do like a little (very little) brandy now and then. Not
even enough to get a buzz. If I were to get a Buzz (and I do now and then)
I don't like to go out driving around. I get more of a buzz from allergy
medicine (that I hate by the way) then I do from a drink.
There are a few other drinks that I ENJOY for the flavor and not to
just get 'smashed'. Drug users on the other hand, are just out for the
'HIGH' and not the flavor. They NEED that FIX or they can't cope!
If they outlawed booze... I would have no problem with that. I would
comply, however it is legal and I do not abuse it. The drugs you talk about
are not legal... BIG differance there buddy, even if it ain't always right.

Grrrrrrr, So what does that prove? Frank Lopinto is not here to
debate how he raises and what values he teaches his children.
I have seen some children in Christian schools that are there just
because mom & pop put them there. They do not really care to understand the
teachings of the Bible and they show it on the playground. They are rude,
bullies or what ever they wish to be. The children who do believe and learn
from the Bible, (because they want to believe) are much nicer to everyone.
They practice what they absorb, and make fun playmates.
As I said before, our boys Tyler and Travis want to learn, they go
to church completely on their own. They practice the love they learn from
the Bible. They are good boys Rod... Eat your heart out!
P.S. We have not had to pick them up at a police station yet... ha ha ha ha

Re: "Suffering builds character."
Romans 5:3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we
know that suffering produces perseverance;
5:4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love
