Hey.......Roddie.........
You sound more like you don't want any system at all!
In the most perfect system of all, there would be one demand on every member
or citizen, and that would be that everyone is responsible for each and
every action he/she makes, including what she/he says. Not only would you
be responsible for not harming anyone by your actions, you would also be
responsible for not causing any damage by what you said.
In that case wouldn't everyone be able to do whatever they wanted, unless it
harmed someone else? And could you live up to the demands such a society
would make on you?
Think about it.
See Y'aa..........

Your complaints about "capitalism," "society," and so on are petty and
self-indulgent. You talk about how miserable your childhood was because
your parents didn't provide for you as they should have. Well, you're
right. Your parents fell short. Everyone ought to grow up in a stable
family and have his basic needs provided for until reaching the age of
majority. The fact that you were denied this is not a failing of "society,"
however, it is a failing of two individuals: your mother and your father.
And not much can be done about it now; you're a grownup, Rod, and you may as
well start acting like one.
Whatever is wrong with your life at this point, it is your responsibility,
not the fault of "capitalism" or "the system." Yet you are intent on
magnifying not only your own minor problems, but the minor problems of our
nation as well. Your unforutunate childhood or the existence of a handful
of homeless people become an indictment of society. So you blithely embrace
communism or whatever doctrine can upset people and call attention to your
"suffering." When it's pointed out to you that communism means children
starving to death in Ethiopia and being maimed by Soviet bombs in
Afghanistan, you sneer at those who truly suffer. You cannot expect
compassion from us because your father deserted you at age 15 when you have
none for the Afghan child who is maimed by a Soviet bomb at age 9.
You remind me of myself a few years ago: indiscriminately rebelling against
society, trying to tear down what is good rather than repair what is

I never said that my childhood was miserable. On the contrary, I
thought it was a good one at the time because I didn't know any different.
I just figured that god was testing me or something. Besides I always read
my horrorscope so I knew what would happen to me each and every day.
Yep, my father was a failure alright. I guess he couldn't handle
this here pig capitalism. He was in the U.S. Marines in the early to mid
forties and when he got out, I guess he just didn't like to, or couldn't
handle paying rent. Sheesh.
The reason that people do not realize that they are kin is because
in order to realize this fact, one has to have understanding and because we
live on a basically illiterate planet, this important substance is lacking.

A face-to-face meeting usually consists of social pleasantries that don't
require much thought. Many people who seem level-headed in person prove
quite muddleheaded when they try to expound in writing on a complicated
thought. Ann's comments here look to be off-the-cuff remarks that might not
be out of place in a conversation but look incredibly stupid when they are
presented as the products of thought. Rod, I'm sure you know, is quite
capable of being a muddlehead in person -- indeed, spoken muddleheadedness
is Rod's forte even more than written muddleheadedness.

All those fgures you took three messafes to throw around undoubtedly came
directly from Reagan administration propogande, and proves nothing more than
the fact that a good liar can make figures and statistics say anything he
wants them to say. The same goes for polls also. They can be slanted to
indicate anything the pollster wishes to emphasize.
If you who are so mesmerized by the second-rate actor and fourth-rate
politico would get your eyes out of the smoke and swindle sheets, and back
to reality, you might see some truths that Ronnie baby would rather keep
secret. Like the small business bankruptcies. Like the increase in homeless.
Like the phony unemployment figures that have been deflated only because
most of the "jobs" that this administration has created are substandard and
incapable of adequately supporting a family. Like the disaster that his
"healthy economy" really is.
You might, but I doubt it.

No, I don't remember a time when there were two worse choices to choose
from. Basically, I'm a democrat - but I don't care for Ducaca at all and
don't trust him - ditto Bush. It also seems this is the worst compain for
back stabbing that I remember. What happened to politicians like Kennedy,
Truman and Roosevelt? No angels there - but they inspired the people - made
them hope for a better future. I can't gather one ounce of hope in either
candidate. It'll just be more of the same - a few good things will change
but a lot won't - our taxes will just go up for one reason or another - the
government will get more control over us - the middle income will continue
to be squeezed - the cost of living will go up some more etc. etc. Nothing
new or inspiring! I only hope that the one choosen will keep his damn
finger off that 'button'! See you. =*--ANN--*=

The figures Hathaway cited are prepared by career civil servants in the
Census Bureau, and are not "Reagan propaganda." Indeed, the Census Bureau
figures paint an unduly pessimistic picture of the condition of American
families, because, as Hathaway pointed out, they fail to take into account
in-kind benefits, including both government benefits such as food stamps,
public housing, and Medicaid, and fringe benefits from employment, such as
medical insurance. They are only useful to charting general trends, and
those trends are unmistakable: stagnation between 1973 and 1987, a dramatic
decline between 1979 and 1982, and robust growth since 1982 -- that is,
since Reagan's economic policies took effect.
There simply isn't anything to the doom-and-gloom scenario Dukakis and his
supporters describe. Of course, these statistics don't mean much to the
average voter -- most people, like yourself, lack either the intelligence or
the interest to concern themselves with nationwide economic trends. People
vote their own pocketbooks, and Dukakis's message will have resonance among
the limited group of people who have been casualties of the normal
vicissitudes of the economy. But this group is quite small, which assures
that, unless Vice President Bush gives people a very good reason to vote
against him (e.g., an outrageous statement during the debate), he will be
the next president. Indeed, I will be surprised if Bush gets fewer than 400
electoral votes.

"That's OK Rod. It didn't hurt a bit and I need the walk to get myself back
into shape. And by the way, thanks for saving my life!"
"Don't mention it friend, but now I must get back home and think this thing
out. We can't let this happen again. See you later James!"
Rod gets back in his van and gooses the engine, spraying James with little
pebbles as he drives off.
That night was a repeat of the night before! The rain came down in a fine
drizzle and the traffic was almost nil and it was actually quiet - people
preferring to be at home, cuddled up under electric blankets or in front of
their fireplaces.
Sandy and Cliff were no different. They were cozily nestled on the couch in
front of the television, watching the late show. The lights were turned off
as they snuggled warmly together. Cliff was almost dozing.
Suddenly, Sandy smelled something awful. She sat up abruptly, jarring Cliff
awake.
"What's the matter dear? Is the program over?"
"No, no, listen. Can you hear that noise? And what is that terrible odor?
Did you forget to put out the garbage again Cliff?"
They both could hear a muffled sound coming from their bedroom upstairs and
it had suddenly became very cold in the house.
"I did put the garbage out!"
"Oh my God Cliff - someone is in the house!" Cont.

"No one could get in Sandy. It must be the boys fooling around again. Won't
you please settle down baby. No one is getting in here!"
"We put the boys to bed hours ago! I tell you, someone is in here. Go look
and take the gun with you!"
"Ok! Ok! But your being ridiculious"
Both of them crept up the stairs. The front door was wide open and wet
footprints were on the carpet - both coming and going! The carpet was
thoughly soaked.
They went up to their bedroom and Cliff switched on the light. The room was
a total wreck! Their bed looked like it had been hacked to pieces!
"Who would do such a thing?" Sandy sobbed. "What a cruel trick to play on
us"!
"This is no trick!" Cliff said. "You didn't make the bed this morning and it
looked like we were in it with the covers piled up like that! Some one meant
to kill us!"
"That can't be true! We have no enemies!"
"We have one enemy and that's David Burkhart!"
"Have you gone Crazy Cliff? David's been dead over a year!"
"I just know it's him - somehow! I also know he plans to kill us all and I
can even guess the next victim!"
Sandy begin to shake violently - her teeth rattling. "Who is the next
victim? Who?"
