That's idiotic. Inflation isn't a function of capitalism; it's a function
of government incompetence. Inflation is a form of government taxation, as
they inflate their way out of debt.
When the market is allowed to work, it results in a better standard of
living, not worse. That's why the the slowdown in standard of living growth
coincides with the growth in government.
But I don't know why I'm telling you this. You obviously haven't absorbed a
new idea in twenty years.

        Very well put.
As for Rod ........ Before he can 'light up' with a new idea Rod will have
to put a light bulb in first.
And Rod would never think of going out and buying a light bulb, thus putting
money into the hands of a capitalist store owner.

That was an excellent post and true. But forget trying to convince anybody.
They all make excuses for why everything is the way it is and call you
idiotic for not understanding why things can't be better! A losing battle!

"By the rule of capitalism, profit and growth are the motives. In order to
make more, prices must rise on a continuum."

Well, let us consider this. Inflation is a measure of the change in prices.
The faster prices are going up, the higher the rate of inflation. To look
at it another way, inflation is a measure of the rate of decline in the real
value of money. If inflation is, say, 5% in 1988, that means that at the
end of the year, a dollar will be worth only 95.2 cents in 1987 dollars.
You seem to think that a company is somehow gaining if it is earning profits
in dollars that are worth only 95.2 of last year's cents. Your logic (if
any) escapes me. Because of inflation, a company can be expected to raise
its prices to cover its higher nominal expenses (including wages) and to
increase its nominal profits. But a company making $1,000,000 in profits
this year, assuming an inflation rate of 5%, is no better off than a company
making $952,000 in profits last year. (This is a bit of a simplification,
since inflation is spread unevenly; e.g., this year, food prices have gone
up while oil prices have declined.)

The people who benefit directly from inflation are those in debt, since
debts are paid off in nominal dollars plus some fixed interest rate.

But government hasn't raised taxes in 20 years or more. At least
that is what you said on the main board a month or two back.
With out government, the greedy capitalists pigs would raise their
standard of living by raising their profits. I think they are called wind
fall as in oil.
Yes, you are correct David, I haven't absorbed a new idea in thirty
years. You are begining to parrot JT, hmmmmm.

1: Okay, then why are the rich getting richer and the poor, poorer.
2:Don't answer, I already know. This system, by observation, not by the book,
3:is running poorly, if at all. The nations prisons are full, welfare rolls
4:are crowded and you people hum along like, wow, you think it is working or
5:something. No way. The working class is being walked over and continually
6:conned by the leisure class but to hear you and Burkhart tell it, everything
7:is running okay, providing Burkhart believe that government has not raised
 8:taxes.
9: If there is a sore on your arm then something is wrong with your
10:body.....well if the sore is not healing then something is terribly wrong.
11:This nation is the body and its arm does have a sore, a big one. Sure, its
12:the best damn system on planet earth and boy, am I proud.
13: Oh well.

There can not be a rapture .......
If it was to happen ....... 1666, would have been a more appropriate
date. Even sounds Biblical.
To the best of my knowlege the year 1666 has come and gone.

My IQ is 139. Protection for same is .931 in order for me to maintain 100%
mind use. Einstein's IQ was 169. Protection for same is .961. 5/4 logic
protection for the human mind translates into "circle" thought processes -
sig-gis. Positive thinking is used for making decisions and learning -
positive-reverse polarity - same direction. Positive thinking is used for
correcting mistakes and learning - reverse-positive polarity - same
direction. No doubt we can learn somethings the easy way. Namely, from
someone else. No doubt we learn somethings the hard way. Namely, we make
mistakes. Some have said that there is a fine line between genius and
insanity. There is in reality a dot (.)- mine is 139.931. Einstein's
169.961 - The dot is myself and it meets with me at 5. No problem! What's
yours? Thought process involves of course ability - however understanding
pulls in with wisdom if it is true understanding. You - yourself should
meet at five as I do. (.) or 5!!! ie to 1395.5931!!! - suggestion.... In
proper thought process both directions on the "Circle of Thinking" are used.
Both directions at the same time. One to make decisions. The other to
correct mistakes. Both are positive thinking. Pondering pulls in
meditation wich is mediumistic, spiritual, psychic and adptability. When
you start a circle of thought remember where you started. When you get back
to that same spot you will have completed one cycle. Regardless of how many
cycles of thought are necessary to think something thru, it is important to
remember where you started - otherwise you can get lost in thought. The
unreal world defined is no sense of direction because of loss of self.
Don't lose yourself in thought process - your mind is not a taperecorder.
