Paul - Ralph and I had the same problem. Cliff told me as far as he knew,
Apollo didn't go down - that others had logged in without trouble. Our phone
service in this area needs 'servicing'! Ha. Later in the afternoon, I tried

From October of 1984.....
  
Saturday night, Rich Fohl went to one of his CB rival's house to dissconnect
his CB antenna so he could not use the CB.  The man caught Rich doing this
and shot him.
  
     Hard to believe it was five years ago.... Rich, for those "new" to
Apollo, was a $tatus user here in addition to using many other BBSs.  He was
infamous for his "bombs", which my last was a bad imitation of..... After
five years, details of the incident are hard to remember.  If not for Rod's
book of Apollo messages from that time, I would remember very little of the
specific circumstances involving Rich's passing.
     I find myself asking things like -- Did he wear glasses?  What did his
voice sound like?  What would be a typical Rich wisecrack?  I remember the
beard and the gun.  Will I remember that next year?
     Just some comments about a former BBS'er I had the privilege of meeting
at GTs a dozen or so times.... Whose messages I enjoyed.  RIP, Rich.

Outside of the fact that the Dow dropped 190 points yesterday, Mecham hasn't
given up breathing yet, and Bush can't make up his head as to what side of
the fence he's on, there's nothing wrong with the good old USA.
 After all, Dallas is on for another season (isn't it?) and Hulk Hogan is
still the champ! What else is there?
 'Scuse me a minute. I have to go get my tongue out of my cheek.

        I got my AQC pin today with the best score to date easily passing
the 90% qualification.  I now proudly wear my 'REVOLVER SHARPSHOOTER' pin on
my USS NEW JERSEY BB-62 ball cap.  (My lucky shooting hat)

        Sandy shot along with me today... Off hand, and beat my high score
with an even higher score...  Sniff (tm)  That is why she is an Instructor
and I am only a lowly student.

P.S. Off hand means she shot with her OTHER hand and not her regular
shooting hand.... (Double Sniff (tm)
