I was told Apollo had some lively discussions, and I must say, I wasn't
dissapointed.

The latest "View From The Ledge" is out, with lots of weird
news. You get a free subscription if you send strange story
clippings to Chuck Shepherd, c/o Deadfromtheneckup, Inc, PO
Box 57141, Washington, DC 20037. Also, by mid-November at
the latest, Plume Books (an imprint of NAL Penguin) will release
_News of the Weird_, a "quality paperback" collection of
over500 of the strangest news stories of the last fifteen years
Some bits from the latest "View From The Ledge" (#29):
- Newlywed Darrell W. Lewis, 67, got a court order in North
Kingston, R.I., to keep wife Diane, 24, away from their home
after she threatened him when he found her kissing a
photograph of Johnny Mathis.
- Robert Cerney and Debbie Burmeister had to be rescued from
their folded-up sofa bed in Winona, Minn., after trying a "stupid
human trick" they were sure would get them an invitation to
appear on "Late Night with David Letterman."

- In Stockholm, a 92-year-old man, claiming his doctor had
made him blind, set out to murder him but mistakenly shot and
killed the wrong man in a medical center.
- Jim C. Brady, well-known creationist in Pensacola, Fla., pleaded
guilty to driving through a residential neighborhood and tossing
nude photos of himself out the window to children.
- Richard Rubin, 29, won $10,000 from K-Mart as a result of a
1987 incident in a Boynton Beach, Fla., store. Rubin accidentally
shot himself with a gun the clerk was showing him, but he had
difficulty proving damages for being out of work since he had
not filed income-tax returns for the last 7 years. Rubin
intended the gun as a "first-grade graduation present" for his
son, 8.
- A Greenville, S.C., jury gave Evelyn Kuykendall, 67, $300,000
for injuries suffered when faith healers Charles and Frances
Hunter failed to catch her when she fell backward after having
the spinal-injury demons exorcised from her body; the fall
broke her back.
All for now,

Amen. The only problem I have with it is that , sadly, we in District 3 have
no choice. Paul Johnson has lied to me and to other people he is supposed to
be serving, is a big proponent of such money wasters as the amphitheater,
the Suns arena, the downtown stadium, patriot's park, etc., and we have no
choice because nobody is running against him. I will not vote for him simply
because it is my habit not to vote for unopposed candidates.
The mayoral race is something else. We have a choice between Terrible
Terry, a Mecham troglodyte and a real estate peddler who doesn't have a clue
as to what's going on around him. Some choice! How about a space on the
ballot for "none of the above"?
Anyway, NO! on 1, a bigger NO!!! on the prop that doubles the concil's and
mayor's salaries, NO! on 106 and YES!!! on 200.
No also on the props dealing with historic places, etc. Such a thing, if it
is to be done, should be done with private money, just as sports arenas,
etc. should be built with private funds. If big money is not willing to
invest in such things, there can be only one reason. They're losers, which
means the initial investment is only he beginning folks. We will be
subsidizing these monsters for years to come! Watch your money! The council
isn't!

Do not vote for Skip Rimsza. My husband has been doing business with that
realty for two years - according to him, since Skip has decided to run, he's
gotten impossible - gotten on an ego trip and his business has gone to hell.
In other words, he has turned into a typical politician - not for the
people, but for himself - his grandizement, glory, laud and honor!

Sorry to hear that Paul... He was rated an 'A' by the 2nd Amendment
people. I also thought that those who spoke at the rally were all against
the "Base Ball arena".... They sure cheered when it was mentioned as a
thing to Vote...DOWN! (mentioned by Joe Abodeely of KFYI in his speech).
Since he is running Un-Opposed.... I would skip him too!
You are really down on anyone who knows Mecham??? Mecham's ideas
about NOT spending and NOT buying unless the money was already there...
were not bad ideas... It was his big mouth that got him in trouble... And
of course, some of it taken out of context by the News Paper that I no
longer get in protest (and they damn well know it too!) News media should
print the news...not make it or write it in such a way as to sway the
public.... because what you believe to be Mecham...is not really correct.
To each his own... ha ha ha. I am going to vote for Burt Kruglick,
just because I can't stand TERRY TOON GODDARD anylonger.... and his CrAzY
spending fling! Not that I think Burt is all that great... But to NOT Vote
will surly let Terry in again.... Almost like a YES vote for him... (sic)
I wish they we had someone better though..... sigh!
VOTE YES on 200... Pretty safe with a NO on everything else...
Can anyone say anything about 104 and 105?

Well Ann... the others running in district 1 are not that great on
the 2nd amendment..other than Peter Barnett who also is rated an 'A'.
There is Frances Barwood who is rated a 'B'.... but stay clear of the
others.... They want your GUN and your pool fenced and your yard inspected
yearly by the state. And...believe it or not, they think you should not be
allowed to even DEFEND yourself lawfully!
Sorry Ann...but Skip was rated the top spot in that district!?

It seems Barney Frank is holding a news conference on Capitol Hill. As he's
answering a question, he sees a gorgeous woman walking by -- blonde,
mini-skirted, a perfect figure, an unblemished face. Barney is mesmerized.
He gazes at her until she's out of sight, then mumbles, "Boy, you know, it's
times like this when I wish I were a lesbian."

I once picked up a hitchhiker who claimed to be Paul Johnson's son. It
seems that the pair of them had a falling out, and now the junior Johnson
roams the streets of Phoenix inebriated and wearing blue pants several sizes
too large.
Oh, he also mentioned that he was an architect trained by Frank Lloyd
Wright, who can't find work in either L.A. or New York because his designs
are too avant-garde.

I voted (E) because the truth of the matter is that it doesn't matter one
bit to me whether there is a MLK day or not. If there was a choice which
said: I don't care one way or the other, I would have voted it that way.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Hmmmmm. I don't see anything about unbaptized babies going to hell. Which

Re: "Any Catholic."
Catholics believe lots of things that are not in the Bible. Like praying to
dead people, purgatory, letters of indulgence, etc.
I think they might have thrown out the "letters of indulgence" because of
all the flack they caused.
