My company, and many others, hire programmers from two categories:
People already employed in other capacities who can demonstrate skill
and/or expertise in programming.
Also, newly graduated college students with appropriate degrees (Computer
Science, Math, Engineering, etc) who have shown an interest and aptitude
in programming by doing it in their spare time, or in volunteer type
jobs. They hired a young woman with a H.S. diploma and one semester
of college, because she had programmed her church's computer for them.
Another guy I know was a mechanic with the same company for several years.
He bought a PC and taught himself programming (assembly language and "C")
at home, and rewrote an application for his department.

William Moore. The movie title allegedly refers to a hangar at
Wright-Patterson AFB, which has no hangar numbered 18. According to Jim
Speiser, there *is* a building 18 there, but I've never seen any
documentation for that (nor any reason to suppose there are frozen aliens in
it).

In Romans 1 that you are quoting, homosexuality is not the only thing that
is tackled and called an abomination....It seems to be speaking about men
who have turned the likeness of God into something else and the list goes
like this:
1. Filled with wickedness, evil, green and depravity.
2. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice.
3. Gossips, slanderers, God haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful.
4. People who invent ways of doing evil
5. Disobedient to parents
6. Senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
A long list...and later we learn that liars and murderers are also on the
hit-list.
This section seems to be referring to past generations cause the PAST TENSE
is used almost exclusively and it seems that the perversion of sex was the
final result of the other character traits, and at that point, God gave them
up for they were obviously not wanting to be anything but the way they
were...ala Sodom and Gomorrah days...and there have been civilizations since
that time which have followed the same course...

Your message really had two parts to it that require a response.
In the first place, I do not rely on Webster to define religious beliefs,
but refer to the writings of that belief. WHere Christianity is concerned,
the Bible is the only authority, ot the dictionary, and the Bible is very
clear when it comes to sin, and especially unrepented of sin. Of course God
is a God of love. In fact He IS love, which is exactly why He made a way of
repentance and an avenue of return for those who love Him through His Son,
Jesus Christ. That is the main focus of the whole of Scripture. God hates
SIN, but loves the sinner so much that HE made all the sacrifice necessary
for redemption. Repentance on the part of the individual is STILL required
however, and there's no way around that, so my statement still stands, and
it stands in the Word of God. Just because you have read it and refuse to
accept what God has to say about it doesn't change it.
As to the comments concerning my wife, and her discomfort at the GT, my
remarks were aimed at Ann, not so much you, since she blew my original
remark way out of proportion and made all kinds of judgemental statements
that were far removed from anything remotely resembling truth. Go back,
since you keep all those messages, and read her uncalled for remarks in the
explosive response to my first mention of the subject, which was, as I
recall, nothing more than a brief, passing remark. I hope this ends this
nonsense, since I am getting sick of the whole mess. If I have to
continually take this knd of abuse, I may seriously consider doing you the
favor of removing Apollo from my list of BBSes. I don't really need this
crap. End of argument.

Yes, I do believe that the individual has everything to say about those

Paul, I do believe in the word of God in the Bible and I resent your
saying I do not! I just don't like the twisted hateful way you define what

PERFECT as you, but that does not make them less of a Christian.
The point that does not sink in to you, is God creates GAYs to begin

I can't and won't argue with the media publicity polls showing Mr. Bush
ahead of his oponent, but -
Is there anyone out there at this time who feels that Senator Quayle's
presence on the ticket has *** enhanced *** the Republican party's
position in the polls?
As an Oh, By-the-way, I read in US NEWS where some movie theatre company
conducted a political opinion poll of their patrons in 300+ movie theaters
around the country and found Mr. Bush nearly 20 percentage points ahead
of Mr Dukakis. U Snooze commented that this company had accurately pre-
dicted the presidential election results with this method for the past
umpteen elections.
Another OBTW:
Sure wish Jesse had been more mainstream and less of a demagogue while
he was running. He scared the BeJ... out of the establishment for a time,
but he was "right-on" with his policies about the national debt, trade
deficit, and worker's rights. Oh, well, maybe next time?

I grew up in the fifties when being a homosexual was almost a
hanging crime. Gays in those days hid deep in their closet. This did not
make for fewer gays. A gay is gay because of something in thier minds they
cannot control. Sex is sex, fulfilment is fulfilment. A person who is gay
would certainaly change under extreme duress (as in the forties & fifties)
if they could. They can't. Upstairs they know what they must do and as I
previously stated, you going to bed with another man would be as distasteful
as a gay going to bed with a member of the opposite sex.
It would seem to me that a person male have male organs but a female
brain. I blame it on mother nature.
Perhaps it is Her way of population control of the species.
Gays are not to be condemed. A gay will have no trouble finding a
suitable partner because there are many. I do object, of course, to a gay
or even a hetrosexual going after a child for sexual purposes.
I am a hetrosexual. When I was growing up I had many run-ins with
gay men and women. I saw their lifestyle but it never appealed to me
because upstairs I was made a hetro. I couldn't force myself to be gay as a
gay cannot force themselves to be hetro, it is the same difference.
