If your neighbor is so good I wish he had worked on my truck.
It took three trips to Sanderson's and they still couldn't locate the
problem. It took a neighbor of mine who has been working on cars and trucks
for years about 5 minutes to locate the trouble.
Sanderson has hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of fancy
trouble-shooting equipment. It took my neighbor a screw driver to remove the
distributor cap.
Maybe your neighbor should look for work elsewhere before Sanderson's ruins
his good reputation?

After driving and working on a GMC truck for the last 5 years, my husband is
ready to go back to a Ford - an older one - 1978 or 79. His GMC is an 1982
one. Of all the cars and trucks we've had over the years, the Fords gave us
less problems and were easier for him to fix. I had a Ford Granada for years
before I sold it when I got the Corvette. That old thing just kept running
and running and still is for the lady we sold it to. I'll admit, the Vette
doesn't give us problems - yet! It's fairly new - 1985 with 19,000 mile on
it. So time will tell. Of course, my Corvette isn't a Chevy, not is a
Lincoln Contenental a Ford or a Cadillac a Chevy either! Ha. But I wished
I'd of kept the Granada just in case - for a spare. I think I sold 'my soul
for beauty'!! Ha ha. *::=ANN=::*

To a locksmith, there are only three American automobiles, GM, Ford
and Chrysler (make that four) & AMC. The AMC uses the cheapest parts from
the big three with GM columns and I understand, Ford starters.
Chrysler uses Mopar parts with the exception of the tilt column
which is again GM. Ford is Ford and GM is Buick, Cad, Pontiac, Chevy, Vette
and a few others. All parts for GM are basically the same.
Briggs and Statton Corporation make ALL the locks and lock parts for
all American made cars.

You were mentioning your truck on the other board.
I picked up an '88 chevy blazer (after having an '85) only because they
came out with the larger engine. My '85 had transmission problems because
I towed a 1-ton load up to Flagstaff in the middle of summer and was in
quite a hurry a year back. My extended warranty took care of the replacement
and it cost me a total of $25.00
I don't know a whole heck of a lot about cars or engines etc. I do know that
the smaller the engine, the more problems you get no matter who is the
manufacturer. Some would swear by japanese 4-cylinders but I know better.
This 4.3 litre V-6 (vortec) is a real thrill in the S-10 compared to the
2.8l I had in the '85. Not many vehicles on the road can take the blazer
simply due to the torque and power / weight ratio.
For example; I out-accelerated a Datsun 300-Z (or is it Nissan now?)
at three separate traffic lights. The guy wasn't happy at all. He probably
had an automatic transmission like I do. Unfortunately they didn't have a
4 or 5-speed manual tranny for the S-10 with the new engine.
I have blown off trucks with V-8's with this little S-10. Not really a
racing vehicle though..but I still love to screech the tires when it changes
into 2nd gear. The best part about it is the new V-6 toyota's can't even
hold my bumper in 1st! (Friend down the corner bought one and I dragged
him for a 12-pack....hehehhehehe)
Nice to have a fast truck. I will stand by my chevy, no problem!

Disarm?
Think about it. If it could be accomplished in the few hours it takes
to see a sunrise, total unilateral disarmament would be great. With all
of the guns, knives, bombs, war planes, incendaries, projectiles
and miscellaneuous death dealing instrumentation the world would be indeed
a better place to live.
Pity that's just pie in the sky.
I'm a realist. I don't believe in treaties simply because History shows
that treaties last about as long as an orgasm.
If mankind were indeed a peace loving sort, we wouldn't have all this
assorted weaponry now would we ?
Education ? See RETARDATION under Webster's...then you'll get a good idea
of how world opinion is. Everyone wants to be left alone to do his or her
own thing. PROBLEM: Not enough space or natural resources. Someone,
somewhere, will get this NEAT idea to take something away from someone and
whammo, you have a genuine WAR. Now, in 1988 we have wonderful contraptions.
Compared with 1600 AD, we're wonderfully advanced at killing each other.
Long distance no less, reach out and fuck someone eh?
A genuine logical approach to our fascination of making death machines is
to look at history. All through history up until recently it was the
NUMBERS of men doing the fighting, not their I.Q. or reason. Now, after
several years of much the same ranting for unilateral peace, the people of
this world have created fantasticly complicated methodology and machinery
to do the task. (CONT)....

Chris,
While your truck will probably last another 100,000 miles (and it should
with the money/work you have put into it), when it comes to a day to day
work truck, I'll take a Ford anyday.
I've got an old 79 Ford 1/2 ton (beefed up to 3/4) that just keeps
'trucking' along. It's nothing for me to put 1,000-3,000 lb loads on it
daily (4-5 rolls of carpet) and make deliveries. It starts first time,
every time (and I need dependablity). I've seen a lot of carpet installers
go through 2-3 Chevy trucks in the time that I've had my Ford.
The only thing bad about it is since it was built as a 1/2 ton and I do
haul heavy loads, I have to replace the breaks every 20-30,000 miles. They
just didn't put heavy enough breaks in the 1/2 tons.
It ain't fancy (but not a bad looking cab and a half) and it don't have
all them there fancy gizmos that yours does, but I wouldn't be afraid to
jump into it this evening and drive to KC (or anywhere).

Cliff, your posts of late, and especially the ones addressed to me, have
demonstrated nothing better than what a mental midget you really are.
You have implanted a few basic lies about me in your little mind and they
keep turning over and over and are consuming you.
In your all-consuming hate you have totally ignored all the posts I have
left stating over and over all the points of the Dukakis campaign and the
Democratic platform with which I disagree, instead railing against me for
the opinions I have honestly expressed here concerning the ultra-rich liar
who now occupies the White House. I have been exercizing my right to freely
express my opinion, which I consider as valid as anyones', but your idol
worship of your god Ronnie has so clouded your vision (if you ever had any)
that my criticism is all you can see, and you would use your power as sysop
to deny me even that. So be it. I haven't seen anything worth reading on the
COSmos SIG in a long time anyway, but if you are going to remove me from
that one, at least be consistent and remove those who use offensive language
more than once from this one as well.
As long as you are going to go back over the posts of 4 years or so, you
will probably find even yourself excluded. At any rate, since conducting a
battle of wits with you is like fighting an opponent who is only half-armed,
I think I shall just let you rave on without the wasted energy of a further
reply from me.
Have a nice day.

Even children do not like him. (todays paper 10/12/88) FACT
I do not hate Democrats, just their PLATFORM! Paying attention Mr

Another question I have asked you several times... is if Reagan was
so bad, why did he win by such a large number od votes? Why is Bush going
to trounce the Democrate? Would you care to put a little cash on this if
you think otherwise and join Mr Hawley in the poor house?
What is your issue with the RICH? So what if they are in power...
If poor people would get in, there would be so much corruption and stealing
we would all go down the tubes. After all the rich are already rich and do
not need the money... like some Presidents take only $1.00 pay. I may not
agree with some Presidents, but when they are in power, they have the
respect of a proper name... Mr President or President Reagan, Carter, Ford
ETC.... only you get down to name calling...
And again, I did not like all what Reagan has done... he is not my
best President... Reread that line till it sinks in... then goto next
I do not like Bush, but his platform is much better than the others!
Re-READ that line till it sinks in.

Still Chomsky after all these years: The life of America's
leading dissident
In a suburban Boston home where piles of newspaper
clippings lie in low-tech confusion on the floor, one of the
world's leading political dissidents, Noam Chomsky, spends
his time piecing together an alternative perspective of
recent history. For almost two decades now, Chomsky has been
poring through mountains of newspaper articles in order to do
what a loyal audience expects him to do - outline the
patterns of U.S. military determination as it is relentlessly
exercised around the globe.
He explains that a chief export of the U.S. - whose
national territory has not been threatened since the War of
1812 - is terror. From Indonesia and Vietnam to Lebanon,
Grenada, El Salvador, Guatemala, and on, corporate America
has fashioned a foreign policy built on installing and
supporting undemocratic tyrants.
"I just don't like hypocrisy," Chomsky says, when asked of
his motivation. "If people are honest, they're concerned
about their own crimes. And if we're searching for
holocausts, we have created plenty of them."
In more than a dozen books on foreign policy, Chomsky lays
out evidence of U.S. complicity with brutal dictatorships
around the world. This political scholarship has been
undertaken outside of Chomsky's academic career as a
linguistics professor at MIT. All the time he has been
exposing American foreign policy, he has also kept a steady
stream of distinguished academic works rolling off the
presses - titles like *Cartesian Linguistics* and *Studies on
Semantics in Generative Grammer*.
While many mainstream foreign policy experts disagree with
Chomsky's concluions about America's role in the world, it's
difficult to miss the irony that all the evidence he offers
comes from the public record - speeches, documents,
autobiographies, and mountains of newspaper clippings.
"I get desperate every once in a while that if I haven't
written about a certain topic it's essentially going to
disappear, because the kind of information that is readily
available on a day-to-day basis is in fact gone from
history," he says.
"What remains in history is archives, the *New York Times*
index, a few other major sources. But they leave out or
misinterpret or downplay a huge amount of material, and
unless it's accumulated and organized and analyzed and the
important points brought out, it's essentially gone. You can
see that time after time."

Poor old boy is going through some self righteous indignation.
Paul, your unctuous finger pointing serves to show what you are really like.
We're all like that at times and those who can say that they do are above
the heap. Unfortunately all I have seen you post is this same broken
record style "I'm perfect" syndrome. At least Cliff has the guts to admit
certain indescretions. You on the other hand keep whitewashing your end
of it blaming him for what has transposed from debate to an apparent
all out shouting match.
Grow up old man.
-Mike

How could I misspell Bolw? It isn't even a word.
No, I haven't read the story, yet. I am busier than a one-legged
man in an ass kicking contest, as of late.
Do you know when the story started?
Rod
