Don Sanderson died last year, but the dealership that he owned still carries
his name, and they still have a lot of high priced equipment and a lot of

People always argue over Chevy's and Ford's,
The subject is quite lengthy and frankly, I'm board,
They argue over engines and the power of thier car,
But those who say a Chevy's best are just pushing things too far,
I'm not a brilliant person with an I.Q. that can't be beat,
But even I can tell you that FORDS RULE THE STREET,
Chevy's are nice to look at,
That I must admit,
But next to any Fords, thier all a piece of SHIT,
The Ford is a classic, a symbol of the times,

        Learn to read....  I said "The Democratic PLATFORM"... not all
Democrarts... Gads, the last thing in the world I would want is a one party
system!...  Cleen out your eyeballs...and re-read my post....  I know many
Democrats who do not like that part of the platform...  They are not Baby
killers, and I can respect that!  But they should let their party know,
hell, some of them were to BUSY or LAZY to even watch the conventions of
bout parties.  Unlike some...I listen to all 3 parties, and there are things
I will agree with and not agree with within each party.  Overall, I follow
the Republican platform, but not 100%

You better practice a little more introspection my friend, and take the log
out of your own eye so that you can see more clearly to help take the
splinter out of mine.
 Then you accuse me of supporting baby killers by referring to the baby
killing Democrats as "your party", m spite of all the posts I have left
denouncing those particular areas of the Democratic platform with which I
disagree.
Don't tell Daryl or anyone else to open their eyes until you've got yours
open!
As to my "hatefullness", you should know better, and I thnk you really do,

Of course, you are correct -- while the Democratic Party is the party of
homosexuals, abortion, and pro-communist foreign policy, most Democrats are
not homosexual, do not support abortion, and are not pro-communist (why do
you think so many of them voted for Reagan and will vote for Bush?).
However, your comparison with Klansmen and the Republican Party is
ludicrous.  The Republican Party does not support the Ku Klux Klan, and if
there were any indication of Klan influence in the party, you can bet it
would be quashed -- look what happened to Fred Malek.  The Democratic Party,
on the other hand, openly embraces homosexuals, abortionists, and radical
leftists, and makes no effort to distance itself even from communists and
Jesse Jackson-style anti-Semites.

I disagree with the Democratic Party's basic philosophy of paternalistic
government.  But the extent of appropriate government intervention is a
subject on which reasonable people can disagree.  The prospect of a
Democratic preident in the mold of a Lloyd Bentsen would not thrill me, but
it would not strike terror in me the way the idea of a Dukakis preidency
does.  Fortunately, I believe that until the Democratic Party purges itself
of the fringe left (or at least persuades the American people it has done
so), it will be unable to put one of its own into the White House.

  Nicaragua, a country under attack by the regional 
superpower, did on October 15, 1985, what we did in Hawaii
during World War II: instituted a state of siege.  There was
a huge uproar in the mainstream American press - editorials,
denunciations, claims that the Sandinistas are totalitarian
Stalinist monsters, and so on.
  Two days after that, on October 17, El Salvador renewed
its state of siege.  Instituted in March 1980 and renewed
monthly afterwords.  El Salvador's state of siege was far
more harsh than Nicaragua's.  It blocked freedom of 
expression, freedom of movement, and virtually all civil
rights.  It was the framework within which the U.S.-trained
and -organized army has carried out torture and slaughter.
  The *New York Times* considered the Nicaraguan state of 
siege a great atrocity.  The Salvadoran state of siege, far
harsher in its measures and its application, was never
mentioned in 160 *New York Times* editorials on Nicaragua
and El Salvador, up until now (mid-1986, the time of this
interview).
  We are often told the country is a budding democracy, so
it can't possibly be having a state of siege.  According to
news reports on El Salvador, Duarte is heading a moderate
centrist government under attack by terrorists of the left
and of the right.  This is complete nonsense.  Every human
rights investigation, even the U.S. government in private,
concedes that terrorism is being carried out by the
Salvadoran government itself.  The death squads are the 
security forces.  Duarte is simply a front for terrorists.
But that is seldom said publicly.
  All of this falls under Walter Lippman's notion of "the
manufacture of consent."  Democracy permits the voice of the
people to be heard, and it is the task of the intellectual to
ensure that this voice endorses what leaders perceive to be
the right course.  Propaganda is to democracy what violence
is to totalitarianism.  The techniques have been honed to a
high art in the U.S. and elsewhere, far beyond anything that
Orwell dreamed of.  The device of feigned dissent (as
practiced by the Vietnam-era "doves," who criticized the war
on the grounds of effectiveness and not principle) is one of
the more subtle means, though simple lying and suppressing
fact and other crude techniques are also highly effective.
  For those who stubbornly seek freedom around the world, 
there can be no more urgent task than to come to understand
the mechanisms and practices of indoctrination.  These are
easy to perceive in the totalitarian societies, much less so
in the propaganda system to which we are subjected and in
which all too often we serve as willing or unwitting 
instruments.

I noticed that the words "ass" in my post was spelled "a$$" then later
changed back to "ass".  Why?

A note about the Arizona Republic.  I seriously doubt they'd print any
questionable words.  When the Butthole Surfers were in concert, they
referred to them only as the "BF Surfers".

Though it be difficult, we will just have to take Sysop Cliff ass is.
