I have a PE record player that is about 12 years old.... It has all the

that it is old the needle that rides on the album is so 'saggy' that it
alows the whole needle assembly to hit the album...OFTEN!.... What I need
to know is where do I get the little plastic piece that has the needle in it
that slides diagonally up into the part that has all the wires plugged into
the back of it.... I just pulled it out to fix it about an hour ago, so
all the stores are closed by now... Is this a common part or am I going to
have trouble finding it???

I hate the death penality and I hate abortion, but they are two different
issues. I have already, no too long ago stated my thoughts on abortion and
do not want to start that up again. It is not a subject that seems to be
discussed rationally.
Re: the death penality - Cliff - what you said does not have to be. I do not
believe that a person that commits murder of the first degree ought to sit
in prison and watch color TV and play pool! He/she ought to spend their
entire life mostly in solitude and work - with no hope of parole! The joke
we have for a law and the death penalty needs to be changed. Just a small
handful of murderers go to their deaths and the tax payers are keeping the
rest. So what good does it do to have the death penalty if that's the way
it's going to be? Also - this nonsense about cop killers and drug related
killings getting the death penalty is stupid. Why is one murder worse than
another?
But the bottom line - I don't believe that we, as a state or nation have a
right to put anyone to death! I don't believe that the person that pulls the
switch - or drops the pellets - or gives the injection should be put in that
position because it's their job! Yes - the murders have to be taken out of
society - but they do not have to be put to death. I feel no one has a right
to do it - judge on another's life. It puts them in the same category as the
murderer! =*--ANN--*=

If the Death Penalty was used MORE than it is today, I bet there
would be less major crime. I do not see how getting sent to prison is such
a big deterrent.
        Example:
I am a small time criminal... I hold up a person at gun-point and
take all his money. Now, if I let him go he MAY be able to identify me. By
letting him go I am MORE likely going to be apprehended, but at least I
won't be put to death.

        Now in Ann's law:
I am a small time criminal... I hold up a person at gun-point and
take all his money. Now, if I let him go he MAY be able to identify me. So,
I blow the sucker away, because I am less likely to be caught and identified
and if I am, I will not be put to death...thanks to the bleeding heart
Liberals!

End result...since I hold up a person once a week for drug money, I
will have killed many people before I am caught... and now that I am caught,
so what... kill one or twenty... I will be alive and taken care of, free
medical etc....

Regarding the election: As I said before, we are choosing a leader, not a
sex object. That you are disillusioned with the candidates because they
fail to "excite" you testifies only to your own vapidity. My only
complaint about the candidates is that both their campaigns seem to operate
under the premise that the American people are stupid and respond to
simplistic formulations rather than consistent principles. They are trying
to appeal to the lowest common denominator, and they cannot even do that,
for you, Ann, are the lowest common denominator and even you are
unimpressed.

Regarding the death penalty and abortion: Your stand on the death penalty
is overly simplistic at best. Surely you cannot claim that putting someone
to death as punishment for a crime of which he is convicted with due process
of law is the equivalent of summarily and brutally murdering an innocent
person. If this were the case, imprisoning a convicted criminal would be
the equivalent of kidnapping, yet you seem to approve of prison terms for
criminals and (I would hope) disapprove of kidnapping.

Your view on the death penalty also is inconsistent with your support for
abortion. If no one has a right to "judge on [sic] another's life," then
surely a woman does not have the right to kill her unborn child, unless it
can be established conclusively that that child is not yet a person (and it
assuredly has not been so demonstrated.)

Secret documents reveal danger of nuclear accidents

Last March 11, NBC broadcast a documentary called
"Nuclear Power: In France It Works," which could have passed
for a lengthy nuclear power commercial. Missing from
anchorman Tom Brokaw's introduction was the fact that NBC's
owner, General Electric, is America's second largest
nuclear power company and third largest producer of nuclear
weapons systems.
One month after the documentary, accidents occurred at two
French nuclear installations, injuring seven workers. *The
Christian Science Monitor* wrote of a "potentially explosive
debate" in France, with new polls showing a third of the
French public opposing nuclear power. That story was not
reported on NBC news. The NBC policy that produced the
pro-nuclear power documentary while censoring the news about
two nuclear accidents is typical of the international
silence about nuclear incidents, which bolsters the
industry's undeserved reputation for safety.
Nuclear safety did come under fire last year, however,
when the mainstream West German weekly *Der Spiegel*
published 48 of the more than 250 secret nuclear reactor
accident reports compiled by the International Atomic Energy
Agency. These previously secret documents were published in
English for the first time in *Earth Island Journal*.
Some of the underreported incidents: February 1983 -
Bulgaria's Kozluduj nuclear power plant lost pressure in the
primary cooling system; June 1983 - three of four pumps fail
in Argentina's Embalse nuclear plant; August 1984 - the
primary cooling system in West Germany's Bruno Leuschner
plant in Greifswald burst; January 1985 - at Pakistan's
Kanupp reactor, radioactive heavy water leaks while being
transferred through a rubber hose; April 1985 - radioactive
water and sludge swamp two rooms of an auxiliary building at
Belgium's Tihange reactor.
In several of these previously unreported nuclear slipups,
"a meltdown was a real possibility," noted *Der Spiegel*.
A survey of official records since the Three Mile Island
reactor meltdown in 1979 shows there have been more than
23,000 mishaps at U.S. reactors - and the number is
increasing. In 1986, there were more than 3,000 reported
incidents - up 24 percent since 1984. *Der Spiegel*'s
chilling conclusion: "Humanity has been sitting on a
powderkeg as a result of reliance on the 'peaceful' use of
the atom."

It's been nearly 10 years since the TMI incident (which was not, in the
technical sense of the term, a "meltdown"), and there have still been no
reports of any excess cancer deaths in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Which
leads me to believe that the statistics don't show any (because if they did,
you can bet the media would be creating a stir over it).

This is aimed at JT mostly but if anyone else knows anything about it, have
at it!

Are there any statistics on record concerning the ratio of murders during
the period when the death penalty was in effect compared to today's
murder/ratio?

Of course population and all that would have to be taken into consideration,
but I think it would be an extremely interesting report, much like the
statistics concerning highway deaths at 65mph vs 55mph.

I think the death penalty WOULD be a great deterrent except the courts, no
doubt, would come up with less guilty verdicts than they do today (if that
is possible.)

Since when is it being a 'Bleeding Heart Liberal' to want to put some one
away in prison for life with out parole? That doesn't sound like a 'nice'
way to spend one's life! Besides, as I pointed out - we have the death
penality now and it's hardly enforced.. Whats the point of having it then?
We are at the point of being more cruel than the murderers letting people
have trial after trial - waiting for years in prison and then putting them
to death. All this cost more than keeping him in prison for life. The death
penality never deterred anyone - ESPECIALLY drug users! I also fault your
examples because I don't believe even the hardest core criminals will just
murder for nothing. A few, yes, but hardly all.
If we are going to have the death penality - then lets do it no more than a
month after said person was found guilty and lets use the injection method
and not the electric chair, gas chamber or hanging. These methods must have
been designed by satan himself. I would still not agree with it - but it
beats the heck out of what we have now. =*--ANN--*=

This whole abortion thing is ridiculious! Bush says he won't punish the

Where does she go then? She would have choices of finding a person that
would do it in some sleezy joint, both looking over their shoulder for the
law - or she could go to Mexico to some sleezy joint - or could do it
herself and risk killing herself! If she's poor, then forget the above
because she'll just have to have it and it will probably be thrown in a
dumpster after it is born or be raised as an unwanted child, probably with
several unwanted brothers and sisters.
You seem to not be able to understand that women have been doing this for
centuries and will continue to do so. That fact cannot be denied! I think
this is up to the women and not the men for one thing. A man could never
understand having to go through a pregnancy they don't want. =*--ANN--*=

On the election: Sure, it is difficult to imagine things being appreciably
better under either Dukakis or Bush than they are now. Of course, things
are quite good now, and it is difficult to imagine that any candidate for
President could be much better than Reagan. However, under a Bush
administration things would certainly not get much worse on the whole,
whereas under a Dukakis administration this country would come close to
collapse. So it is hardly legitimate to act as if both candidates are just
awful, merely because neither is as good as what we have now.

On abortion: I agree, Bush's stand on the subject is flawed. Certainly
there should be criminal penalties for women who have abortions; one might
argue that a women who procures an abortion is not actually carrying out the
killing herself and thus is not guilty of homicide, but she is at least
guilty of conspiracy. Bush's stand makes political sense, but it makes no
intellectual sense. On the other hand, it would be a step in the right
direction. As for your other arguments, they make even less sense than
Bush's position. Women have been having abortions for centuries -- so what?
Men have been raping women for centuries as well, but that is no argument
for legalizing rape. Women might procure illegal abortions -- so what?
It is illegal to hire a hit man to kill your enemies, yet people do it, but
that is no argument for legalizing murder-for-hire. By far the silliest
argument, though, is that only women are qualified to hold an opinion on the
subject, because men cannot understand what it's like to be pregnant. If
this is true, then only men can have an opinion about rape, because only
men can understand what it's like to rape a woman. This is not to discount
the fact that women who have been pregnant have an insight into the subject
that men and women who have never been pregnant lack. But I base my opinion
on abortion in large part on the fact that mothers (including my own) have
told me that when they are pregnant, they feel they do indeed have a
separate person inside their bodies.

You still have not reconciled your pro-abortion stance with your statement
that no one has a right to "judge on [sic] another's life."

The government's mania for secrecy
President Ronald Reagan nicknamed 1987 "The Year of the
Reader," but throughout 1987 the Reagan administration
outdid itself in its efforts to control, interpret,
manipulate, disinform, and censor all forms of information.
Typical of the Reagan administration's efforts to control
its own destiny and the nation's history was the Justice
Department memorandum that could enable Reagan to control
the history of his involvement in the Iran-contra scandal.
The administration is seeking to overturn a 1986 federal
court ruling that limited Nixon's right to block the release
of his White House papers. The Justice Department
memorandum, filed in a lawsuit, would allow Nixon to
withdraw any documentation he thought should be suppressed.
In effect, this would put Nixon in control of U.S. history
between 1968 and 1974. If Nixon wins, it will pave the way
for Reagan to determine official U.S. history from 1980 to
1988.
While alarming, this is only one small example of Reagan's
mania for secrecy. Following are the reports of three groups
that tried to warn us about what was happening.
- *People for the American Way*. This group's report
provided more than 100 pages of well-documented charges
concerning the growing trend toward secrecy in government
and its threat to American democracy. It "tells the story
of the institutionalization of secrecy throughout the
federal government ... the story of unprecedented controls
on information, not only on defense and foreign policy
issues where legitimate secrets do need to be protected, but
on a host of topics vital to our daily lives, from toxic
wastes to occupational hazards, from new technology to the
health of our children."
- *The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press*. This
group issued an alert about how the Reagan administration
and its supporters restrict public access to government
information. The 50-page report lists 135 specific actions
that have occurred since 1981, including threatened
prosecution of the press for publishing classified
information; expulsion of foreign journalists; proposed
amendments to weaken the Freedom of Information Act; and the
use of lie detectors.
- *The American Library Association*. The latest edition of
the association's annual report on censorship provides a
damning indictment of Reagan administration efforts to
"restrict and privatize government information" such as
public documents and statistics. The 1987 report adds 78
items to the case for Reagan's secrecy mania.

Why is abortion legal? You could be right about this country going down hill

"I don't believe a fetus is a human until it's born and has a chance to stay

not be aborted at a stage where it can live at all or has a chance of

After eight years of having the hybrid Grandpa/Newscaster telling us
everything is o.k., even when it wasn't - the question is "to whom can we
turn for our security now?"
Ann complained that both candidates are boring, neither has vision.
Does America want vision? I don't think a Bruce Babbitt, or a Pete DuPont,
two men with very concrete ideas of what America needs, could be elected.
America is scared. America doesn't want to take chances. Why else did the
two blandest, least outspoken, most palatable candidates emerge as the
"winners"?
How long can this streak of good luck continue? While economically I
think we're better off, its already apparent we are slipping in social
matters. The laughable "war" on drugs (lipservice to drugs would be a
better term), and growing number of homeless are examples. And there aren't
any easy answers - more money in either case isn't going to make the problem
go away. Both candidates seem to have easy answers - it plays better on TV,
I guess - but when it all hits the fan, I don't exactly feel safe having
either candidate there to pick up the pieces.
It's too bad we seem to be a "quick fix" nation these days. And maybe
our shallow candidates are a symptom of this, I don't know. But, when they
would rather debate each others' war record and/or membership in various
organizations, rather than what is good for America.... Something is wrong.
I really wonder if I'll be better off in four years... especially if there
is a major political/social/economic crisis in the interim - what with the
way both candidates are already sidestepping minor personal & political
flareups, I'd hate to think of the damage to be done (by nothing being done)
if something major does come along....
The only good thing I see coming out of this election, regardless of
who wins, is maybe... just MAYBE Americans will get fed up enough to demand
some major changes, maybe the people will demand some action be taken - or
else they'll take action themselves.... Otherwise, I only see things getting
worse in the next four years, and beyond.

Your argument is based on the faulty premise that the existence of a single
person in poverty implies that the society is not prosperous. Obviously,
this is not true: the bum you saw was an aberrtion from general trends (as
is clear if you study the economic statistics), and was probably "down and

Your position on abortion is still incoherent. A newborn infant is hardly
autonomous; he needs constant attention and cannot possibly live on his own
for several years. Yet he is not any less human than you or I, and we
recognize that it is wrong to kill him -- and included in this is an
affirmative obligation on the part of the parent or other adult who has
assumed reponsbility for him to provide for his basic needs. There is no
distinction that I can see between an unborn baby and a newborn one in this
respect.

My argument about rape apparently went over your head, so let me walk you
through it. You argued that men are not qualified to make moral judgments
about abortion because they can never be in a position to have an abortion.
One can only reach this conclusion if one accepts the axiom that
no one is qualified to make moral judgments about actions that he can never
be in a position to perform. But a woman can never be in a position to
commit rape, so if this axiom holds true, a woman is incapable of making
moral judgments about rape.

Your statement that if abortion is outlawed, "half the women" will be
criminals is absurd. Far fewer than 50 percent of women have abortions now,
and if it were outlawed, most women would be deterred from doing so: they
would either raise their children, put them up for adoption, or avoid
pregnancy in the first place.

Biowarfare research conducted at U.S. universities

Overshadowed by Star Wars, the push toward developing
ghastly instruments of biological warfare has been one of
the Reagan administration's best-kept secrets. The research
budget for infectious diseases and toxins has increased
tenfold since fiscal 1981, and most of the 1986 budget of
$42 million went to 24 U.S. universities where the world's
most deadly organisms are being cultivated in campus labs.
The large sums of military money available for
biotechnology research is a powerful attraction for
scientists whose civilian funding resources have dried up.
Scientists who formerly researched diseases like cancer now
use their talents to develop strains of such rare pathogens
as anthrax, Rift Valley fever, Japanese encephalitis,
tularemia, shigella, botulin, and Q fever.
Many members of the academic community find the trend
alarming. However, when MIT's biology department voted to
refuse Pentagon funds for biotech research, the
administration forced it to reverse its decision by
threatening to cut off other funds. In 1987, when the
University of Washington hired retired Army Col. Philip
Sobocinsky to help professors attract Pentagon-funded
biowarfare research, a UW science writer was fired after
disclosing the details in the student newspaper.
Since the U.S. signed the 1972 Biological and Toxic
Weapons Convention, which bans "development, production,
stockpiling, and use of microbes or their poisonous products
except in amounts necessary for productive and peaceful
research," the university-based projects are called defense
efforts aimed at developing vaccines and protective gear.
Scientists who oppose the program insist that a germ-warfare
defense is clearly impractical; the entire population would
have to be vaccinated for every known harmful biological
agent. The only feasible application of a "defensive"
development is in conjunction with offensive use: Troops
could be effectively vaccinated for a single agent prior to
launching an attack with it.
Another issue receiving even less attention is the safety
or the security of the labs involved. Release of pathogens,
either by accident or design, would prove tragic.
Twenty-three U.S. schools, including the Universities of
California, Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota,
and Utah, are currently engaged in biowarfare research.

real need of a way to feed their family, and can't do it on the "good jobs"
the REagan years have produced, minimum wage jobs, or part-time jobs that
are barely enough to keep people from qualifying for unemployment, but not
nearly enough to scrape by on. You can quote all the figures you want to,
and all they prove is how figures, polls and statistics can be twisted and
slanted to say anything the writer of them wants them to say.
Finally, how many saw the shuttle launch yesterday? I did, and it was a
real thrill. NASA has a satellite channel of their own, and I watched it a
good part of the morning, seeing the launch from every conceivable angle,
from cameras that were so close they got dirt on their lens from the
blastoff to the distant shots that were shown on network TV. It's good to
see America back in the space business again, no matter who's in office.

If your view is that abortions after the sixth week of pregnancy should be
prohibited, you are much closer to the pro-life than the pro-choice view.
Under Roe v. Wade, states are prohibited from enacting any restrictions on
abortion whatsoever during the first three months of pregnancy, and may
restrict abortions in the second trimester only for the sake of the mother's
safety. Only during the final three months of pregnancy are the states
allowed to take into account the well-being of the unborn baby. Dukakis and
most liberals want to preserve Roe v. Wade, and view disagreement with it as
dissent from the Constitution.

Bush's oily role in Iran arms deal

Vice President George Bush's acknowledged support for the
secret arms shipments to Iran has been interpreted as
evidence of his loyalty to President Reagan's policies.
However, other evidence suggests that Bush - far more than
Reagan - promoted the Iran initiative, took part in key
negotiations, and conferred upon Oliver North the powers
necessary to carry it out.
Peter Dale Scott, co-author of *The Iran-Contra Connection*
and former senior fellow at the International Center for
Development Policy in Washington, suggests that Bush's
primary concern in early 1986 was to stabilize falling crude
oil prices by promoting a common price policy between the
United States and the oil producers of the Persian Gulf,
especially Iran and Saudi Arabia. Scott adds that
maintaining higher oil prices was an explicit goal of some
of Oliver North's secret arms negotiations with the Iranians.
The price of oil reflected the concerns of Bush, a former
Texas oilman, rather than those of Reagan, a free market
advocate.
Scott traces Bush's involvement back to the January 17,
1986, meeting of the president's national security advisors
at which the president signed the controversial finding
authorizing the arms sales. The meeting was attended only
by Bush and three other known supporters of the arms sales
initiative - Chief of Staff Donald Regan, National Security
Advisor John Poindexter, and Poindexter's deputy Donald
Fortier.
As the *Iran-Contra Select Committee Report* points out,
Secretary of State George Schultz and Secretary of Defense
Casper Weinberger were deliberately kept in the dark about
the trip North took with Robert McFarlane to Tehran three
months later. Bush not only knew of the trip, he helped
schedule it.
Bush took a trip of his own to Saudi Arabia where he
lobbied Saudi leaders to help stabilize oil prices, then
rapidly falling to less than $10 a barrel. His trip was
successful; Saudi Arabia's King Fahd received the Iranian
petroleum minister in the fall of 1986 and the two countries
agreed to push for OPEC arrangements for boosting oil prices
to $18 a barrel. That price brought economic relief to
oil-producing states like Texas, which were key to Bush's
political base.

Somehow in all of this we seem to be missing something. Paul, ever since
I came back to this country I've started to see more and more people
whine, moan, bitch and generally wretch senselessly about what other
people are or are not doing. Everyone's got their nose stuck into the other
guys work to see if he's doing it the way he's supposed to. If the country
could collectively take one step back and get the nose out of the mud
and start going about WORKING at MAKING a living instead of saying
it's so-and-so's fault I strongly believe we'd all be better off.
I came here with no money with parents just as broke. I didn't go on welfare
or go out begging for a hand-out. In fact, I worked for FREE just to get
in the door! I didn't have much else than a defunct Aussie pilot's
license , a high school certificate and my future. I didn't give a holy
cat's $#!+ who was or wasn't in power at the time. I made it out of
the mud by directing my attention to WORKING . Administration or
no Administration.
My point;
Regardless of who is El Presidente, the Meta-Chingone (sp?) or El Hefe
of this country, it is the INDIVIDUALS *** RESPONSIBILITY *** to look
and care after themselves. If families would look after their own, people
pay attention to THEIR work we wouldn't have a fraction of the homeless,
the out of work or the druggies we have now. We have them because people
who think like you believe it's the GOVERNMENTS RESPONSIBILITY to look
after them with handouts, free medical, free jobs and a free lunch.

It was excellent! If everybody felt like that, the nation wouldn't be in the
spot it's in now. I think this welfare thing started when Roosevelt was in
office - it helped then and was needed - but it has gotten so far out of
hand, it doesn't resemble what the purpose of it was for.
My husband, being a contractor runs in to so many men that swear they will
work for any wage - even food. He has in the past, picked up men on the
street with signs stating "Will work for anything"! etc. etc. 99% of them
just want some quick cash to tide them over until they can get their welfare
checks or unemployment. OR they will not stay around very long after they
find out how hard of work it is. The norm - they work for a week, get their
checks and he never sees them again! These guys don't want to work period.
Most of them get fired before the week is up because they just sit around on
the job. They CAN make more off of welfare than what my husband pays a
laborer. ($5 per hour - and he pays the taxes!) They never stick around long
enough to learn the business and get a raise. =*--ANN--*=

Biased coverage of the Arias peace plan

On August 7, 1987, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Honduras, and Nicaragua signed a regional peace proposal
authored by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias. The Arias
Plan set specific guidelines and target dates for ceasefires
and demilitarization for each nation in order to stabilize
Central America.
Two separate studies monitoring U.S. press coverage of the
plan revealed a startling bias in how America's leading
newspapers covered the region following the proposal's
signing. The New York-based Fairness and Accuracy in
Reporting (FAIR) concluded that the peace accord set off a
U.S. media reaction that "showed once again the extent to
which White House assumptions are shared by the national
press corps" and how "Reagan's obsession with Nicaragua has
turned into a media obsession." FAIR's 90-day analysis of
the *New York Times* found that the newspaper devoted three
times a many column inches to Nicaragua as it did to
Honduras, Guatamala, and El Salvador combined.
The other study, by the San Francisco-based Media Alliance,
monitored stories about the peace plan that appeared in
seven major dailies - the *New York Times*, *L.A. Times*,
*Christian Science Monitor*, *San Jose Mercury News*,

*San Francisco Chronicle*, *San Francisco Examiner*, and the
*Oakland Tribune*. They too concluded that most newspapers
followed the Reagan administration's direction as to what
deserved coverage in Central America. The alliance analyzed
406 articles and editorials. Here are some of their
findings:
- While the seven newspapers published numerous articles
critical of the Sandinistas and their efforts to comply with
the plan, serious human rights violations by the governments
of El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatamala went largely
unreported.
- Sources quoted for comments and analysis were almost
always administration officials, contra leaders, or
representatives of other conservative organizations that
advocate military solutions to the region's political
conflicts.
- The newspaper editors, when contacted by the *San
Francisco Bay Guardian*, generally acknowledged that the
national press has allowed the Reagan administration to set
the tone for Central American news coverage.

executing the plan immediately was that she did not own a credit card. Who,
she thinks to herself, will trust her enough to lend her their credit card?
Cliff interupted his wonderful wife. He advised her of the funeral
they must attened in a few hours. Sandy tried to sleep but could not, she
was ready to try her theory out .......

Finally, Sandy went to sleep, but Cliff lay there for hours looking at the
ceiling. He was so afraid for his Sandy and her theory of the credit card
and was wondering if he had gotten her out of Dullhead too soon? No doubt
she was ready for a nervous brake down. He hadn't questioned her at the
time, but wondered how she expected to kill a man already dead - with a
credit card? Did she plan on throwing it in the grave with him, hoping he'd
melt like the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz? Or did she plan to stuff it
in his mouth and hope to choke him to death?
"I must get her away from this city befores she cracks" he thought.
"Besides, now that I'm out of a job, I can't afford to put her back in
Dullhead for any length of time!
It was dawn before sleep finally claimed Cliff and when it did, he had awful
nightmares of gore, blood and the walking dead!

Rod Williams had been walking for hours. He was totally despondent over
the horrible death of his buddy Nick and he was trying to shake some of
the gloom off by walking. It was doing no good. He didn't even notice
that several young women had 'given him the eye' as they passed by. His
handsome good looks and the intelligence that showed through, always
commanded attention where ever he went! Coupled with the fact that he
was also wearing his second favorite T-shirt that had, in bold letters
written on the front that said "BABY ON BOARD". He had gotten it from
Jasmine, his dear wife and companion of all these many years. She felt
it belonged on him more than her because it was he that kept on making
the babies - not her!
Rod sighed and continued walking. After a while, he saw a Circle K
looming up in the distance and decided he was thirsty and wanted a
Coke, so he made his way towards it. Just before he opened the door, he
happened to glance at a poster hung in the window and his heart stopped
in his chest when he realized what it said. It read .......

He could not believe his eyes! His heart felt frozen in his chest.
"My God! Now the sweet, lovely, pure and sinless Ann is dead too! What
is life on Apollo going to be without her? The rest were bad enough,
especially Nick, but Ann? Why Ann? She hadn't done a thing to anybody".
Rod thought about the year before last on Apollo - how cruel David had
been to her - calling her names like 'silly' and 'idiotic'! Him and
James had their fun with her building up their egos at her expense!
But it had been no big thing - not big enough for him to do this to
her. "There's got to be another motive here! David wouldn't do this
thing over something like that -- or would he?"

While Rod thought on these things, another Apollo member sat in front
of his computer on the other side of town. It was .......

Phoenix area police profess to be puzzled by a strange string of
incidents which have allegedly occurred in the Valley of the Sun during
the past few days. Reliable sources confirm that a cadaver is indeed
missing from Tempe's scenic Double Buttes Cemetery. The missing
remains are said to be those of a David Burkhart, a member of an
obscure Phoenix sect known as the Apolloites.

Authorities deny that there is any connection between the dis-
appearance of the Burkhart corpse and a string of grisly murders
aparently connected to the Apollo cult. No motive has yet been
established in the case of Ms. Sandy Sysop, who was apprehended
near the exhumed grave last night, a smoking 357 magnum handgun
clutched in her hand. Staff psychologists at a nearby mental
institution could not be reached to confirm her story that she
had fired 23 shots from her pistol at an apparition described
as "foul beyond all belief." Mrs. Sysop has been described by
friends as mildly deranged but not dangerous. A friend of the
family who asked to remain anonymous commented that she had
"ample reason to be deranged, what with a husband like hers!"

In an unrelated incident, authorities were interviewing an elderly
male found wandering in the Metrocenter area last night. Police say
that the suspect, identified as a Mr. Ralph Blehm, appeared incoherent
as he attempted to describe the events that caused him to have been
arrested for walking past the same point on Metro Parkway three times
within two hours.
Blehm claimed to have been dragged into a late model Corvette by
an unidentified woman, who then forced him to yield his Visa chard
card, or lose the gunny sack of aluminum cans and old condoms that he
had painstakingly collected along the roadside. He claims that he did
not get a good look at the woman, who then removed his trousers and
pulled them over his head before dumping him out of the car and
speeding off into the night.
      ***************** News Flash! ******************
Glendale police have cordoned off the area between 47th Avenue and
55th Avenue on Northern. Eyewitnesses at the scene are describing a
bizarre and macabre incident that defies rational belief. Mr. Gary
Jones, a witness interviewed just a few minutes, ago said that he saw a
deranged, light-haired woman driving a rental steam roller veer
suddenly up onto the curb and flatten a pedestrian. Police are unable
to confirm Mr. Jones's statement, because although they have the
deranged driver of the steam roller in custody, the foul smelling
substance on the sidewalk and adhering to the roller of the rental
machine do not appear to be pieces of human being.

A Glendale paramedic commented that the substance smelled more
like dog manure than anything else he had ever encountered. Mr.
Jones reportededly is sticking to his story, that the figure that was
flattened into unrecognizable goo was actually a pedestrian. There
is speculation that the unidentified object may be the missing body
from a local cemetery.

In further developments, Police have not yet identified the
strange woman apprehended driving the steam roller. Her only
identification was a charge card bearing the name Ralph
Blehm. Mr. Blehm was not immediately available for comment.
Also, Phoenix Police have impounded a Chevrolet Corvette
found in the parking lot of a mid-town heavy equipment rental
agency. They profess to be puzzled by an immense, bright red
phallic symbol found tied to the rear deck of the vehicle.

Stay tuned to this station for further developments.

Ann, the still unkown crazy woman, was put in with the other
mistakenly deranged woman, Sandy Sysop. The music rang soft and melodious
through their padded cell. The evening news caused Ann to smile. She gazed
over to Sandy's direction and commented on the foul smelling jelly like
substance being scraped off the steam roller.
"That's what's left of JT," snickers Ann. "I wanted so to get even
with him." Sandy listens in astonishment wondering at the same time if Ann
feels a need to get even with her. "I dug him up. That smelly, rotten, worm
infested corpse! I dug him up, I did." Ann cocks her head to one side. "His
head was hard to keep together you know." She stops long enough to scoot
herself closer to Sandy. "Wanna know somethin', Sandy? ........ JT don't got
no heart. I saw for myself. I dug into his chest --- it's easy to dig into
a rotten corpses' chest -- an' there was nothin' there. Not a thing!"
Sandy closed her eyes and tilts her head back against the wall
wondering why she had to come back to this Hell Hole. "Why, of all people,
did I have to get stuck with her?" she mumbles to herself. "I just know my
credit card idea will work." She looks towards the door. "Why won't someone
let me out?"

Rod realizes who that lady was on the news. If Ann only knew, if
only she knew her fate. No way was Rod going to rescue Ann, the phallic
worshiper. He stood much to gain by keeping his mouth shut than if he went
to the police. A $10,000.00 dollar reward for keeping his mouth shut was
what it took to buy him off. Rod muses over how to spend his ten thou.
"A new computer for sure," he thinks to himself. "Can't type very well with
all that dry blood and tissue in between the keys."
Meanwhile, back at the Nut House, Sandy is planning her escape.
Knowing Ann's facination with the male anatomy she puts her plan into
action. She whispers something into Ann's ear, then sits next to the door
and waits.........

... until the gaurd does his rounds. She didn't have to wait long. Both her
and Ann could hear him opening the large cell door and was making his way
down the aisles. Ann quickly took all her clothes off and pressed herself
against the bars.
The guard turned the cornor and his eyes almost bugged out when he caught a
glimps of Ann.
"Hey baby! Wanna have a little fun"? Ann says to him seductively.
The guard walks up close to the bars. He starts to drool.
HE didn't notice that Sandy had taken Ann's belt and had it hidden behind
her. At the point where he had forgotten everything but Ann's loveliness,
Sandy wrapped the belt around his neck and pulled. It only took a few
seconds and he was passed out on the floor. Ann reaches down and grabs his
keys and opens the cell. Both of them started running out of the jail.
Fortunately, it was late and very few cops were on duty at that time, so
they were not seen and made an easy get-a-way! They paused in a dark alley
to catch their breath.
"Boyee, is it cold" Ann said shivering.
"No wonder" said Sandy, "you don't have any clothes on! Here, put these on.
I grabbed your clothes before we left!"
"Jeeze, thanks Sandy. I completely forgot!"
Ann quickly slipped into her clothes.
In the meantime, not too far from the jail .....

.. sat cute 'fart' Ralph, looking at the Cardinal game on TV! He was trying
to calm himself after that nasty steamroller incident. The game had done the
trick and he was caught up in the action.
Suddenly, he smelt something awful and sat up with a jerk, looking around
the room. "Man, it smells like something died in here!"
From the far cornor of the room, lost in darkness, stepped a hugh, hulking
figure that reeked of the grave.
Ralph sat down again - deadly fear running through his vains. He could not
move.
The dead thing came over to where poor Ralph was sitting and said in a
gruesome voice "You are right Ralphy Baby. Something is dead in here!"
Ralph was almost fainting from terror.
The dead thing continued. "So you were wondering about JT's brain were you?
Well I have it right here. It's yours!"
Before Ralph could move an inch, the hulking figure took the brain and
shoved it down Ralph's throat. It was only a matter of seconds before he was
dead! His last thoughts were - "It's sure ironic that I'm going to spend
eternity with JT after all!" and then nothing but blackness!
The dead thing gave out his gruesome laugh and left into the night!

Unaware of the evenings events Sandy makes her way home. "Ann sure

with looking for Cliff. Not in the computer room, not in the garage, not in

She was half asleep when she heard Cliff come in. He went directly to the
bathroom and she heard the shower start.
"What in heck is he taking a shower for now"? she pondered. "He took one
this morning and hasn't done anything to get dirty!"
Sandy went over to the bathroom door and knocked lightly. "You OK Cliffy
dear?"
From under the shower Cliff mumbled "Yeah, I'm OK. I'll just be a few
minutes honey."
"Why are you showering this time of night?"
"Hm, ah --- I had a little accident while taking a walk!"
"What kind of accident?"
"Well - I was walking along 19th avenue where they are repairing the road
and fell into a rain filled hole and got all muddy. My clothes are a mess,
but I'm otherwise alright. Go on back to sleep baby!"
"But what's that awful smell Cliff?"
"The water was quite stagnate is all. I had to throw away my clothes.
Please! Enough explaining for tonight. Go on back to bed!"
Sandy reluctantly went back to bed, but couldn't sleep thinking "something
is terriably wrong here! What was Cliff doing taking a walk anyway at this
time of night? Why would he throw away good clothes knowing they can be
cleaned?"
Sandy started to shiver because she had became quite afraid - quite afraid
of the answer!
