I thought of it while driving to Tucson a couple of days after I suggested
the contest. I had been going to write some kind of detective story or
something, but then I thought of this and all the neat underlying themes
that could be worked into it.

Interesting concept, but I believe that like many other such groups, their
behavior is less than effective. As you said, religion interferes with their
judgement, and the frivolous recording of liens by their "government" is
clearly just petty harassment. I can support an effort to reject the system,
but by filing liens and such, they are using the system they reject. Makes
no sense to me.

I've just down loaded all the stories to print out and re-read, but from
what I've seen so far, there is *one* story that is almost professional.
The others are pretty good. (My God, do we have some vivid imaginations on
this board!)
Question - Who gets to vote? Entrants? Status users? can non status users
downline load the stories to read?
Question - What's the grand prize? A weekend in Ajo?

In answer to your ----- ask Sandie what movies she likes ........
Raphie lent Cliff and I two XXX rated movies. We saw one of them and I have
to say that Debbie DID NOT Do Dallas.
Never saw a movie like that before. Never knew a movie really could be made
without a plot.
All it was was a continuous series of sexual encounters that one person has
interpreted as 'turn ons' for the man.

The great and venerable Sufi sage, Mullah Nasrudin, once raced through
Bagdad on his donkey, galloping as fast as the poor beast could travel.
Everybody got excited and people rushed into the streets to find out why the
philosopher was in such a great hurry.
"What are you looking for, Mullah?" somebody shouted.
"I'm looking for my donkey!" Nasrudin answered.
Like most Sufi jokes this seems calculated only to annoy us, like a
Marx Brothers routine that doesn't quite succeed in being funny.

Sure, you'll be able to find a few of them that enjoy their work but I'll
bet 99 out of a 100 do not! It would be one thing to be a high paid call
girl that chooses their Johns - that is kept in some penthouse apartment and
lavished with furs and jewels, then a hooker down on Van Buren having to go
to bed with every kook in town and /or with whom their pimp says they must!
Either way, they are allowing themselves to be used. And, NO! I would not! I
feel that I can go to bed with who ever I want. But the key word is 'WANT'!

Heck no! They probablly like it. Why not? They get to fool around with some
good looking hunk. They arn't forced to go with just anyone to make a
living. There is no pimp pressure. And, these kind of movies are legal!
Also, in these movies the woman alone isn't exploited. If I can remember
back to the last time I saw one of these movies, both the man and woman were
naked and doing their thing! -=*) ANN (*=-

There have been statistics stating that less than 3% of people really enjoy
their jobs. So if only 5% of prostitutes enjoy their jobs, then they are
right in line with the nation. I don't think that most women are forced
into prostitution, but that most enter it willingly.
Perhaps we should go to Nye County and do a little survey, eh?

I do not agree with you that a woman whose occupation you find distasteful
is being "used." I also do not agree that freedom consists in being taken
"seriously or equally" by men.

So the Miss America contest exploits women, and should be dropped? Well
then, the Mr America contest exploits men, and so logically that should be
dropped, too. But if you want to be logical, *all* contests should be
banned as exploitative of people who have a chance of winning them. This
doesn't make sense.
Now I think the logic is that the existance of Miss America is a message
that if you don't measure up well with the contestants' qualifications, then
you're a failure. Do you buy that?
Well, then there's motocross. Its existance implies that anyone who isn't
crazy enough to ride a motorcycle in the mud is a failure. I don't buy
that. There's the World Chess Championship, whose existance implies that if
I can't play chess as well as Bobby Fisher, them I'm a failure. Well, I
don't buy that. The Mr America contest implies that if I don't have a
totally ridiculous amount of muscle, I'm a failure. Well, I don't buy that.
If you're against Miss America because she implies that you're a failure,
then the problem is your own -- you've bought the line.
Some people like looking at pretty girls; others at muscle-bound men;
others at high-school science fair exhibits; etc., etc., ad nauseum. Just
don't accept someone else's criterion of usefulness as universal, and these
contests won't bother you.

Imagine what a new beginning for this world would be with the
understanding that these two astronauts have. Early man worshipped the sun
and feared the night. None of this would have to be. With the technology
these two possess a lot of mistakes would be avoided. Solar technology
could be used as well as cordless telephones and environmental housing.
By the way, I went and got sick. I have a hell of a sore throat, a
fever and some chills. I just woke up after sleeping for many hours. But
it is a good time to get sick because it is too hot out for work.

Imagine a person who has a sickness in their brain and it causes,
among other things, sores to pop up on various parts of the body. You treat
the sores and see that they go away and you claim victory but the sores pop
up elsewhere. This reminds me of what our court system does when it puts
people away, treats the disease but not the cause. Of course if they wanted
to treat the cause then many, if not most, would have to step down.
