Do you guys really want to put together a nice GT, or is this
Bull$#!+ing around? We sure could use one if we could get the word out and
around. Maybe at the end of May? Will Burkhart and Lippard be back in town
by then? We could also open it up to include other BBS SYSTEMS around town.

At a park? Maybe a Pizza place central to Phoenix area?

The second of June is when the infamous Grand Prick will be run in downtown
Phoenix. I'm game.

I have a headache too. Life gave it to me and only Mother Nature can
take it away. I never dream with a headache. The pain keeps me in Never,
Never land of dark journeys to nowhere; knowing, seeing, feeling nothing.
Slowly wading through the night with a sense of deep solitude is all there
is to my existence at night with a headache. Life is too short and Love too
scarce to cause me to dwell on the negatives of my encounters with my
relatives and friends. Good things can come from ones memories and good
things shall come to those who so desire. So, where are these good memories
tonight? My greatest enemy has come to visit tonight. He is hear to
ruthlessly taunt me, to savagely tear at my soul. Tonight, I do so wish for
a headache. I want the sacred feeling of lonely nonexistance, of eternally
striving to greet the begining of the new day and never reaching that goal.
I want that subtil turmoil. My desire grows as my fear for my enemy grows.
I toss and I turn and I sweat. My chest aches as anxiety grips my heart and
slams it about. My eyes water, my spirit sighs ...............
My enemy has come.

When you get a headache, try this. Make sure that both of
your nostrils are clear and able to take in large amounts of oxygen. If not
then go to a water tap and with clean hands, fill your palms with the
liquid. Snort a little water to clear your nose. Then, breath in oxygen,
taking deep breaths. If you must, go to where the best oxygen is located,
such as a lushy grass area. The greener the better. Breath deep, expand
your lungs.
Another way is, if your head offends thee, then cut it off. Cures
headaches, too.

Subject: rape
Date: 05/19/89 Time: 02:03:16

That is poor reasoning. A women who dresses suggestively may
indeed be interested in sex; but not with every guy in existence.
She may dress that way in the hope of attracting a "Mr. Right". Obviously,
she wants to maximize her sex appeal for a limited audience. A man who buys
a Trans-Am may want to impress people, but not potential car thieves. Get
it?
Furthermore, a woman (or a man, for that matter), may simply enjoy the sense
of desireability and attractiveness that flirting or revealing clothes may
bring (in the form of amorous attention). There is nothing wrong with that,
and it can hardly be a causal link to rape.
Rape is a crime of violence, not of passion. There are just too many easy
women out there for this not to be true. Sex can behad far more easily than
drugs (and that's saying a lot). Most often, age and/or appearance are
immaterial to the rapist. That is because violence against women is his
goal, not sexual gratification. Sex becomes the tool, the means and not the
end.

Subject: Cognitive dissonance
Date: 05/19/89 Time: 02:22:48

Isn't it amazing? People all too often must convince themselves that the
unobtainable is not at all what they wanted anyway; if they didn't, it would
mean existing in a state where one's desires conflicted with one's
attributes or whatever other entity the unobtainable happens to be. For
people who tend toward all or nothing, dichotomous attitudes (like Rod
Williams), this inconsistency is intolerable.
If I'm big and strong, but dumb, I tend to exagerrate the importance of
physical prowess, and denigrate those "wimps" who seem more intelligent. If
I'm intelligent, but feeble, I do just the opposite. By ignoring all the
exceptions to such hopelessly simple-minded classifications, I have created
a fantasy world where my unfulfilled desires actually become advantageous.

Furthermore, many people seem to suffer from what I call "cosmic balance"
syndrome. The idea that someone else could actually enjoy "everything"
(i.e. whatever they consider to be the good things in life...money,
prestige, fame, looks, intelligence, etc.) gives them troubled feelings of
dissatisfaction and envy. In order to reconcile their inconsistent
attitudes with reality, they decide that whenever someone has some
particular advantage, they must have some disadvantage to balance things
out, and vice-versa. The model can't be intelligent, for that would be
too unfair. The blind man must have exceptional hearing, because if he
didn't have some sort of compensation, that too would be too unfair.

I see they've jumped on the remodeling bandwagon same as Bob's and Dunkin'
Donuts have. I suspect that they see profits either becoming flat or falling
and think that giving the place a fresh new look is the answer. What's
strange to me is that (particularly in the case of Bob's Big Boy) on one
hand you have a parent company dumping a classic (and nostalgic) coffee shop
design for something more "modern," yet you have others (like Ed Debevic's)
cashing in on America's appetite for nostalgia.

Shangri-La at 28th Dr. & Cactus for Chinese (Szechuan, Hunan, Mandarin).
Believe it or not, Long John Silver's for seafood.
When we can't make up our minds what we want, Luby's is a pretty fair bet
for variety, although the decor and steam table food leave something to be
desired.

Your messages were good, well written and worthy of note. In my
everyday life I am not an all or nothing person. If this were true, I
wouldn't have made it as far as I have. But in a debate I go for the all
because a journey of a thousand miles begins with, as you know, the first
step. I have nine children jumping around this planet and besides that, all
humans are basically the same. We all have worries and fears and real
troubles whether you be rich or poor.
I know this world needs much improvement, it is obvious after
spending a waking day in it. I like to push for change rather than accept
that which is. Someone has to do it. I like to be a part of evolution, a
positive part. And I realize that we live in a top five country of this
world but even the best needs improvement. But this will come as humans
learn about their roots and the possibilities of the future. In the
meanwhile, I will point out what I feel are inconsistencies, as I see them
and learn in the process. I am still evolving. -Rod
