I wanted to go, but since the restaurant and gallery opened two weeks ago,
I've been real busy. I liked Carter's idea too. It's time we do something
like that to break up the monotony. Though a female might help aleviate
boredom even better.

Have you seen the Hendrix film that was shot at Monterey? I think I shall
begin worshiping him as my new God.

I like Easter. It's a special time of year when we celebrate
traditional pagan cerimonies like hiding eggs, giving clothes, getting
Easter baskets, and the Easter Bunny. Some joker tried to take the day for
his own somewhere around 35 A.D., but the candy, eggs, and rabbits are still
with us. He's dead.

I don't believe that. You can take care of your body constantly and STILL
get diseases. If you mean in general, then your right of course. Our bodies
however - are our worst enemies in this world. No love - no money will save
you from sickness and death and no God either. When we die, we are at that
moment TOTALLY alone. What happens afterwards will not alter that fact. I
could count on one hand the people that I know of that just died - no
horrible heart attacks etc - just keeled over and ceased to be. Most people
grow old - start to have aches and pains that never go away and one day,
doom falls and a horribe disease really starts in on you and if your lucky,
it will be quick and merciful. But most arn't so lucky. Rod is right - we're
never truly comfortable unless we're in deep sleep and don't know any
better. So what's so great about these bodies? Bah, humbug! -=*) ANN (*=-

I was responding to your message about societal isolation, not about people
and the crimes they commit.

Perhaps you should read something about Paolo Soleri and his vision of
society. I believe his "arcologies" would represent a step in the right
direction. Briefly, the urban center would be concentrated in a relatively
small area where the automobile would be unncecessary. Mass transit and
personal transporation such as the bicycle would move you around the core of
the urban area. Don't get the idea that a city such as this would be a
technological throwback -- Soleri's cities would include airports and
parking area for your automobile for longer excursions.

In the first place Cliff, the USPO has not even existed for quite a few
years. It is the USPS, United States Postal Service.
You are right about it not being the same since I left thogh. I have the
same problems as everybody else. All I get now are bills and junk mail.
Never got junk mail before I left. Just advertising.

The black-slurring refers specificaly to his famed "pickaninny"
remarkS. Note the emphasis on the plural. Mecham's defenders often point
out that it was used in an essay in a book that was written at a time when
using the word was not unacceptable, so why all the fuss?
Here's why. I *agree* with the bit about it being justifed in the
book. That doesn't bother me at all. What *does* bother me is his
subsequent statement that he saw nothing wrong with using the word, and that
he has heard blacks use the term themselves. Well, if I were bald, it would
not be wrong for me to refer to myself as "baldy" if I wanted to. But, it
*would* be wrong to call anyone else that. It's okay to insult yourself,
but not others. Mecham's supporters concentrate solely on his first remark,
and not his second, for obvious reasons. I have had some flat out say that
he never said using pickaninniny was okay, and that if I didn't have
AIDS-caused brain damage from being Ed Buck's lover, I'd know that. Yeah,
now it's arguments like that that are SURE to change my views.
As far as this Christian nation business goes, I think this is an
Everyone nation, not a Christian nation.

Yesterday a woman hit a guy a lane over from me at a stop light.
The guy, probably in his late 30's ran over to the woman in her
car and asked if she was alright.
She responded with a stream of profanity that would curdle the
spit in a tug boat capatain's mouth. Then she commenced to throw things
at him as she got out of her car. She hit him twice with closed fists
until two other motorists intervened.

I think anyone who drives a white car is selfish, uncaring, unmerciful,
cruel and callous.

What in the heck does a woman driving a white car that hits a guy and then
comes out swinging and cussing and dear James Hawley's van geting stolen got
to do with the IRS? If I saw every person that drove white cars and had
accidents react the same way - then I'd say people in white cars are all
alike! Thus is my reaction to the IRS because that's ALL I've seen from
them! If they are so many decent people working for them - and for the life
of me, I don't know why a decent person would? - why don't they act like it
then? Ditto any government employees like in the motor vehecle dept. -
zoning boards, etc. etc. I have been to MANY DMVs and NEVER got treated well
or kindly. They all act as if they are doing you a favor to give you their
time. The IRS is nothing but America's police force. Maybe the people that
work for them are only doing their duty - or is it perhaps more? Ego? Power
hungry? They do not simply state the laws - they act like they have made
them and they certainly are not above telling you how illegal and immoral
you've been, not to mention un-patriotic you've been by not paying your
taxes. It is only a job - why can't they keep the 'Holier than thou'
attitude out of it? Even you addmitted Mike that you know of some that don't
like what they have to do. Then Why do it? They could take a lot of that
money spent on policing people and help to get this country better
strightened out instead of making more stupid tax laws to bleed off more of
our money. Not the people, the government. I have absolutely no respect for
the IRS - what it is today! And I still don't know what James' van has to do
with it. Bah. humgug! -=*) ANN (*=-
