Both of you are making some good points in your posts of Rep. & Libs. I
agree with the statement Dean made that if the Libs. got their foot in the
door, the Rep. & Dem. would preform better. Cliff: I too do not go along
with all the Libertarians have to say, but it beats the heck out of what
we've got so far - or I should say, what the two parties have become! They
whittle away at what little freedoms we have left. I like the idea that a
party could come along that would restore a lot of those freedoms and more!
I've always believed the people ought to have control over their own lives
and keep the politicians noses out of our business as much as possible.
Whether the Libs. will indeed keep this promice remains to be seen, but I'm
certainly for giving them a chance.
Re: the border - (Mex.) I believe it should be open, wide open. Most of the
jobs we do give the Mexcans, Americans wouldn't take, don't want to begin
with. They ought to get fair wages and pay income tax like the rest of us.
They also should be checked health wise. If I'm not mistaken, that is the
policy toward the immigrents anyway and always has been. As it is, we let so
few in and have a 'wet back' problem that we arn't controling and do get the
dregs of that society. Being a person that has lived in several rural
communities, I can say with truth that we treat these illegal aliens like
scum most of the time. We give out animals better housing and facilities. If
they were tax payers, I think a lot of that would stop because the way it
is now, we've got them by the 'Cajones' because they are illegal and that
seems to give some people the license to be cruel. -=*) ANN (*=-

        Do you have your head screwed on straight?  You said"We should let
them all in but they should pay income TAXes."  ??   I thought the
Libertarians were going to do away with Income Taxes!?  
        I still do not want the boarders wide open to let the criminal
element and other scum in.  Why would we want a system that did not collect
income taxes to be burdened down by handicapped and the sick pouring in so
we would have to care for them.  This is what I mean about Libertarians,
they have bleeding hearts, and feel we can feed the world and maintain low
or no taxes, and yet have money for roads and national defence.  Yet, they
fail to say how to do this to my satisfaction.  They mumble somthing about
there being a lot of ways to raise money???  (Maybe they mean print it)?
        
        As for open boarders, I want screening of immigrants so that we do
let in ones that contribute to society and have usefull skills.  I do
remember this country was founded with immigrants.
        Ann, Re Cuba:  Look what trash Fidel Castro sent over to burden our
society with.  This is what a 'Wide Open Border' would do to us.

        Though I do not agree with his ban on assult weapons, I can see the
great pressure he is under.  The Ban of IMPORTED assault weapons should not
have affected Colt...but somehow it has.  I am more dissapointed with Colt
than I am with Bush.  I am referring to Colt's decision to abandon the AR15.
        
        The reason I did not answer Dean was I will not get into the name
calling debate.  I am a Republican and there are many good Republicans and
there are Bad Republicans.  I can say this about ANY party, including the
Democrats.  A party does not make you sinless and pure just like it does not
make you a hardened criminal.  We ALL have human weakness.  Dean feels this
does not apply to Libertarians however, as they are all white washed in
purity.

        Seems to me Hitler's party fell into this category at first.
(They promised the world as well...)

  So, it was ok for Bush to do something wrong and stupid because he was put
under pressure to do it. So, Cliff is too much above name-calling to address
the complicity of Republicans in expanding government and trampling freedom,
but he can pause to draw a silly comparison between Hilter and the
Libertarian Party. He seems to be grasping for straws all over the spectrum
here since he made just as silly a remark a few messages back about
Libertarians expecting him to feed and care for anyone who came into the
country. Bleeding-Heart Nazis, it has a nice ring to it I guess.

 3. Stamp out racist graffiti.  Cover up swastikas & white power slogans
    with anti-Nazi messages.
 4. Know your local Nazis -- find out all you can: who they are, who they
    know, where & when they hang out, what they do.
 5. Make your own anti-racist stickers & flyers & put them up.
 6. Talk to people where you hang out: stores, clubs, schools, parks.

    against U.S. intervention in Central America, against nuclear arms.
13. Have a John Brown speaker, video, or film presentation at your house,
    school, club, church.
14. Talk to the media -- call & write newspapers, radio & TV stations.
15. Call talk shows.
16. Talk to bands.  They can write songs, they can speak out onstage, & they
    travel, so they can check out what's going on in different cities.
17. Support anti-racist, anti-sexist bands, zines, & artists.
18. Boycott clubs that tolerate racism.
19. If you see or hear racist bands, records, tapes, complain to the club
    or the store.  Let us know too.
20. Keep your eye out for racist leaflets & magazines.  If you can, send
    them to us & let us know where you found them.
21. Join & support groups & projects for human rights, for peace, for a
    healthy environment.
22. Defend human rights -- tell people what you think when unfair shit goes
    down.
23. Tell the neighborhood what you think with flyers, posters, & spraypaint.

        Cliff, I don't see what problem you are having about the liberties
that are enjoyed by the people in that country.  A citizen can do whatever
they want as long as it does not interfere with anothers rights.
        There is a section in Amsterdam where drugs are legal.  One cannot
go anywhere and roll a joint but they have their area.
        Prostitution is legal and state run.  The women are checked out
medically.  Here in the U.S., except for a county in Nevada, prostitution
is illegal but from what is known for a fact, it flourishes.  The girls are
not checked out and deseases are being spread at an alarming rate.
        If you are a homosexual in Holland you can get married.
        If you have a terminal illness in Holland you can ask for and
receive an injection.
        
        They have freedoms that only I can dream about.  If we had such
freedoms, I would not go to a prostitue, I would not marry another man, I
would not use drugs with the exception of an occasional joint and I might
get a injection if I deemed it necessary.  I would rather die quickly than
suffer, as some I know have, for several years.  What is a 'few seconds'
more of life when it comes to being in constant pain?  You, I and everyone I
now know will be physically dead is relatively short order anyway.  I think
it should be a legal option as the state has no right to control your very
personal life.

        In reality, I belong to no political party.  I belong to the human
race and when I see a fairly struggling, unhappy population then that tells
me that something needs changing.  Since it is the elected politician who
controls the population I feel that the Libertarian standpoint is the
closest to allowing citizens to have more personal freedoms than any of the
others.  In fact the other parties do not even allude to allowing more
personal freedoms.  Only the Libertarians do this.
        In Holland, during the last legislative vote that dealt with the
freedom of homosexuals to marry, the majority favored it while the Christian
Minority voted against it.  Yes, even there it is the Christians who feel
that personal freedoms should be restricted.  Isn't that odd?  It's the same
way here.
        Even though studies by competent organizations, such as the Cato
Institution, recommend that personal freedoms be given to citizens,
including the legalization of all drugs, the Christian Majority in this
country basically say, "Over My Dead Body."  They, it seems, cannot see past
the end of their noses.  And if and when this country is laying in ruins
from economic collapse, caused by drugs being illegal and overpopulated
prisons, at $20,000 per year per inmate, then don't blame those who had the
foresight to see how Holland handled itself.  
        The country is doing well, both economically and socially.  They
don't have the rapes, robberies or murders that we have here.  And the only
reason is that their politicians had the foresight to recognize that each
individual has the right to do with their bodies as THEY see fit.   Rod
