Frankly, I don't have an answer in my head for the Timothy quote, Ann. I
will look it up and see what gives, though. I do know that virtually every
church that I am aware of has women in teaching positions, and many have
priests and/or pastors of the feminine gender, so if the Pauline quote is to
be taken literally, there are a lot of churches that don't, that's for sure.

all the time I have been here on Apollo. I have no particular problem with
the handles that some users use regularly (B. Dog for example).
If I may say so without incurring your wrath, however, I do have a problem
with the way that Roger Mann stated that if he was ever put in the zone, he
would never log back in under the name of Roger Mann, and then you allowed
him to pull the sneaky trick and come back the next day under the Green
Lantern handle. That was nothing less than playing footsie with the rules
for his own advantage. It was, in my opinion, underhanded, sneaky and
unethical.
I still love ya, though, and I never made any rash statements about leaving

Central Ave. is indeed a public thoroughfare, accessible to all the

traffic and causing damage to business and personal property there, however,
is yet another matter. What it will probably boil down to will be who wields
the most power, the businessmen along Central, or the cruisers.

It's about time they started telling their patients they have AIDS!
It seems there has been some strange underground plot to stiffle the dangers
of AIDS - to make it appear like it's no big deal - after all, you can't get
it by touching another person, etc. etc. But the disease is going 'up' and
we fail to see that. I don't think they know all about the disease yet if
they ever will. If I were going to go to a doctor, I'd certainly want to
know if he had it or not and I would not go to him!!! I also wouldn't go to
him if he were a herion or cocaine addict either. I might have friends that
do those things, but not someone I put my life in their hands!

Many years ago I had a dentist cut himself slightly while he had his hand in
my mouth - maybe on a sharp piece of tooth he was trying to extract - he
must have bled ever so slightly in my mouth. What if he had AIDS? I'm not a
professional on the disease, but I do know that it's fatal! I want no part
of it! *>>> ANN O. <<<*

I printed out your two posts on women and the Bible just so I
wouldn't make any mistakes in what you said - or I should say - what
the Bible says because you certainly do not have much of a mind of
your own! I cannot and do not believe that all Christians believe
the way you do. I cannot believe that all Christian wives believe it
either. It is things such as this that keep me thinking how much man
has corrupted the Bible - added things that have nothing to do with
God or His word - such as what I belive Paul did! Not only did he
add what society dictated in that day and age - but his own
prejudice.
I cannot conceive of any intelligent person NOT questioning some of
the Bible. Re: this subject - have you never ask yourself .....

....Are the souls of man and woman the same in God's eye - look the
same to Him - mean as much to Him? Does He want the woman sinner to
be saved as badly as a man?

.... Did Jesus die horribly on the cross for women as well as men?

.... Is the Ten Commandments for women to follow also?

Please do not answer these questions with Bible quotes. I want YOUR
answers!!

If you answered 'YES' to any of those questions, I ask you ....
then what does it matter who is head of the household? Who sinned
first? Who has long hair or short? Who preaches in the Temples,
churches, etc? Who keeps silent in church? Or that woman was born of
man? Or that women are subjected to their mates? Or if the widow
stays unmarried or not? What has ANY of this to do with salvation?
Christ dying on the cross? Heaven? God? Have you never questioned
Paul? Any of this? Why not? It is so obvious to me that none of it
is from God that sent His son down to die for us all! We make Him
sound 'trite' with all this garbage. He was no 'distinguisher' - why
are you?

If Paul was guided by God's hand - then why, in his letter to the
Roman's does he tell them the slave's souls are just as important as
theirs - yet fails to tell them to set the slaves free??? This has
puzzled me for years.

So how come with women in 'their given role's are so much more
restrictive than men in their roles? You know - with their silence
in church - their 'vail of hair', their subjugation to men?

You really believe that "Eve caused Adam to sin"? (your quote) They
were both weak as far as I can see Daryl, not just Eve - and lets
look at it another way - she was tempted by Mr. Biggie - the Devil
himself. Who could resist that temptation? But ole Adam was only
tempted by a lowly women, yet he succumbed just as redily didn't he?
BTW - did she twist his arm? Refuse him sex or what to convince him?
I will admit she took the first bite, but what does that matter? One
sinner isn't any better than another are they?

So you believe that women don't belong on the pulpit because it is
the will of God er? Are you sure it isn't the 'will of Paul or Peter
or other writers of the Bible'? Where else in the Bible does it
state that women can't preach? Did Jesus say it - ever? If so,
please quote it! Where did God say it -and I certainly don't mean
through Paul either!?!

Again I quote Paul .... "I permit no women to teach or to have
authority over men; she is to keep silent"! Also ... "Yet women will
be saved through bearing children if she continues in faith and love
and holiness with modesty." So this is saying that Jesus dying on
the cross isn't enough for women - they must bear children etc????

I admit that I never will understand this 'head of the household'
stuff. I chuckled when I read that your wife makes more money than
you do and you still have the nerve to say you are head of that
household!!

My stomach lurched when I read your .... "The man/father of the
house is to be the leader of the house both in regular matters and
especially in spiritual matters. A father is to be a role-model in
this respect - a human representation of our Heavenly Father."
I ask again - is the woman's soul so much lessor than a man's that
she can't be a role model also in her own home, to the children she
bore? Is her soul not representing the Heavenly Father? She can
spend her life in her home - making it a beautiful haven - raising
her children, giving a lot of love and she isn't even the head of
that household? Even a co-head?? "She should look to the man for
regular matters and spiritual matters"? I know what the latter is,
but what is regular matters - balancing the check book - grocery
shopping -what is best on rearranging the furniture - should she use
plastic or cloth diapers - checking with him before she buys that
blouse or what?? What if she has a college education? Should she
still check with the head first on these regular matters?

I cannot imagine a woman doctor, dentist, lawyer, racecar driver,
backhoe operator, entrepreneur coming home to the 'head of the
household letting him guide her on 'regular matters and spiritual
matters'!!! A home should be shared equally with all that create it!
Idealy, both should be the ruling members - but sometimes the man is
the guiding person, the stronger one, but also sometimes the woman
is and she should have that right to be who she is and not be
subjected to what some Dude wrote in the Bible as God's word over
2,000 years ago! Again, I am always amazed that you do not question
this!

Why are you against women preachers? If their words are inspiring
and they bring souls to God, why should they be banned? Isn't that
the purpose of preaching? Do you think women do not comprehend the
words of God as well as men do? Could not preach as powerfully?
Please explain this in detail without Bible Quotes - your words!
I am quoting it and asking why you belive in everything it says - so
in answering in quotes, doesn't tell me a thing! See?

Re: your .... "I do not believe the Equal Rights Movement is seeking
equality for women I believe they are seeking SUPREMACY"!

I do not believe that in the least, but lets for conversation sake
assume they are! Maybe it's about time someone took away man's
power. He has totally bungled it up and continues to do so. Could
women do any worse? I hardly think so!

However, I am not for any sex ruling exclusively. We are all just
human's - no matter the color or sex or sexual preference. We all
want the same thing - peace of mind - to live without war or threat
of war - to worship as we wish - to not starve and have a dry place
to sleep - to know our children are safe - to dress as we wish - to
love whom we wish. The list is long and both sexes share it! I feel
that if I wish to preach in the church of my choice and I am
qualified, then I should not be banned from it or else I am
discriminated against! When someone like Paul says "I permit no
woman .... etc" and you or anyone else believes it, then I am in
essence, discriminated against! I know you don't believe that, but
it is perfectly clear to me..

In finishing this up - I have one more question for you Daryl -
again, no Bible quotes please ...
... if you take away my private parts that differ from a man's,
isn't what is left the same as a man - a soul? If you take away a
man's private parts that differ from a woman's, isn't what is left
the same - a soul?

For what it's worth, I have had 56 years experience on this earth
and can truthfully say I have not found that men are superior in any
way or that women are either. Nor have I seen one having anymore
stamina, intelligence, common sense, patience, religion, or what-
have-you than the other. Individuals, yes, not as a whole! Not
enough to make it a blanket rule that woman can't preach or can't be
head of the household! Its time to forget that junk and start to see
that we have much in common - not focus on the minute differences.
It seems to me that that is what God would want instead of a
egotistical male coming home to 'his' house and ruling over regular
matters and spiritual matters!!' I laugh at Paul, but he won you
know. He allowed the males to keep their egos intact and still go to
Heaven. Poor Jesus missed out though. He had to let go of all ego on
the Cross! Anyway, thank you for listening Daryl. I hope you see the

If the family is destroyed - then society in general did this, not the

only in your brief lifetime, but certainly in the last 2,000 years! If one

"Thou shall not kill" is a good example. What this means to Christians is
this: It's okay to kill sometimes.

Don't pray in the square in front of others but go into your closet. What
this means is: Hell, I am not praying, I'm just "witnessing".

In other words, Christians are the biggest hypocrites on this planet, vile
and filthy. A Christian can make ANYTHING say ANYTHING but they are only
fooling themselves because they are obvious to anyone who can actually
think.

No, actually what that passage about the 40 children being put to death
by a bear should read. "They weren't children but grown vile men who were
totally evil." See, doesn't that make Mr. God look better already?

By the way, you can use my interpretation for all future discussions. It's
so easy.

And, "Thou shall not kill" means: It's okay to kill as long as your
government says it is okay or if the person is a different skin color and/or
speaks a different language. (I could do this all day using the Christian
method.

"Don't pray outloud like the hypocrites do but go into the closet" simply
means: Just call it witnessing and it's okay.

In the first book of Atheists it says: "Don't fart in public" but since the
word public can be taken so many ways it is okay to fart anywhere, anytime.

See?

Hey, woman, don't you know your proper place? What is the idea of you
questioning a male of the species? You are going directly against the
teachings of the bible. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes come judgement
day. (They're probably too small and would pinch my feet.) -Rod

P.S. Good posts but do you really expect a meaningful answer? Aren't you
just spinning your wheels? Keep spinning, you may crack the armor on some
of the less gullible of the lot.

Re: Do you feel comfortable worshipping a God who would send bears out of
the woods to attack little children?

As I recall they were young men, not little children. They deserved what
they got. I don't have a problem with it.

Well, if they were young men then it is certainally okay. After all, mocking
someone's bald head is a serious offense. What god wouldn't send a bear in
for the killing after something like that? Glory be.

Religion in general is a carry-over from the past. It generally afflicts
the weak, the lame, the easily lead, the sheep of the world, if you will.

Christianity in general is proof positive that brainwashing does work.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that it is a disease but I would go as far
as saying that it is vile and filth. Even the basic tenets of that belief
has been and is being corrupted as I type.

Everything is subject to interpretation and I, along with all freethinkers
everywhere, see that the bible can and does say absolutely anything that
a so-called believer wants it to say, bar nothing.

There is nothing that is immoral to a Christian, anytime or anywhere. And
if a Christian does something that others of that ilk feel is wrong then
that too is okay because a Christian does not have to be perfect, just
forgiven.
