I've changed my mind again. Make that a mango stand in Zimbabwe. Colorful
urchins shall scamper about. No wait; how about a French restaurant (that
is to say, a restaurant in France) which serves only Chicken McNuggets and
snowpeas on Russian rye bread. However, all the help will be incredibly
snooty.

You have to excuse Jeff Beck for a moment and consider a few things
about someone so vehemently against anyone who has anything to do
with something he doesn't understand.
As with most people who are anti-religious, their stero-type deluxe
is a perfect model for ranting and raving, delusions, irrational thought
amoung other things.
Read their messages. It will give you a better understanding of yourself.
You will come to understand why it took so long to realize there is
a GOD and Christ isn't a fairy tale just by reading their messages.
It's truly a learning experience.. many times I have seen myself in
those messages and recognized the despise and irrational hatred within
my own heart at things spiritual and true.
There is a Rock. His name is Jesus Christ. All others are but motes
of dust in the wind.
It's far easier to lie and destroy than it is to tell the truth and
construct.
Gee, I wonder why?

Today at 12:34 and 56 seconds it was/will be 7-8-90.
The next time that sort of numerological convergence occurs is in the year
2090.
I plan to open a Door for the Old Ones. The stars are right, the Watcher
has returned, and Miskatonic University has recently suffered a rather
selective theft from their library collection.

I'm rather dissapointed with his anti-semetic remarks. He seemed quite
above that -- I saw nothing of that sort in three of his books -- then quite
suddenly, in Four Faultless Felons, you couldn't escape it; there was some
nasty stereotype in every story. I finally broke down and bought The
Complete Father Brown. I have come across similar things in it, but not to
the same degree. I realize that the attitude was somewhat endemic to the
times, but really; are we to assume that fair treatment and living with
one's eyes open are matters of fashion?
I must also say that his Father Brown stories are somewhat lacking. One of
the most encouraging remarks made by one of his detective characters (in
another book) was the absurdity of the deductions worked by fictional
detectives; that the facts could be explained by any number of theories, not
merely the one the detective had in mind. And yet, in one F.B. story, the
priest somehow manages to deduce -- merely from the sound of an individual's
footsteps -- that he is "a gentleman of Western Europe who has never worked
a day in his life." Rather more like a parody of the detective genre, and
yet we are intended to take such deductions seriously.

Today in the Republic (Sunday) in the second section there is Ed Montini's
column dealing with Ronnie Barlow. Ed complains that the 'gun people' did
not make any effort to help Ronnie and then he goes on to tell the story
from his vantage point.
I think you should give Ed a call and let him know what you and the others
are doing in the matter.
Well, read the story and act.

Subject: My questions
Date: 07/08/90 Time: 13:00:28
My questions from yesterdays post that deal with eternity and people of
religion were asked in sincerity.
If someone could actually answer, instead of mock, one of these questions
then I think the entire board would be that much wiser.
A deep seated belief expressed by many who cannot or will not answer a
direct question leaves me with the feeling that their beliefs came from peer
pressure.
There are many a brainwashed individual in this world in all sorts of
matters including religion. The atheists I have met are questioning people
with open minds. There is no atheist churchs in existence although Madelyn
O'Hair may want to start one.
I would suppose, from evidence gathered, that in order to be a member of a
religion that questioning is taboo.
If my questions seem to bother some then please, by all means, take them to
your religion leaders and pose them for me. You may not be liked afterwards
but answers are important.
Just say to your pastor that some hell-bound, atheist, pinko, scum gave them
to you and that should get you off the hook. Thanks, -Rod :)

Well I don't know what is going to happen after I die, if I would, and I
could prove it, I'd propably be rich.
Again, I am not at the moment a practicing Christian, I do however believe
in Christ's message of love. You always have to remember, the bible wether
old or new testament, were written by men. There have to be descrepencies
somewere. But I do believe in a higher being, I cannot give that being a
name, because It has ahd so many during the course of human history.
All I can say is, What is a little wasted time *COMMUNICATING* With this
being? I would have wasted this precious time somewere else. The only reason
I still haven't made up my mind about christ is because of my partial Jewish
background. That the reason I knid of look forward to some biblestudy, to
learn more about something I don't understand. All I can say is this:
since I have started believing in god or jehowa or budda or allaa or what
ever his name is, I fell better about myself and the life I'm living.
This very basic belief has helped me, bottom line.
Now if somebody can show me something better, or a better way to fell good
about myself, please do, and I'll try to LEARN more about it.

You say "If someone could actually answer, instead of mock...."
Then you go on in that very same post 'mocking' us Christians by insinuating
only the atheists you have met, are open minded. Rod, you always 'mock' us
Christians... so why should we bother answering your questions?

I think the Father Brown stories ARE to be taken very lightly, as
"entertainments" not as serious exercises in deduction. As a matter of fact,
many of them are parodies of other detective stories.
The anti-semitism is indeed a matter of fashion, I think. We read it
now and it jolts us. At the time, however, there was no negative reaction to
it. And yes, I think we are often creatures of fashion. See how we now look
at homosexuals, divorse, abortion, cohabitation without marriage, etc. And
see how we now view war, compared to a century past. --John C.--

Oh, hell yes, I'll rise to that bait. But the key thin is going to
be simply the question of the existence of God. If you can father a child,
smell a flower, enjoy a sunset without suspecting a creator, then we are a
long way away.
But try this as one of a dozen or so proofs of God. It is a fact
that movement without plan results in chaos. (A thousand monkeys on a
thousand typewriters might preoduce Hamlet, but if they keep on typing,
they'll produce gibberish, unplanned. A lage box of crystal goblets if
shaken up MIGHT make a model of the Taj Mahal, but the next shake produces a
mess, because no plan.) But the world we apprehend shows development from
the less to the more involved. If you don't accept evolution, then a
different proof comes up--matterial existence-- but if you accept evolution,
it appears that we evolved by a plan. Plan requires a Planner, effect
requires a cause, back to the Uncaused Cause. Please dispute this, if you
will, but don't just ignore it: it is a good valid proof. --John C.--

According to Christianity, Jeff, you as a non-believer in Jesus the Christ
will burn for all eternity in the fires of hell.
What type of religion is that? One that would exclude some from eternal
happiness over some really petty issue.
This belief that the mainstream Christian has should tell you everything you
need to know about them.
That is exactly why I say that they DO NOT nor CAN NOT have opened minds as
long as they hold such a ridiculous belief.
Can you understand this simply concept, Jeff L.?

There is no particular plan in the way the stars and planets move. It is
simply mass in motion on a ever changing continuum. Galaxies pass away, run
their course and in them new galaxies are born.
If you think or even suspect that the human animal is intelligent then think
again. If you are offering proof that animals were created, period, plus in
the image of the creator then I ask from what science book do you get your
information.
If it weren't for science then take a guess of the belief system that would
be in effect this very day. Need you guess?
For one, I would be dead, having been put to death for views other than
okayed by the church.
You message, stating that monkeys cannot write a song or items assembling
themselves in usable order on their very own is non-sense.
I will re-read that post of yours and give you a answer next log on.
