If the Bullhead City council is as ignorant of the people's wishes as the
Phoenix city council is, then they should have no problem ignoring the
already passed referendum.
Remember prop. 200? That was the one that said that the council could not
spend more than $3 million on playthings without a vote of the people. It
was designed to respond in protest to the council's plan to spend some $35
million on an amphitheater for Zef Bufman.
Guess what's being built in Maryvale, in spite of prop 200, which by the
way passed by an overwhelming margin?
"Government of, by and for the people"? Who is kidding whom?
As for my opinion on the matter, I do not believe that one red cent of
public funds should be spent on projects that benefit primarily private
enterprise. That goes for amphitheaters, basketball arenas, baseball
stadiums, or anything else of that kind. If such a project is successful, it
is private enterprise that reaps the rewards, and justly so. If it fails,
why should we all share the loss? It makes no sense at all.

Well, people like our lying ex-mayor believe that "naysayers" such as
yourself are really interfering with the growth of phoenix.
Look at the money involved in all of their expensive pet projects, instead
of doing something that would be of use to almost all of us, fix the
freeway construction problems. They aren't making enough of the sales tax
because all the new people they want to move here to use the freeways
haven't moved here. Growth to Goddard and friends means more people, not
better quality of life, like it should.
We need baseball, so they say, but WHY? They usually say it is for image.
The image I see is people frying on bleachers, or exorbitant ticket prices
to pay for A/C. Like the Grand Prix, it will be out of the reach of the
average citizen...Also like the football situation.
And it seems that we aren't even a real candidate for expansion.
the Phoenix Heat Islanders probably would rarely sell out a game.

I don't quite think so... What would you do if someone who you were
arguing with said they were goint to "Get a gun".... I suppose you would
let them? You have no way of knowing if it is a bluff or not.
One, you retreat quickly! Two, you stop them before they get the gun!
Three, you let them get the gun and shoot you. Pick one, and do it under
stress of the moment, with no time for second thoughts. Unless you have
ever been in this kind of stress situation, you have no business passing
judgment.

A person I know who clerks at ** that ** Smitty's store commented that
Smitty's has an un-official policy of paying a bonus to employees who catch
shoplifters and fake check artists. She said that the bag-boys at the store
look with much gleeful anticipation for occasions to "sack" a shoplifter.
I agree with the self defense idea, but I get this visual image of some
frail little old grandma or grandpa getting slammed to the floor and
hog-tied by five or six husky high-school football players after absent
mindedly dropping a 69 cent item into a pocket.
I would hate to be mistakenly identified as a miscreant at a store with that
kind of policy.

Just got back from a 10 day vacation in San Diego. Couldn't believe all the
natives running around fainting with the heat. It got up to 83 one day last
week.
Spent a week at the National Model A Ford convention. Thats close to heaven
for an old codger like me.
Saw a sign in one car window:
THIS IS YOUR BRAIN
(FORD LOGO)
THIS IS YOUR BRAIN
ON DRUGS
(CHEVY LOGO)

Wow! Congratulations to her too, I guess. Is she still living in state?
And what do you mean by "one of many"? One of the many of her husband's
wives? Geez, I hope not.

Well, it's obvious that there aren't any really good movies out so far. I
would like to see "Too Beautiful for You" before it leaves Arcadia 8 but I
only saw two movies on that list and barely liked one of them. I might see
Dick Tracy eventually. The best bet this summer is the video stores.

Re: "My feelings are between the old rock and hard place."
I think I feel the same way. The guy was a crook and deserved to be
prosecuted, but death is a bit too much. Unfortunately the guy was black.
I think the same thing could have happened if he would have been white
instead. If he would have been white, No one would have said a thing about
it. No one except maybe E. J. Montini?

Are you saying the death was not accidental? How do you know? Or are you
just guessing? Are you listening to the facts or gossip?

Re: "I will just say that I believe that religion in general has caused and
is still causing damage to this world."
I think most of what you call religion that is causing damage to the world
is a fake or artificial religion. True religion that was taught by Jesus is
typified in his famous "Love your neighbor as yourself." This action
never hurt anyone.

he ever quits.

No, actually she ran away with a South African Pigmy tribe. She is happy
and the baby came out quick. I think she named it "Abdulla" or something to
that effect.

Yes, and we ripped up an old pettie coat for bandages. We sterialized the
instruments. But now my harmonica won't make a sound, not to mention my
guitar.
