Yes, Tyson is protesting the 8th round knockdown of Douglas, and 2 of the 3
boxing federations have held up the title. I have also heard Tyson branded a
sore loser by some in the profession. Maybe they are building up to a big
bucks rematch. I think I'll go back to pro wrestling. At least we KNOW what
that is!

Goodbye Promise! So long Fleischmann's! No more Nucoa! It's back to the
dairy for me! YUCK!
If we only knew what we put into our systems when we eat some of this
prepared "food" we would probably all turn into do-it-yourself vegetarians.

Would you please quote me chapter and verse that says the world is 6-10
thousand years old? The gap between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 leaves plenty of
room for a few million years, at least. Of course, I think we may be reading
different Bibles.

Sorry, Paul, but Genesis 1 doesn't allow for any gaps. It's 6 days. Read
it carefully.

More like: Laws to protect people from themselves. That is not right.
Laws should be to protect people from the bad intentions of others, not to
protect people from themselves. For instance, what is the sense of making
suicide illegal? It is their life to take.
Many of you seem to not be able to handle the fact that people are ultimatly
responsible for their own actions, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
As long as they harm no one else, then it is their business, not yours.

Those picketing are doing so to deny the rights of another. To impose their
will.
The person using drugs is doing so to exercise his ultimate right to do what
he wants as long as it doesn't hurt others.
Can you compare the two?

I have to disagree. People DO do things they wouldn't do if straight while
on drugs or booze. And they may regret them later. I am not saying that
drugs cause them to "be bad" but if they already have an idea of what they
want and are afraid to play it out, taking drugs or drinking to releave the
anxiety is very common. I mean, if you want to ask some one
out and are a bit nervous and take a hit or drink, it may help you relax.
But if you're a government employee and wish all the people in your office
would be ripped apart by a AK47, and you do a little acid or PCP, there's
another story.
The key here I think is can one use drugs responsiblly and I think the
answer for some people sometimes is no. We just don't have a test to really
allow anyone to know who is going to abuse substances. If we did, I don't
think we'd have such a problem about legalizing drugs. Drugs in and of
themselves are not bad. And even using drugs is not "bad". It's abusing
them that gets one in trouble.

Hi Mike. I'm fine. Would "common sense" be more fitting in place of
"intelligence?"

Sorry, to say one is intelligent and uses drugs.... seems to
contradict itself. To blame society because people are not able to be
responsible for their actions sounds like an R.W. cop out .
This does not mean that sometimes good people don't get trapped into
bad situations.

Certainly intelligent people use drugs. I think that people can use most
drugs casually as they do alcohol and cigarettes.

Where's the contradiction between being intelligent and using drugs?
Even intelligent people want to find out what drugs are like; even
intelligent people want to feel relaxed or high; even intelligent people
sometimes try to escape from reality. There is more than one reason to use
drugs, and there are foolish and safe ways and places to use them, with
degrees inbetween. Why is this so difficult to understand?

gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves."

You don't think that a criminal is guilty, but rather, society as a
whole is guilty?
So who do we punish?
By the way, you should meet Rod Williams sometime. I'm sure you'd have

Re: "If you look at your previous post you claim you can demonstrate that I
use "mind gymnastics" and I'm calling you on it."
Roger, you impress me as being a reasonably intelligent person, but your
recent comments on "mind gymnastics" lead me to believe you are playing
stupid with me. You are the one who originally accused me of "mind
gymnastics." I did not accuse you, ever! I have gone back and retrieved
our messages beginning with your 63244 where you first used the phrase "mind
gymnastics".
RM> You are so used to the mind-gymnastics required by your belief in an
inerrant bible, that you can't see a simple fact.
I responded.
BT> Why don't you point out why you think the Bible is so full of errors
that I must resort to mind-gymnastics to believe it.
You responded.
RM> All right, Bob, give me an example of mind-gymnastics that is required
by my belief in reality.
I responded.
BT> Gee Roger, isn't that the almost the same question I just ask you? You
the one who accused me of "mind-gymnastics" in the first place, because I
believe the Bible.
The record is here on Apollo for all to see. You are the one who said, "You
are so used to the mind-gymnastics required by your belief in an inerrant
bible, that you can't see a simple fact." Either back up your accusation
with facts or withdraw your accusation.

So, suicide does not affect anyone but the one committing it? What about
those whom the suicidal person knows? Feelings of emptiness, loneliness,
guilt, confusion...deep emotional and mental scars.

Then maybe it is best that drugs stay illegal then. If the
intelligent people will use drugs, we don't stand a chance to have a sober
civilization. The only reason I thought that drugs should be made legal has
been defeated then. So be it...I change my mind... Pass the laws to
protect the people from them selves. I am against drugs since intelligent
people are stupid.
I am going to ZAP the ote question...since everyone must have
lied. Null and Void!
