The December issue of American Rifleman includes an article entitled: 'The
P-85 One Year Later'. It is a follow-up on an article done on the new Ruger
P-85 Double-Action 9mm pistol last year when it was introduced.
It says that the P-85 is being produced in Prescott, Arizona in a small
pilot factory, while a twenty times larger facility is being readied nearby
for use beginning in mid 1989. Ruger intended to bring the P-85 out with a
suggested retail price of $295.00, but the pilot factory has never been able
to catch up with back orders. They are currently trying to fill existing
police and civilian orders while also producing the military version for
U.S. Army evaluation tests. The Army will place an order for 142,292 of the
pistols which win the competition.

The P-85 has been refined considerably since the first versions in order
to improve accuracy. The original guns were designed for military use and
accordingly they stressed function and reliability above all else. While
their accuracy was fine for military purposes it suffered in comparison to
Ruger's other handguns and as a result a number of changes have been made.
The barrel and locking block are now manufactured as an integral unit
instead of welded together and the slide is now machined in a way that
causes the barrel to return to the exact same position after each shot.
These and other changes have resulted in a 30% improvement in accuracy
according to independent tests on randomly selected specimens. The article
also mentions torture tests that have been made, such as firing the gun with
a plug in the barrel (only the extractor needed replacement afterward) and
firing thousands of rounds through guns with much of the slide cut away.
Safety and reliability are excellent. The article ends by saying that if the
Army does not choose the P-85 it will just mean 142,292 more P-85s for the
rest of us.
   See You Later

There is no drug associated with saying no to drugs. Unless you snort
cocaine, drano or pop pills....then you are taking drugs. Of course,
saying No to drugs while swishing through the air would have no meaning
and could be quite loud.

If you are able, try bringing your 4 fingers (leaving the thumb aside)
rapidly back and forth to the palm of your hand (whichever SINGULAR hand
you wish to use) and you will hear the sound of one hand clapping.

What sound is the color Blue ?

No, Dave, we (at least I didn't) did not miss the context of your message,
rather it was unclear and certainly murky on the issue.
If you had stated your first message like your last one, I would have
cast aside doubts of your meaning.

Yes it is a sensational story - but they treated it as if it was common
practice now for priests to do that. I'm sure that the millions of Catholics
that watched that show were cringing in their seats - ready to change their
religion until Barbara Walters finally said the percentage at the end.

SInce you were genuinely interested in hearing my views on religion I'll
leave you with some of my thoughts on it.
First of all, anything that is considered SIN by the readers of the bible
does not necessarily make it SIN in God's eyes. For example; "THOU SHALT
NOT KILL" -readers would sometimes say this included killing of anything.
Trouble is, you kill millions of bacteria a day just by being alive.
That's an extreeme situation. A more moderate and up to date situation is
with Abortion. You see, Moses's people *WANTED* laws to go by from God.
God said he didn't want to give them any absolutes because he knew we
couldn't follow them...we'd eventually break most or all of them.
As a Christian in faith and practice, I really don't want to say it is
O.k. to swear etc. The bible tells us that we will be held accountable for
every idle word spoken or thought. I doubt that if I walked around all day
saying "Shit" will send me to hell. If I do, well, I'm sure God has
something to say about it when the time comes. Being a Christian in the
olde days must have been tough. A lot of people were REAL prudes. Taking
into consideration that people JUDGED one another more than they read and
interpreted the bible is probably one reason why such things became
BLASPHEMY. We're all human beings, subject to greed, selfishness,
vanity, pride and all the rest...Christian or not. When you become a
Christian you should by all means pay attention to the feelings of others
because not only has your whole outlook changed, but so has your heart
and feelings toward others. It might have been easy to really hurt
in the past for you, but once you accept Christs gift of eternal life
and accept his guidance into your heart you change! Hard to describe at
best..but you start to change your attitudes, the way you see things and
being able to discern the difference between what is really right and
what is definitely wrong. This isn't easy to act upon though. The human
side of things (body, etc) may REALLY WANT what your heart knows is wrong.
After accepting Christ, I found it very difficult to ignore problems dealing
with my interactions with people at school. It's almost like suddenly
seeing what really happened if you weren't there to see it before.
So, as a Christian...you try your best..sometimes you don't. Sometimes the
little grump inside says ;"Screw the rest, today is *MINE!*". or something
like that. Hey, that's human... Jesus knows what it is like to be trapped
inside of this body and he knows how easy it is to give into temptations
and pressures. That's what separates us from eternal doom,..because the
Father sees us through his son. We're weak, fragile and exceptionally
dishonest with mostly ourselves. God doesn't punish people...people
punish people. He just lays out what he knows will keep you out of trouble.
....but do we follow his lead ? Nah! Not always. Just like the infant or
child who knows something is wrong and does it anyway. Then we get hurt
and WHAAHH! Pity is though, some blame it on God! Like Rod, they get
angry at him for hurting them or others because they know that he's supposed
to protect them..but they forget that God laid it on the line in the
first place and gave us each and everyone, FREE WILL. -Mike

I have an Aunt who believes that if you keep swearing, don't go to Church
and don't tithe...you're going to HELL! Sure, a lot of scriptures can be
twisted into meanings that mighg support that idea. But knowing Jesus
and having a personal relationship inside with him, I know better.
Turning the other cheek means a lot more than offering the other side to
be slapped. It also does not mean be a fool and allow it to be slapped
without avoiding it in the first place. Imagine a creator who made a
wonderful universe and even more wonderful all the things within it...
condemning his children into hell because they refused to stand up....
mind boggling at best...but a lot of people on this board still believe
that. Yes, being a Christian means "to be Christ-like.." in a literal
translation. Every Christian knows its impossible to be just like Jesus
or for that matter, even the most saintly, sinless whitest white person
on this earth is like soiled garbage in God's eyes. Good thing we're not
living in the Old testament days. God does no longer see us like that,
he sees us through his son's blood and eternal forgiveness. All one has to
do, as simple as it is, is to allow your mind to clear and in honest
sincerity, ask Christ to come into your life and save you. It's been
likened to openening a door and letting that salesman say a few words...
giving him the chance to see if you need what he's selling.....but Jesus
isn't selling anything. He's giving away, free of charge or hooks, second
clauses or no-backout allowances or fine print, the gift of eternal
forgiveness and salvation. So I took the few moments aside from my scheeming
and asked quietly if there really is a God, to please help and come into....
my life and see what we might see. Simple, honest and really I had nothing
to lose by stopping for one moment and putting aside all the hearsay,
prejudices and side-tracks to find out FOR MYSELF if what the
Christians in those days was true, or if it was a whole tub of Eye-wash.
The only real answers I have got in life are those that I ask myself
without predjudice and in sincerity. SOmetimes you just have to stop
and shut the door on the world for a moment and figure it out for yourself.

Atheists rely on the fact that you will not find anything. SInce they
obviously haven't tried it themselves, they rely on numbers and making
fun of those who have. Some will go as far as to claim they tried it
and will say nothing's there. What I asked myself was that am I going
to allow someone else to taste my food and tell me it's sour when
I might like it ? Kinda like letting someone make my descisions for me.
So, the Morley bomber, the kid with the 6 zip-guns, pipe-bomb letter-box
demolisher and hater of everyone better off than himself took a few seonds
to find out if there really was a God.

Now that I have found God it's easy to see why it seemed so hard to do in
the first place. Like a group of people born in a place suddenly finding
out that the box they lived in was a tiny puddle in an ocean...but believing
once before with "proof" that's all there was.
Well, that's just the tip of the ice-planet.

Wow! You missed your calling - you ought to be a preacher or minister! No
joke intended! Those were to the point and easy to understand. I enjoy
talking to someone about religion without them loosing their head and get
all fired up with 'Hell and Damnation'!
Yes - the old day's religions were harsh expecially the Catholic faith which
believed that if you missed a Sunday and didn't confess it before you died,
you'd go stright to hell! Of course, it did have merit - you DID go to
church! Ha.
One thing I did want to discuss - something I am foggy on. It's Jesus's
manhood! I know He was supposed to be God and man etc. - but if He was truly
man with all the temptations that come with it and He OVER came them - would
He really be different than the rest of us in that aspect? Maybe He knew
more than we do but would that make a difference? In other words - if He was
any different than us - wouldn't the point of Him being here in the first
place be wasted then? So I'm saying - arn't we as capable in our manhood to
be, do and act in all ways as He did? Isn't it expected of us if we believe?
Did He not say that we had any capability that He did? Also, wouldn't He,
being man, fight hatred, jealously, anger, lust, etc.etc.just as we do? If
He over came - are we to do less? See what I mean? -=*) ANN (*=-

Mike, why do you suppose the Bible is so screwed up and can be
literally taken in so many thousands of ways? There are hundreds of
Christian sects in the world and each sect is sure that their way is the
correct one and that the other religions memebers will go to hell.
Since each sect is so sure that they are right, wouldn't it be
conceivable that only one sect is correct and all of the rest are just
agnostical. In other words, since they all cannot be correct, yet think
they are, 99 per cent really do not know for sure, therefore they are
agnostic.

I was a Christian for quite a few years. I named my first child,
Christian Angelica. I was so sure of being a Christian. I have read and
re-read the Christian Bible as well as many others. It is pretty confusing.

In the Christian Bible, swearing is mentioned in the context that
"Thou shall not swear by Heaven for it is God's Throne, nor by Earth for it
is His Footstool, nor by Jesureluem for it his Holy City, nor by thy head
for we can't make one hair white or black (dye), but simply say, Yea, yea,
or Nay, nay. THAT'S IT.

In all honestly, I am probably the person closest to being like
Jesus that you have ever met.
