I don't know why the keen interest in the RGB SIG has everyone
wanting in. Right now I have Rod trapped in there and we are arguing
religion. RGB stands for "Rod, God & Bob". (I thought everyone knew that)
I suppose if you really want in, I can add it to your profile, but
understand that Rod uses some pretty strong languge in a very crude way.
If you call that "Elite" then you have a funny idea of what to be "Elite"
is. Personaly I prefer the CHRistan SIG, the Christians there are much more
civil, and I find it a warm and friendly place.

The memoranda of the National Security Council and other
government documents in subsequent years often closely follow
the recommendations of the wartime planners, not
surprisingly, since the same interests were represented,
often the same people. They also accord with Kennan's
principles. For example, NSC 48/1 in December 1949 states
that "While scrupulously avoiding assumption of
responsibility for raising Asiatic living standards, it is to
the U.S. interest to promote the ability of these countries
to maintain...the economic conditions prerequisite to
political stability." Thus in accordance with Kennan's
precepts, we should not be "hampered by idealistic slogans"
about "the raising of the living standards," though economic
aid may be in order when we have something to gain by it.
It is not, of course, proposed that we should assist - or
even permit - the nationalist movement of Vietnam to achieve
economic health and political stability; on the contrary, a
State Department Policy Statement of September 1948 had
explained that it is "an unpleasant fact" that "Communist
Ho Chi Minh is the strongest and perhaps the ablest figure in
Indochina and that any suggested solution which excludes him
is an expedient of uncertain outcome," a serious problem,
since plainly we must seek to exclude him in pursuit of the
Fifth Freedom. Political stability under his leadership was
not what was contemplated. Rather, "stability" is a code
word for obedience. Those familiar with the peculiar
terminology of US ideological discourse will understand that
it is no contradiction when James Chase, editor of *Foreign
Affairs*, cites "our efforts to destabilize a freely elected
Marxist government in Chile" as an illustration of the
efforts of Nixon-Kissinger *Realpolitik* "to seek
stability." Destabilization in the interest of stability
makes perfect sense in the age of Orwell. The problem, when
noted, is placed under the rubric of "irony" in mainstream
commentary, including much scholarship.
NSC 48/1 proceeds to develop the conventional explanation
found in secret documents of the period for US participation
in the French war against Indochina, then the US takeover of
that war. The reasoning, which extends directly to Latin
America, merits attention. Despite references by Eisenhower
and others to Vietnam's resources, Indochina was not of major
concern in itself. Rather, its importance derives from the
context of the domino theory. This theory has two versions.
One, invoked when there is a need to frighten the public,
warns that if we don't stop them there, they'll land in
California and take all we have. As expressed by President
Lyndon Johnson at the height of US aggression in Vietnam:
There are 3 billion people in the world and we have only
200 million of them. We are outnumbered 15 to one. If
might did make right they would sweep over the United
States and take what we have. We have what they want.
"If we are going to have visits from any aggressors or any
enemies," Johnson said in a speech in Alaska, "I would rather
have that aggression take place out 10,000 miles from here
than take place here in Anchorage." referring to the
aggression of the Vietnamese against US forces in Vietnam.
Therefore, as he had warned 20 years earlier, we must
maintain our military strength, particularly air power:
"without superior air power America is a bound and throttled
giant; impotent and easy prey to any yellow dwarf with a
pocket knife."
The sense that we will be "a pitiful, helpless giant"
unless we act forthrightly in defense against the overwhelming
power of our Third World adversaries, in the terms used later
by President Nixon in announcing the invasion of Cambodia, is
a common refrain in US political discourse, reminiscent of a
rich and spoiled child who whines that he does not have
*everything* - though to render the image more accurate, we
should place a squadron of storm troopers at the child's
command.

thought, as the weak and mindless fall all over each other trying to get
access to it.
It's a cheap theatrical trick, but it works. As a member of the RGB sig, I
vote to keep Chris Neal out.

First fact with all kidding aside.... The RGB SIG is not of my creation!
It was thought up by SANDY SYSOP! It was her idea alone! You guys have
been asking the wrong person for access....
And the only members are: Rod Williams, James Hawley, Nick Ianuzzi, Sandy
and of course...myself. We are posting Bible verses on there and talking
God's word.... Rod on the other hand (and James) are posting opposit views
and some of them are rather profane. I find this typical of so many
atheists who claim to want brotherhood and love, but instead show hate.

I see where the Navajo "Nation" will begin issuing their own tribal license
plates. This is not intended as as being critical of the Navajo, but has
anyone else noticed the inclusion of the religious motto on the plates?
In the final ceremony of the Navajo "Blessing Way" I understand that the
participants are sworn to "Walk in Beauty" i.e. harmony, with the creator
and his earth. Surely some atheist Navajo or Hopi will immediately take up
the good fight and attempt to have this religious motto removed from the
tribal license plates.

This version of the domino theory is undoubtedly believed
at some level of consciousness, and expresses in a vulgar way
the concerns over maintaining the "disparity" outlined in
more sophisticated terms by Kennan at the time when Lyndon
Johnson was voicing his fears about the "yellow dwarves."
This crude domino theory is, however, regularly dismissed
with scorn if things go sour and policy must be revised. But
there is also a rational version of the domino theory, the
operative version, which is rarely questioned and has
considerable plausibility; adopting the terminology of the
planners, we might call it the "rotten apple theory." The
rotten apple theory was outlined by Dean Acheson when he
concocted a remarkable series of fabrications concerning
alleged Soviet pressure on Greece, Turkey and Iran in
February 1947 in a successful effort to convince reluctant
congressional leaders to support the Truman Doctrine, an
incident that he cites with much pride in his memoirs; "Like
apples in a barrel infected by one rotten one, the corruption
of Greece would infect Iran and all to the east" and would
"carry infection" to Asia Minor, Egypt and Africa, as well as
Italy and France, which were "threatened" by Communist
participation in democratic politics. This adroit and
cynical invocation of a fabricated "Russian threat" to
prepare the way for measures to prevent "infection" from
spreading has been imitated with great efficacy since.
The prime concern throughout is that if there is one rotten
apple in the barrel, then "the rot will spread," namely, the
"rot" of successful social and economic development of a form
that would constrain the Fifth Freedom. This might have a
demonstration effect. To cite another case, Kissinger's
aides recall that he was far more concerned over Allende in
Chile than over Castro because "Allende was a living example
of democratic social reform in Latin America," and Allende's
success within the democratic process might cause Latin
America to become "unraveled" with effects as far as Europe,
where Eurocommunism, operating within parliamentary
democracy, "scared him" no less. Allende's success would
send the wrong message to Italian voters, Kissinger feared.
The "contagious example" of Chile would "infect" not only
Latin America but also southern Europe, Kissinger stated,
using the conventional imagery. Soon, we might find that the
Grand Area is beginning to erode.
These concerns are persistent. The CIA warned in 1964 that
"Cuba's experiment with almost total state socialism is
being watched closely by other nations in the hemisphere and
any appearance of success there would have an extensive
impact on the statist trend elsewhere in the area," to the
detriment of the Fifth Freedom. Hence the appearance of
success must be aborted by a major terrorist war including
repeated attempts to assassinate Castro, bombing of
petrochemical and other installations, sinking of fishing
boats, shelling of hotels, crop and livestock poisoning,
destruction of civilian airlines in flight, etc.

Rod is lost and sounds like he is never coming back. His few posts
on this sig shows the hate, with swearing and foul mouthed insults. Rod may
wish to be treated like that... But I do NOT! At one time when he talked on
here in civial talk, I liked the guy even though he did not believe in God
and Jesus Christ. But over the past few years I have seen his inner anger
eat away at him where it is difficult for him to post a cival message worthy
of reading. They do not contain any worth while arguments, just insults,
and verbal abuse.
If Rod believed in Jesus and followed the Bibles teachings, I don't
think you would find a better, or more gentle person than he.
Let us pray for Rod's lost soul. It's in God's hands now..
The Mighty Apollo SYSOP is powerless to save Rod, and I have tried and
failed.

Cliff, in order to understand what Rod is trying to say, you have to force
yourself to ignore his blasphemous rantings and look at the big picture. The
kind of peaceful coexistance that Rod envisions was the root of the movement
of the '60s, and I'm rather surprised that you don't seem to have a clearer
recollection of that decade. Rod believes that a loving and just god would
not allow the suffering that takes place on this planet, and he further
believes that religion is a sort of drug for the masses. While I
wholeheartedly agree with him on the first point, I have some trouble with
the religious brainwashing aspect of his arguments. Rod apparently does not
see the correlation between a religious life and the harmonious world he
wishes to live in. The flaw in his reasoning is the false assumption that
all church activities and social involvements are necessarily religious in
nature, when in fact much of what a church does does not involve worshiping
God.

I go to a local Church here in Phoenix for FUN... There are events
that the word God is never mentioned. I know our boys love going to all the
things like camping trips, outings and AWANA. They even like Sunday School,
and we do NOT make them go... They do it on their oun because they have FUN!
The people there are friendly, and are trying to make a better world.
Now comes Rod, with his verbal abuse that maybe I can't see the
message he is sending, because all I see is anger and hate. I do remember
the 60's very well.... We were anti WAR, not anti Bible!
Yes, God could force his will on us, and yes this place could be a
FUN world...but we would learn NOTHING! I think we are here to learn about
Bad as well as good... and God did give us FREE WILL! Rod would rather we
all be robots without the ability of free thought and ideas. I have nothing
against Rod's thought that there is no God.... he has that right! But he
gets angry when the people around him wish to believe in God. Rod does not
understand that is their RIGHT as well. So, how does Rod counter it, he
swears, gets abusive with other peoples beliefs. With people like Rod,
there could NEVER be true peace and brother hood in the world.
Rod takes exagerations of Bible teachings and Churches and makes
that sound like the norm for Christians. But in truth, Rod does not know
what a Normal middle of the road Christian thinks or feels.
Rod took a wrong turn somewhere along the road of life. For that
I am sorry, and will pray for his forgiveness that only God can do.
If Rod wants a better world, then he should act like it!

My hate has consumed my mind so much that all I do is hide in my
closet and babble. I keep my computer system in there and I have cut a 11
inch by 4 inch hole near the bottom of the door so that Jasmine can slip me
food. Man, all this hate has eaten me up.
For the next chapter of my continued story please listen to John

I am fairly tired this evening. One of my auto lot clients left his
entire key board outside over the weekend and needless to say some Christian
took them. I was there for eight hours today and in that period I made 39
separate keys, none of them being duplicates. I will go again tomorrow and
do some more. It's like I am in space city.
Cliff, the manner in which you interpit my messages leaves me to
believe that it must be you who is consumed in hate. Why must I feel hate
when I say something like fuck god? I don't understand. I am smiling now
and there isn't a living thing that I hate. I feel a strong kinship for
others. I always say, look to the accuser.
You have accused many a user of this system over the past years of
"their hatred". You have done this to Alan Hamilton among others. I know
Alan and he is the last person who would have hatred for anyone or anything.
He is a gently soul. It is you reading this into other peoples messages
because basically hatred is someting very near to you. But it does not come
from me. I am a fairly happy go lucky person and I get along in person with
Christian, Jews, blacks and, if you believe this, even them WOPS.
So, my friend look to yourself or if I am wrong, learn to interpit.
