I figured the multiple "Logbooks" you were buying were not really for these
"friends" that you had. I needed the money to expand the system, and you
didn't really abuse them, so I let it go. None of the votes were very
important, at least not while I still had control, anyway.
Yeah, I remember Craig White now. I guess the name "White" just bugs me,
that's all. (You know why)
You can blame Dean for the mess where the system wouldn't recognize a loss
of carrier. His host program was supposed to send a [CR] when the modem
dropped carrier, where my program would catch it and reset. It worked fine
99% of the time, but there were times, like the one you mentioned, where it
turned out funny results.

1:Actually I purchased status for my friends whom I had hoped would join in
2:but it didn't work out. Holly Scott was for my wife and Mark Nebenfuhr was,
3:at the time, the only friend I could discuss 'far out reality' with. He
4:actually entered a few messages but I could never get my wife to log on. I
5:didn't buy them to abuse them but as it turned out I had a little fun with
6:the names.
7:I was all by myself during that period because I did not know a single
8:person with a computer so I had to go it alone. I had no buffer, no auto
9:dialer, no spell checker, just a C-64 and a 300 Baud modem.

The first I heard of a GT was after the fact also. Are there now different
levels of $tatus users on Apollo, or what?
Not that I could have made it, since I have other commitments on Sunday
evenings, but it would have been nice to at least see one public
announcement beforehand, or I agree with Jeannie. Keep it to yourselves.

If the "GT" was a private party, then how come the rather high-handed post
from you as to "where those of us who didn't make it were", or words to that
effect?

Paul, I see the same inconsistency with the GT. It was evidently
promulgated among a select group of Apollo users. Then when those who never
heard about it don't show up we're chided for lack of interest. Maybe its
like one of those esoteric cults. The initiates are the outer ring
(non-status users) Then there is the inner ring (status users) and then
there are rings within that, and the only way the seeker finds out is
after he is "initiated" into one.

'For those of you who were not there, ask yourself why' was my line.
Not "where those of us who didn't make it were" as Paul wrongly posted.
There was nothing "high-handed" ment by that post as Paul thinks. How ever,
there are some very good reasons as to "WHY"....
I am very sorry if anyone feels hurt...but I assure you, there is no reason
to feel that way. So.... anyone want a PUBlic GT? Have at it guys and
gals..... Paul, pick a date and a place. (Not my house now)
(Maybe this will stimulate you into a bigger and better GT????)

Yes, Paul, there are three levels of status; the good, the bad, and the
ugly. I think you are in the latter category. (smile)

ASTROLOGER REPLIES -- By Clarence Petersen, Chicago Tribune
CHICAGO -- Laurie Brady, who bills herself as Chicago's "Astrologer to
the Stars," offered these comments on Andrew Fraknoi's Sky & Telescope
article, which is critical of astrology:
"Of course, we know all these things, but we know the basic
things that were going on: The three Magi were astrologers, because
they said they were following the stars, and you know you can't follow
the stars in the sky.
"They were following the stars on a piece of paper, and they
knew a Messiah had come and they knew exactly where to find him. The
three Magi were astrologers.
"I've gone through this so many times, and my answer to all of
this is that the widest-read feature in the newspaper is the astrology
column, even more so than the funnies. Everyone, even people who
don't believe in astrology, knows what their sun sign is.
"You know, I have been on radio shows, television shows. I was
once on David Susskind's show with all these scientists, and none of
them knew how to make (an astrological) chart. I said, 'You know
nothing about astrology; how can you argue with me? I'm a
professional.' "
(NOTE: What an interesting answer. -Rod)
