I think that JT is about the only person NOT on this SIG. Perhaps he didn't
like Ann's drawings.

I will be having a Guilty Party at my house this weekend. All guilty
parties are invited. However, I must warn you, it will probably be dull,
dull, dull. I will not be attending, and I doubt anyone else will come.
That's this weekend at my place, be there.

I enjoy quite a bit of science fiction, and some fantasy. I just
finished readint Seventh Son by Orson Scott Card. Very good. Necromancer
sounds interesting. I'm not familiar with the author though.
Just remember, milk it does a body good.

The situation you describe is an oligopoly. All the prices tend to follow
one or several of the largest companies. However, there's nothing wrong
with this -- they can't set prices at whatever they want. A text book
example of an oligopoly is the cigarette industry. When the major companies
did try to raise prices above market levels, they opened the door for new
companies -- and, in fact, several of the big companies around today got
their start in the 30's when that happened.
I'd be more coherent if it wasn't 4 am.

That's it. And if you're really interested in going, the airfare last year
was about $700 round trip. (I'm assuming that is for economy class.)

And before anyone one goes on about Reagan's tax cut: Thanks to healthy
deductions, no one in the top tax braket had to pay that rate. The actual
tax rate (tax rate - deductions) was much lower. Many of the deductions
required high investments to get, so they were only available to high-income
people. Million dollar horses, for example.
In fact, many corporations paid ZERO taxes, thanks to deductions.
A lot of these deductions have closed, but the tax rate fell, so the actual
tax rate paid by the rich has dropped a bit.

There's a mystery here - on the BB Gary Jones left a message right? Well, he
didn't appear on the users log either today or yesterday - he also hasn't
answered private mail I sent him 5 days or so ago? I even went back and
checked to see if I misspelled his name or something! I didn't. What's going
on? =*--ANN--*=

My post wasn't on the merits of a good septic tank system. It was to show
the ineptness of government workers and where our tax money is foolishly
being spent. I also pointed out that the new way was not an improvement over
the old. The new leeches into bedrock and the old, into sand. It was also
deeper. But then again, they change these laws monthly! Stay tuned for more
on septic tanks in the future. =*--ANN--*=

I can't see where it's being so sensible to choose a candidate on past
experiance. We've been doing that for a long time and still end up with
'duds'! And what is so insane in choosing one because he's young? Maybe we
need some fresh, youthful ideas. We ought to choose with a 'Wheel of
fortune' type system - put all the candidates names on a wheel - spin it and
the one the arrow stops at their name - he's elected! We'll still get a dud,
but at least we can blame it on luck. =*--ANN--*=

Actually, the amount of taxes paid by the wealthiest taxpayers has gone up
considerably as a result of the Reagan tax cuts.

Taxes paid by people in the richer brackets has gone up.... My only
conclusion is that Elves can't read tax manuals or they can't comprehend
what they read. Sure there are some loop holes...but they are GREATLY
closed up, and getting smaller all the time. A-L-A-N and the like will
always believe what they wish.
I pay TAXes....do you?

Let me tell a story
About how capitalists bilk
Poor workers out of money
By giving them cow's milk
They say that milk's a natural
I say it's meant for calves
They want to use it to divide
The have-nots from the haves
I'd rather suck a woman's breast
Even if she's not too foxy
Than drink a quart or two of milk
And suck a cow's tit by proxy
But if you drink a glass of milk
You'll find out very quick
That all it does is make you hot
And make your blood too thick
That's why I've stopped eating milk
And eggs and bread and cheese
And vegetables and fruits and nuts
And steak and pork and trees
