I said, "I'm sure it took you a couple of days to notice it". I did not
say, "I know it took you a couple of days to find it because I was sitting
across the street with binoculars".
And Ann herself at the Tom Slone GT told me that her husband walked by it
all morning and asked her what it was and she didn't even go LOOK at it.

Ann, I admit that I find it rather funny that you had large 'thang' on your
lawn. But why suspect me because I find it funny? Everyone else are just
paid pawns of the MIGHTY Zak. I hear that he is giving them free videotapes
for their cooperation.
But there is always the possibility that it was someone else. Cliff and

Drug Legalization?
One I'd LOVE to see legalized is XTC (Ecstasy, Adam, etc..) -- this drug
is like none other I've heard about/seen/etc... I've heard that some
psychiatrists are trying to get it legalized for depressed people; it would
be great if it were legalized.. it makes you love everything/everyone!!!
Any drug that impairs a person I think should be either controlled in
some way or not legalized... Either the drug should enhance or forget it.
But problems arise there too, since not all drugs affect people the same
way.

That's utter nonsense. Have you ever studied ANY economics? The statement
"[the law of supply and demand] used to mean that if a product became
popular, the manufacturer would lower his prices because he was selling so
much of the product and making a nice profit" is laughable. You think
companies simply lowered their prices out of the kindness of their hearts?
The actual mechanism is that the high prices encourages entry into the
market, increasing the amount supplied (but lowering the amount supplied by
each company) and thus lowering the price. Note that the price is not
lowered by kindness, it is lowered because -- as Rod says -- they care about
your money. The second part of your message -- "Now it means that if it's
popular, the prices are inflated to make wind fall profits" is equally
silly. In the first place, windfall profits refer to profits unrelated to
the company's actions (such as the Arabs jacking up prices -- windfall, get
it?) But aside from that, companies will always try to get the highest
price they can. And customers will get the lowest price they can. If the
price is high enough to result in economic profits, new firms will enter.
The beauty of the price system is that all of this information is conveyed
efficiently. We don't need companies acting generously; quite the contrary,
we need as many companies acting as selfishly as possible. However, that
selfish action should not extend to blocking entry into the market place
with coercion -- and the prime instrument of coercion is government. In
this century, it has become the instrument of choice by big business to keep
out competitors.
So stop your blathering about "selfish big business."

Re: the subject of supply and demand - you can call it blathering if you
wish, but I remember a time when that was the norm. A new product started
out high in price - when it sold very well, the price went down
considerably. That is not the norm now and will probably not be again. There
was also a time when the big businesses DID consider their customers as
humans and not just another buck. Today, a few small businesses run that
way, but they are very few. You can spout off about economics all you want
and there is no doubt you are an expert - but times have changed. I assume
that big businesses can't afford to be too generous in today's market! But
they sure as hell could be a little more human.
By the way - surely you see the trend of small business becoming a thing of
the past?! In your life time, we could become only big corporations. They
are eating us alive. =*--ANN--*=

As for your assertion that prices are initially high and then decrease as
demand rises, the only area that is seen in is technology. The first VCRs
cost $2000, but as technology advanced and people bought more the price has
come down considerably. Is that what you meant?

Actually those statistics you mention about drinking being good for
you was sponsored by the liquor industry as thier sales have been slumping
over the past few years.
The milk industry does the same thing. Many doctors know that
cheese and milk products are bad for good health but fighting a powerful
industry is not easy and costs are enourmous.
The red meat industry is also guilty. I wouldn't be surprized to
hear in the coming months that cow flesh prevents acatillius. (Actually the
disease I mentioned hasn't been invented but give it time).

... money goes!
My husband is building a house in New River. He took the plans that he
drew up for the septic system to the county. The woman behind the desk
looked at them and told him they couldn't be used and they had to be
engineered! She said the hole for the tank had to be 6ft. X 6ft. by 10
feet deep and then had to be inspected and engineered! Two men (6 weeks
later!) came out to inspect the hole. When they drove up, they stood at
the truck a long time and my husband went up to see what was going on -
found out they were arguing about who was going to take Polaroid
pictures and who was going to measure the hole! They finally decided
and went to inspect the hole. One guy took four pictures of it while
the other guy measured it. This took about 45 minutes and then they
started to leave. My husband ask them about the leech field (they were
supposed to tell him how long and deep - this is the engineering of
it??) They said they didn't do that part of it. My husband ask what
they did do and they replied 'Inspect the holes'! I cannot print on the
BB what my husband's reply to that was! He also ask if they were at
least going to pass the inspection on the hole - they didn't because
one guy said "they weren't sure it was right!" After they left, my
husband made a call to the county and another engineer came out the
next day - and another one the next day - for 6 days. The last one told
him they were using a different method now and he had to re-do the
entire thing! These guys make over $30,000 a year and we pay for it!

If the people who complained about government and big business
(myself included) traded places, the situation would probably become worse.
At least the ones who are ripping us off have had years of experience and we
as rank amateurs would bungle the job and cause a quick economic collapse.
Doing a con job on the population requires finesse and a good formal
education helps.
The point I am trying to make is, people everywhere are basically
the same, same greed, same basic intelligence (ugh) level and the same
things would happen. We can only blame ourselves and not be angry at the
big business/government end of things.
We just, somehow must rise to a new level of intelligence but I
guess we are, that's evolution, hope it works.

Being constructive and compasionate doesn't cost a dime but it does
take a balanced personality. Some people do not learn these things in their
youth but will later on.
I think all should share the guilt of having a glitched world.
Either that or we can just blame our dead ancestors. But it is we who have
to make it better, we are the only modelers here, the dead are dead, we the
living are the only ones left and then we will become the dead and the
living can then blame us.
Earth COULD be such a nice neighborhood, too. Oh well as JT used to

Wanna learn something new this log on? It will help you all throughtout
your life, I'm being serious, but you know that.
To be successful in this world, in what you are doing, look for the
brother and sister in each person you make aquaintance with. It is ALWAYS
there, sometimes hard to find the key, but definately there.
Each and every person has intelligence in something, a special kind
of genius, if you will.
Learn something from Burkhart, he knows something you have not yet
learned, he is constructive and shows compassion. You may or may not be
more intelligent than he, but that does not matter, what matter is that you
take Will Rogers Course in dealing with people.
Ann is very hurt and for good reason, you maliciously hurt her
feelings and this makes you look bad in many peoples eyes, mine included.
You have very great potential but you are blowing it, you glee in
your advancements but the fall will come if you do not learn these important
