Where did you dig those so called FACTs up about children from
a scientific background being more sound than children of a minister?
State the source please.
My facts show me since we have gotten away from prayer in schools
and the teaching of God in schools, Morals have decayed to an all time low.
The best well mannered children have come from Private Christian Schools and
Home Type Schools when Christian programs are taught. If the Bible is
taught correctly, it will not come off as a fairy tale.
I agree that Santa and Peter Rabbit need to go, along with
things like Christmas trees (you always seem to have a tree Rod) and easter
eggs.

Cutting back system hours will cause you to lose several users. In the
summer, many new users log in at odd hours of the morning, so you'll likely
miss out on potential $tatus customers. I for one would find it difficult,
if not impossible, to log in if system hours are cut back to 10AM to 10PM.

I agree. Rod's posts are getting hard to handle, again.
No need to throw the baby out with the dirty bath water though. Apollo means
a lot of things to a lot of people. It would be less fair to all of us to
shut down the BBS to shut up one obnoxious user. There are alternatives.
Please consider them. God bless you and Sandy. You are in our prayers
always, and perform a very special service by maintaining this system.

I make statements such as the personal accountability for every word we
utter with the full realization that every time I point a finger at anyone I
have three more pointed back at myself. I do not set myself up as a standard
of Christianity, and never have. Jesus did that quite well, both during His
life and at Calvary. It is the only standard we need by which to measure
ourselves, with the knowledge that forgiveness for our shortcomings was
provided at the cross and is available for the asking.

We are entering one of those gray areas in which there is no clear cut black
or white answer, and, quite frankly, without meaning to be demeaning or
insulting, due to your lack of depth in spiritual matters, and your
shallowness of understanding in such areas, I would rather not pursue the
discussion, since for me to attempt to explain the workings and attributes
of God on a media such as this would lead to nothing more than even more
misunderstanding and confusion.
Knowing absolutely nothing about the injured boy, other than he disobeyed a
fundamental rule of safety, I am in no position to make any further
decision. However, much is known, and has been for years, concerning
Lippard's anti-Christian, anti-deist crusades. We are, therefore, in a
better position to make a value judgement in his case. Whether we are right
or wrong, however, is up to God, not us.

What does a 10-10 time do to those of us (like me) who log on early EVERY
morning? By 10AM my day is well under way, and I don't have time to get on
the computer, and I have far too many other things to do in the evenings.
Somewhere between 5-7 AM is the only time I have for BBSing. Please
reconsider those hours, and thanks.

I can see that will not work... A few main users have pointed out
that they would NOT be able to BBS with Apollo. I will have to shave less
to save electricity.
Back to the drawing board.... How about run Apollo at night from
10pm to 10 am?

I like the 10PM to 10 AM better because I too log on very early - once in a
while at 4:30AM! If the day is real slow on Apollo - then that's a good
idea. But if you do change the hours - I'm afraid you will loose some users

Good posts. Brings back my childhood clearly. I remember being devistated
when someone told me their was no Santa. I cried all day. I swore for years
that I had actually seen the Easter Bunny - ditto devistation when I found
out that was a lie. When I was a Catholic and was told all that they tell -
--- I went around for years monitoring all my thoughts for fear I'd commit a
mortal sin and end up in hell. Of course, I had 'bad' thoughts and was
constantly going to confession. I remember clearly a nun describing
Pergatory to our class - all the pain which was 100% worse than hell was
suppose to be and I laid awake many nights scared to death of going there
because I knew I was no 'angel'! Therefore, at a very young age, I was
already fearing death with a dread! It still shapes my life today in many
forms. The simplest thing I ever did was 'I quit believing in Hell and
Pergatory'! But it still leaves a mark. A child, I believe cannot comprehend
the real meaning behind Christianity - Jesus's death - the reserection etc.
etc. - they only consentrate on the seemingly 'bad' like hell, pain and
suffering. The Bible can read like a real horror story to young minds. I.E.
--- Jonah, Job, the plagues of Egypt, Jesus dying horribly on a piece of
wood and worst of all, Revelations! That could give adults nightmares! It
seems like all my life I've had a feeling that somehing was going to get me
- God, the devil, the second coming etc. etc. My mind now tells me
differently, but it's still vaguely there. This can't be good. Life should
be joyful, not apprehensive about something - not unknown, but 'unknowable'!

fronts being rented/leased to "fashion" clothing chains and such.

I usually call from work between 8am and 5pm and after work between 4pm
and midnight. I could live with 10pm to 10 am, but not very happily.
Actually I wouldn't like it much the other way either, since I don't always
have time to call from work.

Have you considered the possibility that you could be contributing to a
lack of activity by taking a side on issues, but then threatening to take
the system down in reaction to opposing opinion? I realize that that is not
what you mean, but it makes me reluctant to even argue with someone else on
an issue that I know you would agree with them on.
As I have said before, I enjoy Apollo and the friends I have met through
it and would miss it.

How about from 10 am to 10 pm on even numbered days then from 10 pm
to 10 am on odd numbered days. Unless of course the 10am to 10 pm falls on
the first friday of the month then you should reverse it. Of course on days
when the moon is full you could put the system up from 6am to 6pm unless of
course the moon wasn't in Cancer so in that case, it could be from 6pm to 6
am. But if Venus is rising then I think that from 3pm to 3am would be
better suited unless of course it is an odd numbered day then it could be
from 3am to 3 pm. But if it is raining then noon to midnight would be good
although if there is lightening in the air, from midnight to noon. I'm sure
we can work this out. -Rod

Cliff, I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
I remember the days when prayer was mandatory in public schools. I
started school in 1948 and finished in 1956. Those were some pretty
lawless times. Nation was warring against nation. The whole bloody
world was at war when I was a kid. Civil Defense was quite a big thing
in those days right along with bank robbery and murder. We played fun
games in school. Quite often we got to play duck and cover. We were
well schooled in staying away from windows when the nuclear devices
exploded. We knew we only had seconds to hide if we saw a big flash.
Of course we were taught, as all good children are, that God was on
our side and that everything would be okay. Instead of crack in those
days, the people just had alcohol and heroin. They used these substances
in great quantity, especially the former. Morals are not at a all time
low, there are just more people and communications are better.
The people who are now running this system are from the age when
prayer was in school. It seems like they consentrated more or religion
than on good common, scientific, sense.

And how does one go about "teaching the bible correctly" as you say?
Do we tell the little children that all they must do is believe that
Jesus was the son of the entity that created everything and that we must
believe in Him in order to gain eternal life in a place called Heaven?
All others go to hell? Damage their little brains, eh.
Wouldn't it be better to teach the little ones that we are on a
delicate ball of matter and that each of us are brother and sister? You
can tell a thinking child that, "Thou shall not steal", is correct but when
an individual reaches the age of reason within themselves, they will see
that government and big business makes their living by ripping off the
working class. Our Christian masters in government and big business
never learned their lessons well, it would seem. These same people are
from that "prayer in school" period. A child begins to understand when
his belly aches from cheap food and he sees his parents struggle under
the thumbs of the mortgage companies and utilities.
You and I are, fortunately, are not poor, so it may be hard for
you or anyone reading this message to understand that many poor exist.
Take my word for it. I see them on a daily basis. They exist in great
numbers.

A poor child does not understand when he views the rich children
with all of their luxuries, when they have to strain just to get enough
food. Chances are these rich people attend church on a regular basis.
But the poor are easy to ignore, I suppose. All one has to do is turn
their head in the opposite direction or drive a little faster. "Gotta
get to church on time" has probably been used more than once.
These poor children are taught, by a Christian standard, that they
should share what they have with their fellow men. They are told that if
they have two coats and their neighbor has none, that they should gladly
give up one of their coats. These same children are also told that if
they want to gain eternal reward they must sell all they have, giving it
to the poor (gee, that's them) and follow Him. All the poor are being
given is poor quality housing and goods. The rich flourish.
I have met a few of these people who have come from Private
Christian Schools. Trying to hold a decent conversation with them is
well nigh impossible. Their heads are full of 'fairy-tale' pudding and
many will end up going through life in the dark, so to speak. In a sense
they are hypnotised, brainwashed from early life. Paul Savage is a good
example of a person like that. He is brain-dead and doesn't even know
it. His masters did a remarkable job on him.

But as scientific reasoning makes headway, people like Paul are
being replaced, for the most part, by less dogmatic individuals. The
main followers of fairy-tale religion, as it were, has been noted, from
supporters of the television ministries, to be predominately composed of
people in the 40-65 age group. The generations after that are a little
more intelligent because they are better informed.
In your religion, all scientific data is thrown out. The existence
of a deity, any deity, is unknowable. Faith replaces reasoning and from
the looks of it has managed to keep this world divided and in the dark.
Scientists like Carl Sagan, who make a lot of sense, are ignored by those
brain-dead individuals. Madness rules. Oh well, I always said that the
human animal is ignorant, except for a few scientific minds, that is.

All the people I've met who are into religion have their noses up
their asses. They care about as much about their brother as I care about

The reason preachers can be seen licking their lips during sermons
