Since you asked, I'll give you my perspective, although I expect that you
will find as many reasons for believeing in God as you will find believers.
For me, my faith is founded both in my Christian upbringing, and in the
fact that God has proven Himself to be absolutely everything He has claimed
to be, time and time again in my life, as well as the lives of those with
whom I have come into contact who have embraced the same faith.
I have seen God functionally in history, history that has been
substantiated by archeology and other sciences, and I have witnessed the
power and the love of God experientially in my life as He has revealed
Himself in and through me.
While I have never seen God in the totality of His being, (indeed, no man
has), nor have I ever physically heard the voice of God, He has surely
spoken to me many times and in many ways, and everything He has told me has
come to pass or has benefited my life tremendously any time I have listened
and applied His words.
Ergo, I believe, nay, I KNOW, by faith, that God exists, and that He is the
rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
You may scoff or ridicule if you wish. I also believe that we will all be
held accountable for every word that proceeds out of our heart one day, and
on that day, all will be believers, some to rewards, others to judgement.

Your ignorance is so monumental as to be unworthy even of this response.
What did the 10 year old boy do> He obviously ignored one of the most
primary of rules, one that he was undoubtedly taught from early childhood.
He ran into the street without looking. THere is absolutely NO spiritual
application here. Why do you insist on taking even so sad an opportunity to
hold the beliefs of others up to ridicule?
You are a perfect example of a proctologist's nightmare, and the best
walking around argument for retroactive birth control I know. Why don't you
crawl back to Haight-Ashbury!

They are getting profain again.... It is because of this kind of
crap and insults that I wish to shut down Apollo... Hell, the good users
have been chased away.
Really now, this board looks SICK to a potential new user... with
one post after another by Rod trying to knock down Christians. No wonder we
have no new members. I even want out!
I do not mind the religion debates.... but Rod can't hold back the
insults... He called me agnostic about a year ago, and I have had nothing
to do with him since then. I no longer go visit him or consider him a
good friend because he overstepped his bounds.

Cliff speaking here..... Anyone else agree or disagree?

I agree and disagree - what good users have been chased away? The ones here
have been here for years and log in almost every day. Personally, if I was a
first time logger and read the BB - I'd be thrilled at such controversy is
going on about a varity of subjects and join immediately. You should check
out some of the other BBS's and see what I mean. BORING! No one talks about
anything but games or a few computer subjects. I doubt very much that anyone
would log in from another city, muchless another state like JT does.
Rod does not offend me - however, he does have his own sig. and should post
there if there is a problem. He just got carried away is all. Please don't
forget that Rod has kept this board going many times when it bogged down by
introducing a controversial subject and NOT just religion either.
Would you have us all agree with each other? Please think about this before
you depart again. You have added fuel to the fire many times and we all
enjoyed it. Isn't that what BBSing is all about? -=*) ANN (*=-

Webster's new twentieth century dictionary, unabridged, 2nd edition,

ag-nos'tic, n. one who thinks it is impossible to know whether there is a
God or a future life, or anything beyond material phenomena. The name was
suggested by Huxley in 1869.

I Know there is a God...I feel it. I do not feel it is IMPOSSIBLE
to comprehend this, therefore *I* am not an agnostic. I resent highly other
persons telling me otherwise. Do I make myself clear? I take calling a
Christian an agnostic worse than calling him any other four letter word.
When used in that content, I will consider it to be a profain post!

There, there Ann.... I was upset by Rod's profanity, but then when one
considers the source, an Agnostic, Commune-ist, Atheist...hell bent on
spewing his anger at everyone because they are happy in their Christian
beliefs... I did calm down and did not hit the big ZAP key after all.

God bless all you users who put up with anti-Christian posts, and keep
logging on Apollo.

I don't know. I didn't say it.
However, Mormons call themselves Mormons. Christians who are not Mormons
never call themselves Mormons, so when I said Todd was a Mormon and Paul was
a Christian, I was just telling it like it was.

Re: "How can something that is based on faith be an 'Absolute'? Truth?"

I don't know! I didn't use the term "absolute" in my posts. I just used
the word truth. What other kind of truth is there? Lets keep it simple for
my benifit. Originally I was trying to make the point that truth is truth
and false is false. You cannot mix them up.

As for your other questions, good grief. Hypothetical questions only
deserve hypothetical answers, right? How do I know that Dick and Jane are
not right? I rely on my spiritual sense to tell me the truth. Believe me,
Dick and Jane and anyone else who believe in Allah are, wait a minute,
believe in Allah for what?? You didn't say.

Re: "What if Jim Jones was indeed Christ"
I can't believe you meant that as a serious question. The guy was the
epitome of evil.

Re: "Couldn't Jesus have decided NOT to die on that cross if He
wished?"

I suppose so, but he didn't. Actually, Christ *didn't* want to die on the
cross. He made that clear in his prayer in the garden of Gethsemane where
he said, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not
as I will, but as Thou wilt."

Re: "How can a statement of preference be illogical?"

Why is that hard? For example, if I like Ice cream from "31 Flavors" better
than ice cream from "McDonalds", it would be *illogical* for me to always go
to McDonalds for ice cream. That is, if I could afford the ice cream at 31
Flavors.

Re: "That's TOTALLY, TOTALLY, illogical."

I can understand why you would say that. It's right in the Bible.
(Did I already say this once? Stop me if you've heard it.)

1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the
Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know
[them], because they are spiritually discerned.

It is only *natural* that you would think my belief in God is foolishness
and illogical.

Hey, I'll gladly turn in my blue status and leave this system if it
will make you happy. In fact, the fewer posts that I see of yours, the
better I feel. It is relatively easy to blow you mind. I said that you
were an agnostic because you or any other Christian has no positive proof of
the existence of a diety. I still claim it.
If you take a people from different parts of the world who hold
their religions as truth and call them agnostic, they would respond in the
same way as you. Yet they believe in a completely different deity. So, for
you to believe you have the correct deity and not they, you would think they
must really not know.
In other words Cliffy, weak minds sink ships.
