Looks to me like the city "fathers" have pulled another one over on us
already overburdened taxpayers.
In the first place, construction overruns are a fact of life, and the
proposed $70 million dollars will probably be closer to $120 mil by the time
the arena and parking facilities actually get completed.
Secondly, by raising hotel/motel and auto rental taxes, (so-called
"tourist" taxes), all the city is doing is making it much easier for other
valley cities and other vacation spots, such as Florida, to entice the
tourist dollar away from Phoenix, thereby decreasing the revenues for both
the torist industries and the city. When their inflated figures as to income
realized from these taxes fall short, and the city cannot fulfill their
commitment, guess where they're going to look for more money?
I don't think you need two guesses.

I will have to get out the Bible and look up those verses re: Paul and
women. Yes, women were one level below the family cow in importance in those
days, but with all these 'revelations' from God to all of those 'called' -
you'd think they'd strighten up that mistake. Women finally did it 2,000
years later and without any revelations too! Ha. -=*) ANN (*=-

So what if the Government lies to sway opinion?
Its just as bad as telling a lie to a friend or enemy.
There's little if anything you can do by getting mad at them.
People will and have always lied to each other. What
makes a government so different?

just my $0.02 worth.

It is just that once caught, I have trouble believing them in the future.

I like the Suns and I think its nice for them to get a new arena; however,
I can not see any reason why the city should be allowed to reach into the
pockets of hotel and car rental companies to pay for it. If this arena is a
viable investment then it could have been paid for privately. If it is not a
viable investment then it should not be built at all.

Re: "Remember - most of the people didn't believe Jesus was the Christ
either!"

The ones who saw him come back from the dead had to believe he was more than
just a man. Most of the people in the world at that time had not even heard
of the Jews. However, truth is truth. I doesn't matter how many people
believe it is truth, or not truth. Truth is still truth. Voting doesn't
change it. Zeal doesn't change it. Wishing doesn't change it.
Hmmmmm. I lost my train of thought.

Excuse me! Does anyone here know the truth??

Re: "The bibical Paul was against men with long hair. I think he was a

You got it backwards Rod. The guys with the long hair are the fags. You
know how the song goes, "Long hair hippy pinko fag", something like that.

Re: Does anyone know the truth.

I don't think so. The only truth I know is that the Universe will continue
forever. It can't end.

This planet we are visiting will someday not be in existence as we
now know it. The physical matter it is composed of will have changed beyond
recognition as will our physical matter. But the electrial energy we are
composed of will still be around. What I mean to say is that our physical
matter will always be around too, it is just that change will make it
unrecognizable as we now know it. This matter will never age, it will just
change continually. But our electrical energy is a different story in a
sense. It is the operating system for our mass. Our mass can collapse but
not so with our operating system. (This post should be under the Rod
Willliams name). I think it, our electrical operating system will merge
with the whole. We, at this time are manifested into some very strange life
forms. We are ingnorant by nature, ugly in appearence, and somewhere in the
dark ages of our journey here. Power, for some, seems to be the nature of
the game and it is unfortunate that some in power put their will on the
masses when it comes to personal freedoms. Their excuse usually is that
thier religion dictates such and such an action. Strange, but it is usually
the bible thumpers who would legislate the morality of the masses. The
agnostic and atheists and a few others do not seem to have this problem.
Their philosophy is live and let live. The old nose freedom bit. Rod

I disagree. I think that when the body starts going then one should
save themselves a whole hell of a lot of pain. But when the time comes then
do it with a purpose. I haven't chosen mine as of yet but I have a few good
ideas. AND I do not want a FUNeral. I don't want enough of me to remain
that would need planted. Although there are some suicides that could be
considered wimpy, a person who is on their last legs would be much tastier
as Soylent Green. -Rod

DeJaVu........Fossil Fuels.......just as I read those exact words,
over my headphones came: I think we all have a great future in fossil fuels.
Sorry I missed you but Jasmine could have helped you.

Someday I hope to be a fossil fuel. If I am a good little boy
perhaps my mother will let me. Did you know that there is a BIG FAT BLONDE
in each of us? Yep! It's true.

STRANGE FACT DEPT. If sex didn't exist then neither would I? Mary,
Mary, Magdalene How About A Date. The wages of sin.

I wonder why Paul didn't respond to me calling him a murderer? Was
my message that illogical and stupid? It may have been a ridiculous message
but it was the truth, if any of us knows what that is.
                                Thanks,

Subject: Drug Debate
Date: 04/21/89 Time: 00:52:31

The Great Apollo Drug Debate was interesting. I read it over many
times. I studied it and noticed many items of interest.

The most logical and carefully thought out message award goes to two
people, Dean and JT. The only point JT missed in that issue was when he was
attacting Petrisko. Peter mentioned in one of his posts the thought of a
bible being against the law and JT jumped on him claiming that Peter was
being ridiculous. JT points out that the bible and drugs have nothing in
common. But Peter's point and a good point I might add was that Christians
would then understand the ignorance involved if their religious book was
against the law. Freethinkers understand what I am saying when the LAW goes
to take your right of owning a gun or smoking pot away. More on this later
when I get my thoughts more organized.
There were many great posts by everyone but I liked the Albert Sykes
Spirit Travel post very much, not that it had anything to do with the
debate. It was a refreshing pause. Who ever wrote it has my thanks.

I have given copies the the debate to many people. I even gave it
to a friend of mine in the court system and I am planning to mail copies to
some selected people. Ann made some damn good, common sense remarks and
fewer spelling mistakes but in a few of the messages there were some syntax
problems (just as in mine) and I took the liberty to correct a few.
