For those of you that are interested I recieved another Thang penis facts #3
in the mail yesterday along with another very beautiful photo of Thang -
this time he's sitting in what looks like a giant red sculpture of some
sort. It's truly a great looking picture. The penis facts are more about how
Thang was built and what great effort went into it.
BTW - seems a coincidence that I recieved no Penis news when James Hawley
was supposed to be out of the country and now that he's back ........!
Hmmmmm? -=*) ANN (*=-

If that message was your way of trying to teach me one of life's valuable
lessons - it did - only in part! Your right - sometimes I fear things
needlessly, but you certainly could have left out the part about nicotine
giving me emphysema, cancer or heart disease! Talk about being negative! Why
would you say something like that to me at a time like that? Re: hernia
surgery as being routine - yes, to the doctors it is, but when it is
preformed on a loved one, the word routine isn't much of a consolation.
Anyway, he came through it with flying colors and I hope to bring him home
today. He will be in a lot of pain for awhile though. -=*) ANN (*=-

The commune did become self sustaining after a time. Of course the donations
still came in but they grew and sold their own food. They built their own
housing etc. You said "clearly, it wasn't self supporting"! I wish you would
clairfy that statement. The word 'clearly' especially.
I can understand that when you were 19 and hadn't found yourself yet and
looked toward the commune and I can understand why you turned away from it -
but that doesn't mean it wasn't right for others. That is so like you JT -
something you don't like is automatically labeled wrong PERIOD and you start
name calling others that believe differently. My daughter was never
'wretched' nor 'sad and troubled' and not young when she joined the commune.
I met many of her friends from the commune and they were not catagorized
like that either. In fact - they were all from wealthy families, had
excellent jobs before joining and were highly intelligent. There was also
'no vague promices' of their future with the commune either. It was clear.
As I said - even when it did brake up she recieved compensation.
BTW - are you aware of the many hundreds that followed Bhagwan to India? I
think not! He was deported by the U.S.A. or he'd still be here. Evidently,
you do not know the whole story. -=*) ANN (*=-

You hit the nail on the head with that post. We had been to Oregon several
times way before that commune was ever thought about and we found the
Oregonians very bias and bigoted - they certainly were against Californians!
While my daughter was there, she'd tell us what was going on and it was hard
to believe. They harrassed the Rajneeshes at every turn legal or illegal.
Anyway, after out last vacation trip to Oregon, we vowed to not go back to a
place that wanted our tourist money buy not the tourist! They were
absolutely rude when they found out where we came from - making it clear
they didn't want Californians moving there. We didn't. -=*) ANN (*=-

Intelligent people from wealthy families who have excellent jobs can still
have wretched, sad, troubled lives. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if
wretchedness, sadness, and trouble are more common among these people than
among people from lower socioeconomic groups. I am afraid that the desire
to worship a guru and join a cult is prima facie evidence of an empty life.

At any rate, I don't think we should discuss your daughter any further. It
isn't fair to her when she isn't here to defend herself, and it isn't fair
to you because it is obviously a sensitive and embarrassing topic.

As for the commune being "self-sufficient," that is pretty obviously false.
Were it not, it would not have collapsed after its leader was booted out of
the country. It's clear that Rajneesh's ability to attract suckers was the
cash cow that kept the commune from collapsing.

Boy I'm sure glad Congress didn't torpedo the bipartisan military base

Yes, you are correct, Moon was not only a Christian but he is the
reincarnation of Christ. At least this was what I was told in my second
indoctrination session at the local Moonies. In fact Moon is from Korea
which by the way, is called Chosen in their tongue. He is the chosen one
and he came from the east on a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. Well, it fulfills
the Christian prophesy, anyway.
I got booted out of that group. I was asked to leave and not
return. I guess Jesus didn't want me there. Oh well. -Rod

For the most part, every American is given a religion to carry
around in their head. It usually comes from the parents. Why do people
take up the local religions? Is it because they are empty?
Also, some of these same people who have spent years with the local
religion, Christianity, obviously saw that it was shallow and didn't make a
lot of sense. But since these same people were 'belief' orientated then
why would you knock them for trying another belief? By your defination
everyone is lost and empty. But I agree, most everyone is, especially those
who adapt as their helper, a great guru in the sky. Me, I'd rather do it
myself along with the help of my friends, both living and dead. -Rod

They just want everybody to think like they do. It doesn't matter that they
don't act like they want you to act!
Another thing - have you ever noticed that moralists don't speak of freedom
but atheists do? Yes - they certainly want to legalize all their beliefs.
That way you HAVE to comform to their way of thinking! Atheists speak of
freedom including giving the moralists the right to believe the way they
want. But it's not 'ditto or vice versa' by any means. To sum it up - the
moralists do not want you to be free! Why do you suppose that is?
                           -=*) ANN (*=-
P.S. I think the basis for the hatred for Bhagwan's commune was evny of
people that had more freedom than they did. Their morals wouldn't let them
even think of condoning that place! This doesn't apply to JT of course. Not
that I'm implying he doesn't have morals - he went up there with an open
mind and made up his mind! No problem! Trouble is, now he's judging with out
an open mind.

Yeah, right. They were just jealous because the Rajneeshees had the
freedom to be told how to dress, what to eat, and what to do with their
possessions (i.e., give them to the Bhagwan so he can buy another Rolls).
And it was only this envy that motivated them to get angry when those
wonderful advocates of the freedom to live a life of dull conformity tried
to take over their towns and poisoned their water supply.

Good message. I agree but as to why they do it. Hmmmm. Well, from
my reading of the Babel I didn't see anything therein that would suggest
that
taking away the freedom of another was a valid idea. I don't know the
answer but perhaps it is that, something I've noticed, the more illiterate a
person, the more animalistic they are, the more they hold to superstition
and this includes these religions. The more ignorant a person, the more
they believe the fairy tales taught them by the sharks.

As far as the commune in Oregon, a major problem was that a radical
change took place. People who are set in their beliefs have a hard time
with change. Change will bring the bigot in a person out into the open in
most cases. It is obvious that those landowners in Oregon were a bit
uncomfortable with all these new and strange developments going on so near.
I would bet that more that one of the residents of the town phoned the
police, FBI and their congressman and Senators just to let them know that a
communist organization was taking root on good American soil, so near to
them. I mean, the townspeople must have thought that whatever those strange
people were up to WAS NOT American, Mom & Apple Pie. If it works then don't
change it, they say. To many people change must come slowly and in small
steps. Hell, I wish this earth would shift poles but have one pole in the
U.S. and the other in China. Wouldn't that be great? What fun.
